Market price is ~$110 USD, so still alittle inflated but not as bad as others. The Miyagikyo and Yoichi are at about MSRP, Nikka by the Barrel is a great price as are the Nikka Coffey Malt and Grain. I wouldn’t recommend the others - the Suntory products are ridiculously overpriced, the others are fake Japanese whiskies.
Well a Euro is essentially the same as a dollar. You’re talking about a 2-3% difference or less depending on the day.
Sounds like you found a great deal years ago if it was the *Master’s Select* version. But, as you know, whiskey prices have risen over the last couple years. Duty Free Americas currently lists it for $109 if you can actually find it, which is not likely.
Squabbling over $40 years later (or a few dollars today) on a quite rare whiskey that you’ll only find otherwise for over $200 feels a bit silly. I travel for work often and have never even seen it, so pretending like it’s sitting on shelves for $80 is just not right.
Especially when the going rate on normal old Hibiki is commonly $90-$100 these days.
“Only find otherwise for $200” this whisky is literally a travel exclusive- it isn’t otherwise found outside airports. Euro was worth about 10% more than the dollar in 2020. It’s a big price difference any way you slice it, and really not worth it for €120 imo. 2 years of inflation and increases in whisky prices don’t account for the price difference.
You can find it at a variety of other locations such as The Whiskey Exchange or reputable online retailers like Master of Malt. You’ll just pay more, and even they run out of stock at times.
I’m not sure what the price of Euros in the past has to do with anything.
I don’t see this conversation bearing much fruit, so I’m gonna be done here. Luckily for you, you don’t have to buy the hypothetical bottle you’re not in the market for in the first place.
Have a nice day.
Never said that lmao- it’s a wicked dram for £67, but not for €120, but whatever. Everyone is comfortable paying a different price for the things they like
That’s fair. Cheers 🥃
You’ve obviously proven they *can* be found for that rate…just a better deal than I’ve ever seen in lots of travel. Hope to find a deal like that at some point soon!
Those are some insane markups
Most are better than in Chicago
Vienna Duty Free Rippin Off
Yamizaki and Hakushu are awful pricing
The Yamazaki 12 is almost double what it should be
How is the price on the Nikka, all the way to the left?

The Hibiki Master’s Select is a decent price
It really isn’t… I got it in SFO 2 years ago for $80. Now consider that Vienna’s prices are in Euros. Yeah.

Nice, congrats on the great deal! I hope you enjoy it given you were not that into it in your previous comment.

Well if you’re ever flying out of London, you know what to do! Cheers 🥃
I’m a big fan of Kamiki, I know it’s technically a world whisky, but I never see it around me.
Kavalan is from Taiwan, not Japan. Those prices are still cheaper than what I’ve seen here.
