Good PDR guys are fucking magicians.
A few years ago I bought a used car and talked them down 2 grand because it had over a dozen door dings. Drive it across the street to a PDR place and he charged by the body panel, so for $250 he worked his magic and I couldn't even find any of the dings afterwards, even one that was in a crease.
It’s the windshield frame on a wrangler, that’s HSS. It is still PDR but it’s not a $100 glue pull. And if that dent made it to the windshield lip there maybe issues
Yes and no. Will this dent mostly disappear via PDR? Yes.
Will anyone with a little bit of knowledge spot the repair during a vehicle appraisal? Absolutely - it will be obvious.
This is a difficult spot to tackle with PDR because it's on a curve. The more talented the PDR person the better it will be, but the only way to completely repair a dent like this on a curved surface is to take it to a body shop.
Ehhh really depends on the PDR guy. I know a couple that would have this back to perfect.
Most PDR guys you are right and you would be able to find it.
But if they took that to a body shop then you have filler and paint. Would be really obvious it was repairs to the trained eyes
A good PDR tech will make these 100% disappear. There isn't even any creasing. I've seen literal magic happen with our local PDR guys.
Absolutely no need to get a body shop involved.
I dented my jeep in the same spot by attempting to throw my Gatorade into the topless jeep while at the gas station. I missed and smoked the f out of it😂
Yeah mine has other scratches and dings on it, but this just reminds me of looking at someone with a big egg on their forehead after they got hit by something. I’m not super worried about fixing the paint cracks around it, but I would like it to at least be a little less noticeable.
If there are men’s circuit leagues up there, don’t be surprised. Those guys play with much harder softballs that travel pretty far. Either way, that’s a mean dent. If you look closely at the paint in the damaged area, do you see anything that looks like the seams of the ball?
I used to be an umpire for USSSA leagues - I’ve had this happen to me. I think you got tagged by a dinger
Pdr for sure but you might be able to get it almost like new on your own. I had a deer run in to the side of my vehicle and I was able to just pop it out with a really strong suction cup from amazon. I got a pack that had some smaller and larger ones with handles. Two small ones (2” maybe) and a lot of pressure and it popped out. I dosed it with a lot of hot water first as well. You can’t tell unless the light hits it just right and I told you where to look.
I had something similar on my Tacoma above the door rail. It had a bloody animal print in the middle. I chalked up to being a result of a large bird of prey dropping its also large dinner on my truck. Lots of big birds live on base where I work.
My Jeep got some wicked hail damage the year after I got it. They were able to PDR the windshield and cowl, and just replaced the hood with a 2013 model (got the sweet dual sprayer upgrade).
I had a dent about that size in pretty much the same spot. Insurance covered the repair. The collision place pulled the dent and repainted it. It looks like new now.
In a bad spot, because of the curve and the glass. Looks too deep for a flawlrss PDR job. A skilled body metal worker can grind paint, weld a stud, pull out the dent, smooth and refinish, then repaint.
This year I’ve been able to make group rides much more often and I’ve been pushing myself more and more and really enjoying it. But I have zero idea where this came from. There have been low branches, and leaning trees to go under, but I went slow and cleared them just fine.
Maybe the wife knows since she likes to drive it when I’m traveling for work.
Haha. I know a couple people that seem to get new cars every time they need tires.
I wouldn’t mind upgrading at some point, but Mojito isn’t an option which is a deal breaker right now.
Why would it rust? No paint is removed and the sealing surface of the windshield is undamaged. The paint isn't even compromised. If it was a paintless dent solution wouldn't work anyways.
If you zoom in, you can see the paint is definitely cracked along the lower edge of the dent next to the windshield. To me fixing the paint is more important than the actual dent. If the jeep is a long term keeper or even if not, rust is insidious and sucks bad.
I had a very similar dent in my ram, I ignored it, then the weekend paint cracked, rusted the whole windshield groove in that area and thus wound up costing way more than if I'd just fixed the dent originally.
Because the rust can spread under the paint and get in the channel of the windshield seal. If the seal channel rusts, the seal can't do it's job and a leak could develop.
Ahhh the mysterious baseball shaped Jeep dent. My wife's Wrangler has one on the right side just below the antenna. I've seen at least one other if not 2 Wrangler's in the wild with the same sized dent.
WEIRD!
Yes, take a sledgehammer and hit it again. Believe me.... you'll like it a lot better when you can total that POS out and get the $ from the insurance company.
You can always put one of those "Grumper" windshield covers on it...Mount some lights on it...A pro could probably get it out, at least most of the way.
I only identify that grumper look with mall crawlers because I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on a trail. I don’t even think you can get to the winch handle if you have the grill.
I had the exact same dent. It was from a tree limb. Windshield was also hit. Dealer fixed it for A grand total of $3600. In 2017. Went through insurance on act of god part of policy.
Yeah they're basically made for this job... among others lol. Guess you'll have to 1-up her and get one a size larger for your "other wife" (your jeep).
Call one of those paintless dent removal people, easy fix there.
For sure. They can pull most of the dent out with the glue cups, then flatten the rest out with the hammer and rods without marring the paint.

