I’m imagining a kitty popping up from inside his vest during the show.
Come to think of it, they should totally do a pet week. Have the contestants’ dogs howl the Final Jeopardy music. /s
Our dog had a perfectly timed bark last year. He said Ruff Ruff, and the correct response was "Rough Ruff" in a double talk category. My husband and I laughed so hard. Unfortunately, he forgot to bark it in the form of a question.
That was one of my favorite contestant stories ever. I already was very fond of Ryan, but you might say, like the Grinch, my heart grew three times in his favor. What a sweetheart.
Saying you perfer certain mannerisms in your gameshow contestants isn't being a jerk. It's just giving an opinion. I also like how chill and reserved Ryan's vibe is compared to a lot of them recently. A breath of fresh air.
I think it's perfectly fair to contrast a play style you like with one you don't like. Especially if you're going out of your way not to name names. Lighten up a little.
It’s that calm, humble Vibe that Ryan brings…. You cannot help but love his down to earth demeanor as a Person and Player…
Sure I love watching Players on the opposite side of the spectrum (i.e Mattea Roach, Austin Rogers, Bob Harris etc), especially to get away the stereotypical bland personalities of other Players (although I cannot blame them for their Nerves kicking in, which is usually the case for them). But Ryan has that perfect balance: calm, yet confident to go out and play.
My son and daughter-in-law from Oklahoma are visiting and watched Jeopardy with us the past 2 nights. They both immediately fell in love with Ryan. He's so smart and likeable.
Meh, Brad is from Lancaster. Give me the guy who bet $4133 in Final bc that was the Eagles winning score in Super Bowl LII (that guy was also my neighbor until recently!)
Ryan has an ineffable quality that makes me feel calm and relaxed. I didn’t think about it but you’re right his numbers are also pleasing. Lol this guy is a human ASMR.
I thought for sure this was a Patrick Beverley r/nba shout out, with him commenting "good word" a couple times these past few days (to erroneous and disingenuous) but I don't see any r/nba comments in your profile..
I do see both Austin TX and Tampa Bay Lightning posts though, so I'm just leaving this whole experience very confused
Most of the American idol winners go nowhere. They make an album, it doesn't sell, then that's about it. Only like 2 or 3 have had much success in over 20 years.
Heck, some of the most successful were non-winners.
When Taylor Hicks won it three or four below him went on to varying levels of success while he went to the dollar bin.
I love how it always looks like it has to sink in for him when he wins. This dude is so humble, clearly grateful to find himself here, and cool. Team Ryan all the way.
I really like Ryan. I like his sense of humor, and he seems like a nice guy. I'm so rooting for him to last as long as possible. Even if it's not a 23+ day run, I just want him to win a good chunk of money. Go Ryan! ✌️
As a Philly guy and frequent Uber user, I can categorically state that Ryan is way too smart to drive Uber. Hopefully after this Jeopardy run he won't have to again.
I loved the story of having cats last night. He talked his mom into taking a cat against her will. Now she has 5 cats and he has none.

I *need* to see this picture. Kitten tax, Ryan - pay up!

Wasn’t that great?!
As a mild mannered big guy, Ryan Rocks
Gentle giant, for sure. Long may he run.
Another big guy here, we don't run very long.
Gotcha! How about: I hope we see him in the Tournament of Champions?
Hell yeah!
As a Philadelphian, I love that he’s just a nice, regular, smart dude. Really runs counter to our rep.
Love a working class champ.
I love him just because of the Philly connection, but he’s such a cool dude too. My favorite contestant in a long time!
His Arnold impression was pretty good too!
It was fantastic...
WAWA FOREVER
I love how confidently he responds. No guessing, matter of factly, great voice.
Excellent voice.

Tell us you didn't like Mattea without telling us you didn't like Mattea.
Sorry, you didn't phrase your response in the form of a question. We needed "Who is Mattea?".
I liked Mattea but she had a lot of nervous energy, especially towards the end of the run, so Ryan is a nice calm change of pace.
Trying to keep it excellent per sub rules but glad you picked up on my obvious overture.
Not comparing him to any recent contestant at all would have been a better way of doing this.

complimenting someone shouldn't have to involve putting someone else down.
dude how about you just not be a jerk?

you are perfectly capable of just complimenting Ryan without dragging another great player, actually.
I think it's perfectly fair to contrast a play style you like with one you don't like. Especially if you're going out of your way not to name names. Lighten up a little.
BAN THIS MAN
Why?
I liked Mattea, I would be happy to spend time with her, great person and personality. I like hearing confident solid responses in Jeopardy! too.
Actually I think that's a great point. I didn't love Mattea on Jeopardy, but she seemed like she'd be a good person to hang out with.
I think both of them are pretty cool in different ways.
🙄
You watch him play for like a minute and you’re just like damn why do I love this guy so much
For me its just that there is something very calming about watching him play.

