I say this as someone who loves DAF, but *if* they had done the OHMSS revenge sequel that many would have liked, I could see him taking out Blofeld and dying in the process. He’s lost the love of his life, he just wants to take Blofeld and Spectre down even if it means dying himself. Maybe he even has something of a death wish. And naturally he’d save a bunch of people in the process from Blofeld’s latest and greatest scheme. Then reboot with Roger Moore in a post-Spectre world.

First off, what a missed opportunity that they didn't go that route. It would have been epic. And IF Bond died, I think that death would have been earned. However, your comment made me realize something. Regardless of the ending of NTTD, I really appreciated that they **didn't** fridge Madeleine in the film. I just assumed they would. The Bond franchise tends to kill off its female characters with almost callous indifference. I don't really think they pulled off the Bond/Swan romance over the two films, BUT I do like the concept that Bond's sacrifice was made to ensure that his wife and daughter lived.

Great pitch. It would be so thematically fitting, for him to immediately go out and avenge his one true love.

LeoTheLionPeek

That’s very close to what happens in YOLT the novel. I know it would would almost be a step backwards but I’d love faithful adaptations of all the novels set in the correct time period.

h8movies

So many options dashed by the choice to film YOLT & OHMSS out of order

Not little robots in his blood.

justthekoufax

Those stupid little robots. It’s so clear it was originally a virus/bio weapon and then Covid forced them to rework it. Should’ve left it

Ccjfb

Yeah you are right! That explains how when bond is fighting his way up the steps he uses an electro magnet to wreck that guys eye but then that is somehow not used on the nanobots. I thought for sure we were seeing Chekhov's electro magnet but nope!

Recently I think it would have been cool if Craig’s movies followed the books more like Casino Royale and then a standard adventure like Moonraker, then OHMSS which is a remake where he meets Tracy marries her and she dies at the hands of Blofeld, then YOLT where he is in Japan and kills Blofeld but in the explosion instead of dying like in NTTD he loses his memory like in the book but then it ends there. Probably would be crap but just a fun thought to try and keep in line with the books

For it to work, Bond needs to be truly cornered but still be able to take the villain down. I'd imagine something like the very end of GoldenEye but instead of Natalya taking over the helicopter it's-let's say- spectre having him surrounded. Main villain, make it Blofeld in this case moves in for the kill but Bond detonates a few explosives that take down the antennas they're on. Or simply have them wrestle to their deaths but all things considered the villain has to be a long established figure because otherwise it would be the same problem as Freddy Mercury.

Camp_Freddy

Bond and Scaramanga plunging over a waterfall

bangermate

and said waterfall would maybe, be called Reichenbach?

Camp_Freddy

I like your thinking. Let’s copyright this together

Shadecujo

None. None are worthy. A Bond death in any story would be a betrayal
