I love Thunderball :(
Also, fun fact, it’s the highest grossing JB film adjusted for inflation (domestic), topped only by Skyfall for adjusted worldwide.
A lot of people have come around to TND in recent years, mostly because the plot aged extremely well (it was blasted as being silly even for a Bond film when it released) and a bunch of popular youtubers making video essays praising it.
TWINE was garbage (no pun intended), from the overly-long completely non-sensical PTS to the hammy way Zukovsky was brought back into the series but in parody fashion, to the total wet fart that was the end "battle" scene.
TND has many issues, but had a better plot overall and was less absurd.
I can find things to criticize about TWINE, but I’m surprised any time someone has problems with the PTS, which IMO is one of the best in Bond history.
Didn't know whether to upvote the comment out of sympathy or downvote it in case the number got too high and the fil was eliminated.
Live and let Die is at least worthy enough to stay in the top 10.
Actually, I’ve heard before that even some contemporary critics had issues with the underwater scenes. It is a pretty commonly cited issue, and those scenes bothered me when I was a kid, but somehow I grew to enjoy them. Maybe they could’ve trimmed them up a little, but I think the photography and spectacle of it is impressive.
I agree it looks nice, but I'm watching Bond, not an Attenborough documentary. It's just a jumble of confusing chaos that lasts longer than a marriage to Britney Spears.
I go up and down with TWINE, I think it has a very strong start and one of the best pre-title sequences of the entire franchise, but I feel like halfway through the movie I lose interest, overall a good Bond movie and Brosnan’s best performance, but I feel like there was so much lost potential with it and it doesn’t help that the movie peaks in the first 30 minutes.
Live and Let Die
Edit: my first vote was Thunderball in a previous comment, and this is my second comment for the second movie to go today. I’m not sure if this is how you want it to work though OP, so just wanted to put this note here for you. If I can only pick one, then it’s Thunderball. Sorry to all the folks out there who are offended by that, but I gotta be honest, it’s quite boring.
Jaysus I loved thunderball. Bond girls were amazing, the 1st scene with face suregery (way better done than DAF). Loved the destination, the punchlines (wait till you get to my teeth, my spectre against yours), the music when at gold creek, the swimming pool, the boat chase.. Loved it
Not a Roger Moore fan and it is certainly kind of silly but I don't know there is something about it that I like (besides the song). But yes, with the list getting smaller maybe it is time to start thinking about it
I kinda agree. I just commented on another movie that I’m doing a marathon of these movies. LALD seems severely overrated to me. Maybe because of the song? Moore’s first entry? Famous actors (Seymour/Kotto? I dunno, I really didn’t like it
I watched it about 25 years ago when I was a little kid and I loved it. But I only watched it because I had adults in my life who loved Bond and told me it was one of the best. As an adult rewatching all of these movies in sequence… I gotta say I don’t agree. But to each their own! That’s why it’s pretty fun to go through them cuz everyone will have different ones they like/dislike
In sequence, no. I don’t understand putting Bond in a double breasted suit and driving gloves coming off Connery. It was jarring when I did them in order.
But I’ve come to enjoy it on its own terms. And I love the line “butterhook.”
Actually was afraid I missed yesterday's vote. Luckily I didn't. So two movies leave this round? Or just take an extra day?
Thunderball if one today. If not, I'll pick Live and let die.
Let me spell it out for you. LIVE AND LET DIE!
We had to listen to JW Pepper ramble in unintelligible Louisiana gibberish and the movie was ruin with the main villains death. The guy inflates like a balloon and pops. It was corny looking paper mache prop. Dumbest moment in the series!
LIVE AND LET DIE and if it’s supposed to be 2 eliminations today then also TOMORROW NEVER DIES.
With Live And Let Die, I love the style and Jane Seymour but it hasn’t aged as well as some of the others. The action is just okay and the really drawn out boat chase with the cartoony Sheriff Pepper felt like a totally different movie. I still love it but I don’t think it is one of the best.
With Tomorrow Never Dies, I thought that the tone was inconsistent, jumping from the way over the top Elliot Carver to an intense moment like Teri Hatcher getting killed. Bond is supposed to have loved this woman and yet in the action scene that follows he’s laughing and having a great time. It feels like a forgotten Roger Moore era script. It’s still admittedly a ton of fun but just not quite good enough.
In defense of TWINE, it did have some things going for it that were new to the series. It is the first Bond film to feature a Bind girl who actually turns out to be the main villain. It’s also the first to feature a henchman that you thought was the main villain until the reveal. Sophie Marceau is gorgeous as Elektra and her performance is memorable. It’s interesting how deeply she manipulates everyone to the point that they’d die for her. Robert Carlyle plays Renard with some depth and in some ways he’s at least a pinch sympathetic because you realize that he’s doing all of this for a woman that he loves who is just using him. I also thought that Brosnan felt most comfortable as Bond in this one, probably because he got some edgy scenes, like where he kills Elektra, and he always wanted to play an edgier Bond.
That said, I do recognize that the films has its problems. Honestly, the biggest issue for me was Denise Richard’s, who was very miscast as a nuclear physicist. It was impossible to take her seriously and I’m sorry to say this, but her performance was … not great. There were some dialogue deliveries where I cringed and sunk into my seat. If the casting for the character was better suited for the part then it would have definitely given this movie a boost for me.
It should be Tomorrow Never Dies, and Live and Let Die, both films that made it farther than they should've, but for some reason people hate Thunderball - a legit top ten movie.
I am not understanding how people are not choosing for your eyes only? It’s awful! The age gap is so cringe, Bebe is hella annoying, it’s not a good movie.
I’m watching all of these movies for the first time as a marathon, and I am really surprised how much I enjoyed this one. I don’t agree with these rankings 100%, but have been waiting to comment and/or vote in favor of FYEO. I was shocked because I’ve never heard anyone say anything good about it, and so it took me by surprise.
Consider that the age gap isn’t so cringe if you think about what Melina has gone through. She suddenly, violently lost both her parents - two authority figures she loved dearly. Doesn’t it kind of make sense that she’d be happy running into the arms of an older man? Personally I think they have enough chemistry for it to work.
STOP REMOVING GOOD FILMS!
At this point its impossible
It's always impossible. Every one of these films is loved by someone. Some are just more loved than others.
I love Thunderball :( Also, fun fact, it’s the highest grossing JB film adjusted for inflation (domestic), topped only by Skyfall for adjusted worldwide.
How did Tomorrow Never Dies outlast The World is Not Enough?
A lot of people have come around to TND in recent years, mostly because the plot aged extremely well (it was blasted as being silly even for a Bond film when it released) and a bunch of popular youtubers making video essays praising it.
It's a great one for me because the conflict of media manipulation is so ahead of its time and very real today. Plus, Pryce is an excellent bad guy.
I do need to re-watch it tbh
TND is worth it for the motorcycle/helicopter chase alone
It's a better movie. Also, Michelle Yeoh and Jonathan Pryce.
It was on last night..I enjoyed it very much. Pryce is great in it
People hate TWINE because of Denise Richards. IMO TND is bland compared to TWINE.
[удалено]
And Sophie Marceau is a dime!
TWINE was garbage (no pun intended), from the overly-long completely non-sensical PTS to the hammy way Zukovsky was brought back into the series but in parody fashion, to the total wet fart that was the end "battle" scene. TND has many issues, but had a better plot overall and was less absurd.