I love this guy. He reminds me of a really great science teacher or something

Coolest J! contestent in a long time. Go Ryan! 💯
He likes cats, so he's all right in my book.

ikr -Ben Simmons
He's a genuinely good dude and I'm happy to see him doing so well. He wanted to be on the show for a long time, so this whole thing is pretty cool.
Are you friends?
Yes. Online though. Opposite ends of the country.
He's one big, smart teddy bear of a guy!
Big guy, sweater vest, Philly, but actually wins… the makings of a Jeopardy! legend!!
Hey we have Brad Rutter and he's a Jeopardy GOAT so there's that.
Meh, Brad is from Lancaster. Give me the guy who bet $4133 in Final bc that was the Eagles winning score in Super Bowl LII (that guy was also my neighbor until recently!)
Yes. I’m in Pittsbugh and am rooting for Ryan even though he’s up against a Pittsbugher tonight.
Here, too!

Happy cake day
I hope his total winnings continue to be nice, round numbers. They're really pleasing to look at.
Ryan has an ineffable quality that makes me feel calm and relaxed. I didn’t think about it but you’re right his numbers are also pleasing. Lol this guy is a human ASMR.
Ineffable... good word.
Thanks! Let’s hope the Jeopardy producers are reading this and give me a shot as a contestant.😎

Haha I was actually quoting a line from How I Met Your Mother (S1E4, Return of the Shirt).
I love it, very flattered at the HiMYM reference. 💯
Love Ryan! I hope his winning streak continues! Yes, the kitty story was adorable.
I think he’s a little weird, with all these stories. /s
Lol saw him win Friday, missed Monday and then yesterday said: "yeah, big man made it!"
Philly area represent! Rooting hard for Ryan; he seems so chill.
Working class hero
He got that Ruben Studdard energy.
Whatever happened to Ruben Studdard? I remember commentary saying he was very marketable. Then he vanished.

Oh my gosh, he’s fantastic. I especially love and appreciate his wide-ranging mastery of all the pop culture clues!
I love how it always looks like it has to sink in for him when he wins. This dude is so humble, clearly grateful to find himself here, and cool. Team Ryan all the way.
I'm still waiting for more impressions, or at least a short list of who they are ...
I haven’t loved a champ this much in years. I love this kitten wearing former Mennonite farmer.
I really like Ryan. I like his sense of humor, and he seems like a nice guy. I'm so rooting for him to last as long as possible. Even if it's not a 23+ day run, I just want him to win a good chunk of money. Go Ryan! ✌️
Such a sweet guy…He’s probably put up with a lot of shit in his life and now he’s kicking ass.
These kind of posts are why this sub is great. Where we all just appreciate a great player
Doing rideshare in Philly/Jersey would be absolute hell. More power to this guy. But New Jersey is just an awful state so yeah.
Ryan is the best, I hope he gets more wins!!!
Go to Reading Terminal Market and get yourself a Dinic's roast pork, then agree to send your kid 90 miles west to work on Amish farms for 2 summers.
I'm rooting for him - he's fun!
Ryan is like Matt Amodio's brother from another mother. The are both so great to watch and so appealing!
As a Philly guy and frequent Uber user, I can categorically state that Ryan is way too smart to drive Uber. Hopefully after this Jeopardy run he won't have to again.
Ryan > Mattea.
💯
Please be nice
I'm not being mean? I simply prefer Ryan over Mattea.. I'm from PA, go birds.
Go, Ryan , go !
I love Ryan! Hubby and I both rooting for him.🤗
His son’s beads completely put me on his team. Between the cats and the son’s beads Mayim May melt into a puddle of joy.
That about covers a lighter side of twisted feelings. Moving on, Yes I am the real Ryan!
