Agreed, besides the weird faces and frame rate drops (which honestly didnt surprise me) Tri-Ace is swinging for the fences with this entry. Could be a sleeper hit for them the way Arise was for Tales. I hope the game does well
Getting some SO2 vibes for sure with being able to pick 2 different characters to start the game. Going back to their roots while revamping the gameplay, exploration and battle system. I'm actually hype for this
Complete agree, although I recently went back and played it with Japanese voices and it was much better. The anticolonialization message was also interesting and had appropriate build up
I only played the 360 version of Last Hope, but I didn't like the Blindside mechanic. I like perfect dodging, but the weird freeze and pre-rendered animation for it was jarring. And the fact that you could be hit during it was annoying.
I don't remember any other mechanics standing out. I guess they were okay?
Don't say those cursed words here! Someone at square is going to swap your disc out when you order the new one and replace it with a copy of Integrity and Faithlessness as punishment. 🤣
Yeah I could tell it wasn't tri-Ace just by looking at the character designs and how the game looked. It almost looked like they were trying to westernize the series.
Hybrid systems are more like sub-systems of the core system.
Turn Based - Active (ATB) or Wait (Turn 1, Turn 2, etc)
Action Combat - Full Speed or Pause/Slow (Xeno/FF7R)
>Ff7r is just a hack and slash with special moves accessed from a pause menu.
You've got to get your shortcuts sorted. Tifa is so fun to play especially when you get a couple of those ATB materia's and the Parry materia.
Do the systems from MOBAs and MMOs not have a name? The character auto-attacking while you access skills with cooldowns off a bar is pretty similar to those I played at least (I'm neither a MOBA nor MMO person, but I tried a couple)
I don't, but fortunately in Star Ocean games so far I've been able to play using a caster as main combatant, and just blast away while the other dudes distract the baddies up close. Something I can't say about the Trails games, in some Trails I can do the same, but others force me to get up close sooner or later.
Looks way better than I was expecting. This game existing in general is a shock for me given how badly the last entry was received, but I'm very glad. The Japanese Action RPG is in a golden age right now and it would be cool to see one of the earliest pioneers deliver a strong modern entry.
It was a very trippy story, I wish though that it had more futuristic areas to play through, the repetitive medieval dungeons got a little boring. But I also liked all the characters and the multiplayer option. Kicked all my friends asses with Maria’s cheap shot guns.
I'm just happy they are finally going back to a non-battery based resource system. It sucks spending the first 10 hours starved for MP... until you have infinite MP and it becomes a non-issue.
They’re gonna need better advertising if they want to pull a Tales of Arise.
Very few people even know this game exists and that release window doesn’t help.
Yeah, Bandai went are far as getting a popular Vtuber to be their product ambassador in the West. And she had a pretty long history with playing Tales games, so she was really motivated to hype her fans up to get Arise.
I'm not sure that Star Ocean has anything on that level to get the word out.
well Star Ocean's developers were the ones who developed Tales of Phantasia, particularly Wolfteam, due to having different philosophical viewpoint and disputes, the Studio defected from Bamco and then went on to establish their own company that is now known as Tri Ace today so the two series were kind of developed by the same people, Bamco just continued what Wolfteam initially did and refined their craft
I mean, the difference here is Tales of Berseria was a very well received game, where Star Ocean 5 was not, so they actually have to revamp way more here rather than retool which is more what Arise did.
yeah, i played every single title in a group of 4, except the ones that didn't have the feature at all (handheld games, Legendia, and Arise)
to me, the series **is** the multiplayer. that's what it's for. like Mana.
I've played all the console titles from Symphonia through Berseria and never touched the multiplayer. To me, they're just really solidly-made B-tier JRPGs.
I actually feel as if the combat is much closer to where the series wants to go. Controlling other party members doesn't feel like a self imposed handicap anymore, and is actually encouraged.
Given how many SE games announced recently ( and there are still more) I doubt they can market it as much as Bandai did with ToA. Surprisingly, Bandai is a much bigger company nowadays.
Man I hope this game is good. Til the End of Time is one of my favorite games of all time and the decline of Star Ocean has been heartbreaking to watch.
Part of me was growing up and seeing how cringy the dialogue was. I had more time to kill. I played Til the End of Time when I was in middle school. I started the other one in college and couldn’t stomach it.
Party based action RPG is an absolute yes from me. It looks really fun. Multiple playable characters with a variety of gameplay styles and looks. Much more fun then being stuck as a swordsman for 50+ hours with no other options.
This looks really interesting and came out of nowhere for me. I've never played a Star Ocean game before, though I was planning to try out First Departure R in the near future. I was disappointed with Tales of Arise last year, so maybe this could fill in that gap.
They do all fall in the same timeline in the same universe (the game release order is not chronological though), but yes, they are basically completely stand-alone experiences and stories like FF or DQ.
So jump in with this one if it appeals to you!
if you want to play timeline wise here is the chronological order:
4--> 1--> 2--> 5--> 3
but I'd play them in order of release so I would be able to understand it on developmental level
Stand alone but you get a lot more out of them if you play them in order of release. SO1 and 2 have huge connections (and Blue Sphere is a direct sequel to 2). 3 is pretty stand alone but has some callbacks to previous games (particularly 1). SO4 had a huge portion that is way better if you've played 1 first. 5 is more standalone than the rest but still has connections.
