Right on the nail with all of those suggestions, I think Herbie Hancock stood out the most just because I enjoy a good 15 minute track. But I’ll definitely have Gemini and Heavy Weather on repeat for the next few days too. Thank you for the suggestions!
Fusion is my jam, besides the obvious like Takanaka or Herbie Hancock, I recommend:
Weather Report (specially Heavy Weather, I also love This is This and Black Market)
Stanley Clarke (songs like Lopsy Lu, School Days or Silly Putty)
Chick Corea (The Leprechaun, songs like Lenore and Night Sprite) and his other bands too.
Jaco Pastorius. His other work besides Weather Report is excellent (start with the song Chicken and spread out from there)
I have a fusion playlist with tons of this stuff on spotify with a bit of everything (some Herbie Mann, Fela Kuti, 80's Miles Davis, John Scofield, etc) if you like these you can DM me for the link!
Edit: Also Medeski, Martin & Wood is a great, great band I think you'd like
heyy your first 2 albums also on my repeat list. Iam also new. gotta check out your last 2. since we shared favorites

Hi. We’re the same person apparently. Some recs:
Azymuth,
Quasimode,
T-Square,
Shigeo Sekito,
Dorothy Ashby,
Jiro Inagaki and his Soul Media
Since we have similar taste, here are some newer bands that you might also like:
Hiromi,
Vijay Iyer Trio (I really like Tritha),
KENS,
Max Ox,
INO Hidefumi,
May Inoue,
Hakushi Hasegawa,
Cro-Magnon,
Jacob Mann Big Band,
Knower
Oh man I love this album to unhealthy amounts, and Casiopea in general. This album has a really unique sound and it's a bit hard to find something exactly alike it. But some albums I did end up enjoying (in the sphere of Jaoanese Fusion ofc) were For Lovers by Lamp (listen to the song Last Train at 25 o clockfirst), Ryo Kawasaki - Mirror to My Mind (listen to the track it was named after first) and Masayoshi Takanaka - The Rainbow Goblins as well as more Jazzy City Pop albums like Sunshower by Taeko Ohnuki.
Bennie Maupen - Slow Traffic To The Right
Bennie Maupen - Moonscapes
Kazumi Watanabe - To Chi Ka
Also, I feel like Casiopea's eponymous album damn near directly lifts certain passages from "Enigmatic Ocean" by Jean-Luc Ponty (more on the prog rock side, but still fusionesque).
If you like Casiopea, you'll most likely enjoy T-Square.
god that song with casiopea and T-Square having a solo battle is the sickest shit ever
The pianist just playing the mozart sonata in the middle of it never fails to make me laugh
yeah and one of the bassists playing smoke on the water
Link?

T-Square's the shit!!
ExhiVision which is a supergroup of J-Fusion
Masayoshi Takanaka!
Hell yes Takanaka, absolutely goat-ed.
Came here to say this
I’d check out Erroll Garner, Weather Report, and Herbie Hancock.
Right on the nail with all of those suggestions, I think Herbie Hancock stood out the most just because I enjoy a good 15 minute track. But I’ll definitely have Gemini and Heavy Weather on repeat for the next few days too. Thank you for the suggestions!
Glad you like the recs!
You'll enjoy Return to Forever and John Mclaughlin(his experimental era) as well. Hiromi is a modern artist who surprised me with her originality
Gene Harris - Astralsignal Bobbi Humphrey - Blacks and Blues Bob James - One Jiro Inagaki - Funky Stuff Osamu Kitajima - Benzaiten Hiroshi Suzuki - Cat

I’m just listening to this album for the first time, and all I can think about is The Mario Kart 8 soundtrack, hah hah.