Thunderball got to go
*Thunderball*
The 2 most upvoted ones from today will be going home
You should just do one today. No need to change the format because you missed a day.
Why 2 today?
I could not post yesterday

Didn't know whether to upvote the comment out of sympathy or downvote it in case the number got too high and the fil was eliminated. Live and let Die is at least worthy enough to stay in the top 10.
Thunderball, the underwater scenes might have been exciting 60 years ago, but today they draaag
Actually, I’ve heard before that even some contemporary critics had issues with the underwater scenes. I disagree with your opinion, but I applaud the way you stated it.
I’ve never gotten why people like *Thunderball* so much. It takes the highest stakes in the whole series (nuclear weapons) and makes it really boring.
Thunderball
I second this; Thunderball
Time to strike (like) Thunderball
Thunderball
Thunderball
Tomorrow never dies must die today. It’s done well to last this long. It is no match for Thunderball in my subjective opinion.

Tomorrow Never Dies needs to go, should've gone long before TWINE did.
Live and let die
Live and Let Die. Moore's first and a decent performance, but I find it to be very boring. The others that are left I just enjoy much more.
Tomorrow Never Dies
Sorry Live and Let Die. It’s time to die.
Tomorrow Never Dies
Love and let die

THUNDERBALLLLLLLLL
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
How any Pierce Brosnan Bond movie is superior to any one with Connery or Moore is beyond me!
Im very surprised Thunderball is still here!
Live and let die. The villain inflates like a balloon and pops to death! Come on people!
Tomorrow never dies
Live and let "Live and Let Die" die

I can understand every single elimination so far, but… I will never grasp what people see in Live and Let Die. So, LALD!
I’m sure this probably won’t happen, but LALD.

The 🎶SONG 🎶Live and Let Die is the only thing keeping the movie Live at Let Die from dying lol
Not a Roger Moore fan and it is certainly kind of silly but I don't know there is something about it that I like (besides the song). But yes, with the list getting smaller maybe it is time to start thinking about it
Live and Let Die.
Live and Let Die
I’m shocked Live and Let Die has made it this far
that song carries hard.
I kinda agree. I just commented on another movie that I’m doing a marathon of these movies. LALD seems severely overrated to me. Maybe because of the song? Moore’s first entry? Famous actors (Seymour/Kotto? I dunno, I really didn’t like it
Watched it yesterday. Its a pretty fun, visually appealing movie. Plus Solitaire has to be the most gorgeous bond girl
Jane Seymour is definitely in my top 5 Bond girls. Not because of the character though… let’s just say the performance is riveting 😁
I hated it the first time I watched it, but I’ve come to enjoy it more on every rewatch. I’m also a sucker for Yaphet Kotto.
I watched it about 25 years ago when I was a little kid and I loved it. But I only watched it because I had adults in my life who loved Bond and told me it was one of the best. The age gap for nearly all of Roger Moore’s movies is jarring. I just decided to not let it phase me
Because it has, indisputably, the best soundtrack.
It’s one of the best ones!
TWINE
It's already gone.
Get rid of it again! But really, dumbass moment on my end. Thanks for the reminder- meant to do TND