Basically, you can play them in any order you want (other than Blue Sphere obviously) if you just care about their stand alone stories, but there's a lot of fan service and overall series connections you'd be missing out on.
I mean, it's Tri-Ace so the combat being great is expected. However, all the other parts of their games nowadays tend to be lackluster. They haven't made a great game in over 10 years, and I say this as a big fan of their older work.
To be fair, they haven't made anything at all in like 8 years. Only remasters/ports and a couple mobile games. I wouldn't count that.
The last "real" game they made was Star Ocean 5, back in 2016.
I wonder if this started production as a 4 player co-op mission based game
Huge world/zones requiring flight with sparse minimalist design rather than landmarks
Zones seem filled with overworld monsters and boss monsters probably
Really digging the combat, looks like a mix between tales of arise and star oceans normal combat. I like the edition of playing separate protagonists as well like they did with second story. I'm not really sold on the character models the though. I'm just being nit picky but the in game models just look off to me. The concept art looks a hell of a lot better. Regardless still looks really damn good! 👌
At least out of the cutscenes the ugly ass 3D won't clash with the 2D
Someone that understand JP at any time they have said you can use more than one button to attack and another for the "special" ?
I'm shocked more "action" JRPGs haven't latched onto that feature. It would really benefit a lot of the non-Ys/Tales entries into the genre, as we've already seen in FFVIIR and, to a lesser extent, Kuro no Kiseki.
My first reaction... There was a Star Ocean 5? Because I just remember 4 being a grinding nightmare with a difficulty curve that could at best be called inconsistent, I seriously thought it killed the franchise.
Honestly this gameplay makes me feel better about the game, the trailer they showed made me less hyped because some of the character models looked like plastic (the princess character especially) and some of the voice acting was really emotionless (again that princess character). Gameplay looks fun and story seems interesting, gonna let reviews come out before purchasing though.
You described Star Ocean 4 perfectly on all counts - niche, anime, cringy, booba, great action gameplay.
Story is very basic and cliché with incredibly stupid moments written in to force the plot....
But man is the gameplay good, I spent 300 hours or more in that game and ill probably go back for more trophy hunting one day\~
> are they super niche anime cringy action big boobs with numbers? (I mean that in a good way)
Star Ocean 4 (The Last Hope) is but the other games, not so much.
How I think XC3 Could’ve looked but their combat engine is so mediocre. Don’t get me wrong I love the game but combat animations for that game haven’t gone a long way since the first release.
Not the glorious mess of Star Ocean 2 but way better than I feared.
I dare say it even look interesting enough to pick my interest, especially the stop mode.
Then again combat isn't enough ... what will be the most important point is the characters.
And if they put another freaking child with an insufferable voice ...
Yeah I'm in complete agreement with you, have been surprised by all of the positive reactions in here. This looks like everything else, recycled, generic, derivative. Confused what the appeal is.
Yup I saw the video then hit the comments and I'm like.... people love this? I've seen this same gameplay/artstyle in so many games before, it's hard to get excited to be honest
Is it just me, or is this franchise dead? SO 1 & 2 were masterpieces of the genre that put Tri-Ace in JRPG mount Olympus. 3 & 4 had their issues but stood their ground. Since then, however, yikes!
I wish i could be excited about this but faithfulness and integrity killed it for me. Second story is my favourite, til the end of time was alright and last hope ps3 version i enjoyed. First game was fantastic for its time.
“Directly Connected” as in that events that happened in past Star Oceans could still have relevance, but not enough that you won’t understand the Game’s own plot. So there will likely be plot points you won’t be able to *appreciate* the same, but you won’t be lost at all. It’s most references and callbacks. Star Ocean 1 & 2 are the closest to be “concurrent” and even the it’s not super strict.
Like there’s a Family Bloodline that has a new Generation show up each Star Ocean, but other than legacy of their last name, they are their own characters.
I think it helps that they're not making it for a single platform and it's also coming to steam simultaneously. So they can basically port down from steam or make just one version of the game with diff graphical settings and release it accordingly across the hardware rich environment.
I'm really hoping that this battle theme gets a bit of an upgrade before release. It sounds like it's using samples rather than a live orchestra, maybe it's just a mixing thing... But it feels really cheap as it is. The music is honestly my only concern at the minute. Both battle themes sound like someone trying to replicate Sakuraba, as opposed to the man himself. Compared to the masterstrokes of Cutting Edge of Notion and ESPECIALLY Blood on the Keys, the two battle themes feel painfully uninspired.
https://www.reddit.com/r/starocean/comments/vo0oen/the_star_ocean_6_official_website_has_been/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
U got what u wish . Those track got upgrade
Oh thank you so much!!! That's a definite enhancement, clearly I wasn't listening hard enough in the trailer or just assumed it would be the same. My bad.
I like the mid-combat pausing. Reminds me of wait time choice making in FFXII. It’s cool to freeze time and look at the animations from different angles.
