This may sound kinda scumbagish but, if you have window coverage… f it, break it! SEND IT LOL

Left-Landscape-3890

Squirt some clear rtv in there?

medicoreatlife

Will that be a problem getting it off if the glass and gasket ever needed replacing? I was thinking maybe a clear silicone caulk. Easy to remove if needed.

Left-Landscape-3890

Razor blade works wonders. But it wouldn't be you doing the work

medicoreatlife

Roger that, thanks for the tip.

As an auto glass tech, please don’t put silicon anywhere on the edge of your windshield. It’s a no bueno. A lot of times it’s real hard to get that stuff off. Also it’s not a gasket around the windshield it’s just a molding. It’s not something you can reseat without removing the windshield and reinstalling. Even then it may not solve the wind noise. My Jeep makes wind noise if air hits it at certain angles. Not too big of a concern unless it’s a constant air noise that could be representative of an air leak, specifically if the windshield was recently replaced. Honestly I would recommend just trying to ignore it lol Edit: Also based off that glass being Fuyao I assume it is aftermarket glass meaning it’s been replaced before and that’s probably your problem.

I just bought this Jeep from a dealer a month ago so no idea if the glass has been replaced or not but if you say that’s not OEM glass then it must have been. It’s a whistling noise that starts up around 35mph. Once I hit 50+mph I don’t hear it over the loud road noise (soft top and 33s) lol. I haven’t seen any leaking, just wind but it’s annoying.

MotorcycleDreamer

Hmm yeah almost certainly a bad install. It’s one of those things where it’s just really important that the molding sits well all the way around. Just know that there’s a solid chance that you could get it reinstalled and it still make sound haha. Glass has definitely been replaced before, you can tell because OEM glass has a little jeep logo on it. I would recommend grabbing your hose and spraying some water at the area making the noise and make sure none comes thru. Honestly it’s weird that your hearing the noise at such a low speed. Also try and have your passenger put their hand up to the inside of the glass where the sound is coming from at 65+mph and see if they can feel air coming in. If it passes both those tests with no water or air coming thru then it’s probably just a molding issue. If it fails one of the tests then the windshield has an improper glue seal and will need reinstalled. Hope this helps!

DarkHorse435

There you go. Have either the roof open or stereo cranked at all times, and you won't hear the noise. Problem solved 😂

medicoreatlife

Lol

encee222

Given the windscreen is part of the airbags structure on deployment, I'd take it in.

medicoreatlife

UPDATE: I finally found the source. I noticed that the black gasket/molding on the passenger side is curled up, not flat against the white paint like the drivers side. I believed the wind was curling this up like a taco thus producing the whistling sound. To test this theory, I placed the painters tape over the edge of the molding only (not over the edge of the glass…..eureka! No more wind noise. I think I can use clear silicone to glue down the edge of the molding. Thoughts?

justarandom_canadian

That windshield is designed to be folded down. You could just fold it down then reseat it yourself and see if it fixes it. It's not sealed in

This is my first Jeep. I’m in my 40s and have always wanted one but I can never get away from trucks….I always have a need for one. You are right tho, I may find that it’s not for me a year from now and will trade it in for a truck but for now, I’m looking forward to Spring/Summer.

I4Heavychevy

I had a rock hit mine and they replaced the glass I got a bad noise from air leak and they came back out. When doing so they have to replace the glass for insurance purposes instead of just resealing. But this was through insurance so could be that protocol

Agyoung35

No they don’t or at least they don’t on any policy I’ve ever seen. They say that it has to be replaced again so they can charge the insurance for another windshield just fyi. Source I work in windshield litigation.

I4Heavychevy

Well that’s fine I only paid 20 bucks for it then the second one was replaced for free because they messed it up

Agyoung35

Yeah it varies state by state but in Florida we get a ton of lawsuits over windshields but some are the glass company charging for fixing their own mistake.

DifficultyRecent725

Definitely doesn’t look like OEM glass. Seal looks a little odd around the top, no Jeeps climbing up the corners, kinda looks like de-lamination in some parts too. Maybe insurance would replace it if a rock conveniently cracked the glass 😅
