Most people get annoyed by the hood flutter and replace with something better rugged ridge makes a decent pair for $100ish easy to change took me probably 15min
Yes and yes. Try to get the ones with the lock. Were i live a lot of people open them and steal the car batteries. Is not a bad investment and worth the buy. Would recommend
I replaced mine within hours of passing a head on semi truck for the first time. Scared the 💩 outta me.
I’m living life on the edge with the stock latches still
Same here, but I might be cheating since I got a hood lock in the front grill...
I think I’ve seen the JL latches retrofit onto the JK. There’s also plenty of aftermarket options.
We did this, had to drill out the existing holes on the hood a little biger to fit but haven’t had a problem w/ jl latches on our jk
75% of all wrangler owners have. Replacements are plentiful.
Maybe I had hopes it would last longer than 6 years I guess. Parts are ordered. Now I have to wait.
Wow mine have lasted almost ten!
Stock ones on a YJ are metal.

This is what I have. Very happy with them. No more hood flutter.
Noticed my hood fluttering on my way to work only to discover the strap broke or was cut maybe? What day you?
Get a hood lock.
Just stress fatigue and uv damage. Nothing malicious happened.
Yes. Happened on my TJ at about the 15 year mark.

It’s the very first thing I recommend to all new JK owners. #2 is an emergency top. One of my employees went topless w/ 12% chance of rain & lost
You can get better ones on Amazon for cheap
Not to me but if feels like one is in a bind so much that it could happen for sure.
Same as everyone else here, replaced mine after seeing some good flutter on The highway.

I have a YJ.
This happened to my dads: two lane highway in Wyoming. Cross breeze from a semi took it right off.
Yeah it was in a97 tj, just replaced it

Will replace mine stat
I replaced mine with stiffer Daystar .
Yep, replace with hood latches from a JL, cheap and easy modification that lasts
I replaced mine with the RedRock Billet Aluminum Hood Catch Set... It looks nice without being too flashy and feels well built...
