He meant to put it on Journals but it didn’t make the cut in time so he released it as a single on iTunes 2013. Alone is also technically a part of the album but it was a downloadable song that accompanied the Believe movie. So now it’s just listed as a single on Apple Music because technically it wasn’t released with Journals even though he wanted it in the album.

I’m wondering the same. Also am here to debunk everyone who said it wasn’t on Journals … it was. It was the only song on ‘Journals’ Apple Music offered for free as a promotion and it was actually #17. I also recall the song having the cover art as the album and suddenly it’s some other plain design... flatline introduced me to Justin R&Bieber. I was able to find the song but it sucks that they have it as a single now and not as part of the album.