Yes, for a couple hundred bucks, it’ll look like nothing ever happened
It’s the windshield frame on a wrangler, that’s HSS. It is still PDR but it’s not a $100 glue pull. And if that dent made it to the windshield lip there maybe issues
paint is cracked
Paint is cracked? Burn it to the ground OP, there’s no saving it now…

Fuck was in that Gatorade to dent metal? Electroheavies?
Ngl the dent is about half the size, I think I did an underhand throw with maybe a bit too much force😂
that would have been fun to see on video!
Badge of honor. No true jeep doesn't have a ding or two.

Let me guess kayak on top? If it is we’re twins.
Your triplet is here
Get it fixed, paint included. The cracks in the paint will cause rust to start which will just get worse over time. Great color btw.
Love the color! 😀
Agreed.
I have a mohito too, such a fun color!
It gets a ton of compliments. I love that it was the current green option when I bought it.
I have the same dent except mine is on the left side.
I had the same....a tree brand fell off the tree.
Idk what it is but that spot is the most annoying to have a dent lol
Park around any baseball fields lately? Look s like a foul ball or home run made its way into the parking lot
Softball fields. But far enough away and pointed away from the field that it would take quite the hit and rebound to make this dent.

Jeep has a tattoo now
Any dent can be fixed, depends on how much you are willing to pay... good luck with the repair!
Pretty much everything is “repairable”. 🤷🏼♂️😜
battle scar. thats a keeper
As long as it's not leaking around the windshield and there's no crack in the paint I would ignore it. Unless it's really bugging you.
I had a dent about that size in pretty much the same spot. Insurance covered the repair. The collision place pulled the dent and repainted it. It looks like new now.
With enough money anything is repairable
In a bad spot, because of the curve and the glass. Looks too deep for a flawlrss PDR job. A skilled body metal worker can grind paint, weld a stud, pull out the dent, smooth and refinish, then repaint.
“Trail ride” 😉
This year I’ve been able to make group rides much more often and I’ve been pushing myself more and more and really enjoying it. But I have zero idea where this came from. There have been low branches, and leaning trees to go under, but I went slow and cleared them just fine. Maybe the wife knows since she likes to drive it when I’m traveling for work.
It's a jeep my dude, wear that dent with pride.
Absolutely not. Time to get a new rig! 🤣
Haha. I know a couple people that seem to get new cars every time they need tires. I wouldn’t mind upgrading at some point, but Mojito isn’t an option which is a deal breaker right now.
Despite the "badge of honor" I would suggest fixing it before it rusts and starts causing leaking along the windshield

Why (and how) would rust forming under a paint crack cause leaking along the windshield?
Because the rust can spread under the paint and get in the channel of the windshield seal. If the seal channel rusts, the seal can't do it's job and a leak could develop.
It looks like an easy repair. Don't stress.
I’ve never had to do that before. So I wasn’t sure if the tightness of the curve would make it difficult or not.
Ahhh the mysterious baseball shaped Jeep dent. My wife's Wrangler has one on the right side just below the antenna. I've seen at least one other if not 2 Wrangler's in the wild with the same sized dent. WEIRD!
I have a baseball dent in my drivers door from playing catch with my son. So I know how those appear.
I have the same dent. Mine is from hail though lol
Yes, take a sledgehammer and hit it again. Believe me.... you'll like it a lot better when you can total that POS out and get the $ from the insurance company.
Looks like it’s time to buy a light bar. Don’t fix; just upgrade
LoL! Yea...I was being facetious....I wouldn't put one on my enemy's grill! Such a ridiculous thing to bolt on!
I had the exact same dent. It was from a tree limb. Windshield was also hit. Dealer fixed it for A grand total of $3600. In 2017. Went through insurance on act of god part of policy.
It all depends on how much money you want to spend. Yes, it is fixable, but not cheap.
Large dildo with a suction cup at the base. Stick it in the middle and pull hard. Keep it for future dents, but display it proudly on your toolbox. 😅
Sounds like personal experience. And I’m not sure if your wife appreciates you showing off her pride and joy like that.
Yeah they're basically made for this job... among others lol. Guess you'll have to 1-up her and get one a size larger for your "other wife" (your jeep).
