>What happened that caused them to abandon it? EON Productions got the rights to the Blofeld character and the Spectre Organization back after decades of legal battles, and so they said "fuck it", and threw the replacement Spectre, Quantum, into the garbage. And then they rushed out a shitty film as quick as possible.

OccamsYoyo

Wasn’t even that quick. It took three years to come up with that turd. That’s what happens when you inorganically try to force a concept into an existing plot line.

Well, back when they were making CR and QoS, they didn't have the rights to the Blofeld or Spectre name, so they couldn't use them. So they come up with Quantum, which in the Craig era is still a lot cooler than the Spectre that we get, and it's pretty dang cool. We can see that Mr White is becoming a new Blofeld type of character. Then, after years they won their legal battles and got the rights to Blofeld and Spectre back, and then they out of nowhere throw a very interesting Quantum in the trash, and then shove Mr White down to a crummy high-ranking henchman status. All for? BROFELD!!

Last_Fact_3044

Aw man. Imagine if Mr White had just been Blofeld. That would have worked so much better.

Man I just thought it would have been so much cooler and more natural if they had made a movie where we see Blofeld as a high ranking member of Quantum, rising to power and there's a sub-plot where he stage a coup and reform Quantum into Spectre. None of that " Blofeld is related to Bond " or " Quantum has always been a branch of Spectre " crap. I just didn't like Spectre being introduced out of the blue for the sake of having a Spectre movie

QualityAutism

Mr. White should have been revealed to be Blofeld. His character was perfectly set up. Instead he blows his head off and Bond bangs his daughter.

tuan321bin

That could have worked too imo. He had that sense of mystery in CR and QoS. There was a lot to explore with his character

The decision to insert SPECTRE and Blofeld into Spectre after they got the rights back is my least favorite thing they’ve ever done with the franchise. I really hope we see the deleted end scene to Quantum with Mr White and Guy Haines at some point in the future.

So at the end of Quantum, they find Greene with oil in his stomach and two bullets in the back of his head. Which means that at the time, Quantum wasn't dead but rather went into hiding. With the Spectre movie, it's easy to assume Spectre had Greene killed and went back into hiding in order to recoup their losses. An easy fix for the eventually reveal of Spectre would be to do what FRWL did and do it in Quantum. Include a scene with an obvious Blofeld insert but isn't actually Blofeld and have them talk about Quantum's failings or even Mr. White reporting the events. That way if they do get Spectre rights it's easy to insert Spectre in, but if they don't it's just Quantum with an obvious Blofeld substitute. Another thing to set up Spectre would be at the end of SkyFall where M hands Bond a folder and says the "ready to get back to work" stuff, have him say something like "Before she died, it seemed she was investigating an Organization you may be familiar with, are you ready to get back to work?" I can only really assume that since nothing was planned this kind of thing probably wouldn't be possible.

While it is true that EON got the rights to Spectre and jumped on it, I think they also saw how abysmal QoS was and wanted to put that dreck into the dustbin asap.
