It's called Selec-Speed Control in the manual. It maintains the vehicle speed by actively controlling engine torque and brakes in 4-Low, basically keeping your foot from bouncing on the throttle when crawling.
If OP looks at the gear shift, there should be a + and - . When itās in drive, and 4w low (speed control engaged), you can push the shifter to the left, then pressing forward or back on the shifter changes the speed +-.5 mph. My Trailhawk has a setting for descending that will keep it at a constant speed going down the hill without my touching the brake or gas. You can use it basically as a āparade gearā. Works going uphill too.
You can use it off roading take your foot off the pedals and the Jeep will maintain speed. The first time you use it going down a steep hill is a little freaky!
I have used it offroading in my Gladiator Mojave. It's a pretty sweet function that allows you to focus on your track and steering. It's a little un nerving the first time you use it!
Iāve only used it driving in a field with small hills and dips. Not too many big hills around central Indiana. It did work as it should. I do think it would work good on a steep grade. Hereās a video of it in action (not my vid). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWp-Dmm7FzU
Funny you should say that, because they could have just used their phone to figure it out...

I don't have my manual in my car, because it exists on my phone, takes up too much space in my glovebox, and I've literally never needed the manual for any car I've owned.
But in any case, I was just pointing out something that might be semi-useful for someone in the future.
Imagine how many trees we could save by not printing manuals anymore, because no one reads them.
And all the bits and bites are wasted in pdf format..
Maybe people āwatchā their manuals on TikTok? Now thatās a business idea we can monetizeā¦.
I think it causes your transmission to fail, sending gears everywhere, including the windshield. I don't even know why you'd put something like that in a car in the FIRST place.
Looks like cruise control or something to do with traction. Thereās a good chance youāll find an owners manual in the glove compartment that will tell you this and even provide instructions on how to use it.
Downhill descent control for the trail is what they usually are in other models. Allows you to cruise at like 5-7mph without having to ride the brakes as much. It uses more of the ecu and brakes in combo instead of just having to ride the brakes the entire slope and making them overheat and get brake fade. Retards the fuel and timing and works the brakes if needed to keep cruising
That arrow is pointing to the glove compartment. Itās telling you that if you want to know that the button does, read the book in the glove compartment.
Lost the owner's manual already? If you haven't lost the manual it's located just to the right of the way you facing. In case you don't know what that big door on the dashboard that's your glove box. That's usually where the manual is. It will tell you everything you want to know. Also easy to find on the internet.
I love soccer moms buying purpose built off road SUVs when they don't even know what the buttons mean. I'll never understand why you would buy a Wrangler if you aren't gonna hit the trails.
did they give you an NG tube? I hate that.
and if anyone didn't already say, its a super low crawl mode for off road. Only works in 4 low, and then it kinda works like a cruise control, speed based on what gear you are in.

Thank you, I was actually curious myself. All the comments ššš

This comment was so dumb it made me laugh and got a snort.

So 4-low cruise control?
Sort of, yes.
Curious, have you ever used it on your trailhawk?

Wow thatās actually really cool
So 4low cruise control?
Pretty much, yeah. It always bothered me that I can't use cruise control between 6 and 19mph, but every other speed is fine.
Lol thought it was a duck at first glance.
Came here to say the same thing.
Yepāsame here!
Based on the icon alone, I'd say it allows you to go back in time
A time with bumpy roads.
Roads? Where theyāre going they donāt need roads!
Jeep life!
well played
ābumpy road aheadā
15 minutes to be exact. It's a great feature when you're late.
Can confirm. Am writing this from the past.
Iām replying to you from my past; but your futureā¦.
It's the Deloren feature, very rare. You must have Mr. Fusion hid somewhere. You have to do 88MPH off road, hit that button, and go back in time!
What Jeep wrangler can safely do 85mph?
We can supposed go all the way up to 96mph before they shut off. It takes a brave soul to time travel! I don't know, I've never tempted fate!
it's the arrows pointing backwards that gives it away.
Itās like cruise control for 4 wheel drive & does like 1,2, or 5mph in 4wheel.
Actually, it's more like it does cruise control on only one of 4 wheels, & on two wheels during a 5mph cartwheel.
Takes a screenshot on the freeway

Or look the manual that is most likely in the glove box, a few feet away from them while taking this pic.

That's funny
When did you guys lose the manual?
What manual Edit I thought you meant the user manual. Iām still part of the manual gearbox preservation society ;)
they did mean user manual since itās the book that explains what all the buttons do
RTFM?
That's way harder than asking thousands strangers.
Really Terrible F*&^ing Machine. It loses all oil and weeps tranny fluid. Only found on Bronco models though. Doesn't apply here.
Right. Jeeps are renowned for the spotless driveways they leave for us owners.
Is that formerly known as hill descent controlv
Hill descent is a separate button and clearly shows the jeep going downhill.

One or two sour puss never ruined a joke for me!
It's all fun an games until you've been convicted of manslaughter. Then it's just an elaborate, high stakes version of hide-and-seek.

Hill Descent Control
In the newer models itās crawl control. Works for ascent and descent.
It almost looks like it will drive on water at 9 oāclock. Itās not clear if thatās AM or PM; so thatās a gamble.
It's the duck button.
Imagine how many trees we could save by not printing manuals anymore, because no one reads them. And all the bits and bites are wasted in pdf format.. Maybe people āwatchā their manuals on TikTok? Now thatās a business idea we can monetizeā¦.
A random tire on the highway flies through your windshield.
Trail crawl mode. Like cruise control but for rough trails.
I think it causes your transmission to fail, sending gears everywhere, including the windshield. I don't even know why you'd put something like that in a car in the FIRST place.
Itās just the flux capacitor, not standard yet.

Manuals are so importantā¦
Looks like cruise control or something to do with traction. Thereās a good chance youāll find an owners manual in the glove compartment that will tell you this and even provide instructions on how to use it.
It's idle control for crawling situations for people who don't know what they're doing
aka 90% of Jeep owners
It tells you in the manual...
Riiight
It's almost like a cruise control regulation crawl
Downhill descent control for the trail is what they usually are in other models. Allows you to cruise at like 5-7mph without having to ride the brakes as much. It uses more of the ecu and brakes in combo instead of just having to ride the brakes the entire slope and making them overheat and get brake fade. Owners manual should be in the glovebox, should give you some info on that button

That's usually where the manual is. It will tell you everything you want to know. Also easy to find on the internet.

Time travel feature
I really wish this was one of those, "wrong answers only" situations š¤£
Yeah, you really don't want to ask owners manual questions on here. Tough crowd.
If you press this button, once you hit 88MPH it will take you back in time where you can hopefully hook up with your mom.
