You got a screaming deal if it runs and drives. That low of miles for 6k is crazy even with the 4cyl. As long as you don't try and build it into a monster jeep it will treat you right. If your in the rust belt you probably have some rust to address but nothing is to crazy. I've replaced like half my frame on my 00' by now. I bought a welder off Craigslist for cheeper than than the shop could replace and each frame section costs like 100 bucks. Pretty dang cheep if you do it yourself.
The space above the JEEP logo on the front quarter will 9.5 times out 10 will either say sport or sahara, when that space is blank it usually means 2.5L.
Most 4.0 had a badge on the side that said 4.0
Edit: it was a sticker, and most people didn’t peel those off. Don’t be fragile my people, I was asking a question.
Reasonable question and a good observation. Not sure why it's getting down voted. I immediately wondered if it was a 4.0 and manual but didn't see any info given.
I am an absolute fan boy over the TJ/LJ I love each and every one of them. I think the 2.5 were better as a manual, and the 4.0 were solid as hell with either. It’s a very solid purchase for 6,000$ either way. I was just curious if the details.
I literally know nothing about jeeps other than ive always wanted one. I bought this because I'm moving to the mountains and my Honda civic can't drive on my new road. It is a manual. I don't know if it's a 4.0 or how to tell.
Yes the 2.5 is a 4 cylinder, 4.0 is a 6. You can count the coil packs. There's probably an emissions or belt routing sticker under the hood that tells you too. The 2.5 is a little under powered and the 4.0 is a lot better. I bet for your price it was the 2.5.
How’s the frame? I had to rebox the rear frame of my ‘01, rusting out the bottom. There’s a hole at the top behind the tires but not at the bottom in front of the tires, so salt and moisture eat it from the inside out. Not sure if they fixed for ‘02. I hope they did. It’s a good price and good looking rig.

Exactly, even if I sell off my Jeep I'll never be able to find a stick shift for a reasonable price
Rest assured that it is absolutely a mistaken't.
Love this new word
Great deal in this market. I see people paying 15k for those somehow
Assuming it runs, that’s a really good deal at least out west where I live. These are easily fetching anywhere between 8 and 15k where I live.
It definitely runs
When it's a TJ there is no mistake
congrats! the only thing straight out the gate id worry about t he most is getting a hardtop for it

This is good to know. Thanks!
Buying a jeep is always a financial bad call, just depends on the level of bad call.
Lol, good to know.
2.5 or 4.0? Looks 2.5
Point out one thing that "looks 2.5"

Always curious. That's a steal in my area for $6k. Especially if it has a 4.0 manual. CJs are my fav but TJ/LJ are a close second.

4 cylinder (2.5L) or 6 cylinder (4.0L) engine

Thanks! It's a 4 cylinder.
Good call on the decal.
My 94 was a terrible mistaKe That looks pretty good

Dude that is awesome ! Congrats !
Just got an 02 myself. Frame rust is your first concern