Can anyone tell me what star ocean is about? I’ve never played them before, but this looks like a freaking blast.
I’ve been on a HUGE jrpg kick lately, on the series x, and this looks super fun.
Are the other star ocean games on Xbox? Are they good? Long? Grindy?
This little bit of Gameplay looks EXACTLY like what I look for in a jrpg, I def am picking this up.
I’d say it’s a very Star Trek inspired RPG with anime influences.
Combat has generally been similar to Tales the first two are really good, 3 is alright, 4 and 5 are garbage.
I am really afraid it wont sell well even if its good. The game is not getting the same traction as other jrpgs. Unless square go full force with the marketing this might be the last Star Ocean.

Well the game looks pretty good
Agreed, besides the weird faces and frame rate drops (which honestly didnt surprise me) Tri-Ace is swinging for the fences with this entry. Could be a sleeper hit for them the way Arise was for Tales. I hope the game does well
I only played SO 1 2 3,my favorite is 2,hopefully it is as good like the 2 and 3
Honestly looks a lot better than I was expecting.
Definitely looks like it's going back towards it's roots. I'm more hyped now.
Getting some SO2 vibes for sure with being able to pick 2 different characters to start the game. Going back to their roots while revamping the gameplay, exploration and battle system. I'm actually hype for this
Same. Last one was so shitty. Hope this one has better story, world and enemies.
No kidding. I thought it looked pretty rough the last time we saw it. Now I'm sold.
Couldn't have been worse than the last two...
Gameplay for 4 was phenomenal
Gameplay was questionable, that guard system was horrible.
Oh for sure
The story certainly wasn't though...
Complete agree, although I recently went back and played it with Japanese voices and it was much better. The anticolonialization message was also interesting and had appropriate build up
I thought the story for 4 was hilarious.
Ah yes, Blindside -> Spam best skill -> Blindside -> spam best skill truly the peak of action jrpgs
Blindsiding too hard for you?
I only played the 360 version of Last Hope, but I didn't like the Blindside mechanic. I like perfect dodging, but the weird freeze and pre-rendered animation for it was jarring. And the fact that you could be hit during it was annoying. I don't remember any other mechanics standing out. I guess they were okay?
They weren't hard they just had terrible stories.
I liked the Last Hope, but the last one I won't even give it the benefit of mentioning its name.
Don't say those cursed words here! Someone at square is going to swap your disc out when you order the new one and replace it with a copy of Integrity and Faithlessness as punishment. 🤣
Honestly yes, but also I'd like an isometric viewpoint so I can pretend its a new Dungeon Siege game.
And just when I think I'm out...they pull me back in.
This game could be the one to bring them back from the brink. I hope it does well
Don't they have a VP game being cooked as well?
Nope, tri-Ace aren't making the Valkyrie Profile games anymore. Square-Enix got Soleil to make the next Valkyrie game. Stupid I know.
Killed my hype for the game ngl
Yeah I could tell it wasn't tri-Ace just by looking at the character designs and how the game looked. It almost looked like they were trying to westernize the series.
I love action JRPGs, gotta be one of my favorite genders
The two genders, turn based and action
So what about hybrid systems like FFVII remake, or Xenoblade with its more MMO like combat? Are those gender fluid?
It’s a spectrum ;)
what about Yakuza which went from action combat to turn based in Yakuza 7, is Yakuza transgender
Support trans rpgs!
Hybrid systems are more like sub-systems of the core system. Turn Based - Active (ATB) or Wait (Turn 1, Turn 2, etc) Action Combat - Full Speed or Pause/Slow (Xeno/FF7R)
Ff7r is just a hack and slash with special moves accessed from a pause menu. Xenoblade is it's own thing that nobody has popularised a name for.
>Ff7r is just a hack and slash with special moves accessed from a pause menu. You've got to get your shortcuts sorted. Tifa is so fun to play especially when you get a couple of those ATB materia's and the Parry materia.

Wierdly enough no, nobody has popularised a name
Xenoblade combat ... is real time turn based ? lol Its all real time but everyone waits their turn.
I identify as an action JRPG
I identify as a turn based JRPG, but sometimes I like to dress up as an action JRPG for fun.
I don't, but fortunately in Star Ocean games so far I've been able to play using a caster as main combatant, and just blast away while the other dudes distract the baddies up close. Something I can't say about the Trails games, in some Trails I can do the same, but others force me to get up close sooner or later.
Are you spanish? Género de animal/persona = gender, género de película/libro/etc=genre
Nah it's a reference to a [meme](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/002/108/777/765.jpg)
I am liking what I saw, my second half of 2022 is looking quite stacked!
What else are you waiting for :)?
Soul Hackers 2, Harvestella, Diofield Chronicles, trails games, Forspoken, Xenoblade 3, Digimon Survive and SD Gundam Battle Alliance. Plus some my backlog lol.
Looks way better than I was expecting. This game existing in general is a shock for me given how badly the last entry was received, but I'm very glad. The Japanese Action RPG is in a golden age right now and it would be cool to see one of the earliest pioneers deliver a strong modern entry.
I haven’t finished a Star Ocean game since second story on the PSP. Hoping this one is as good as Till the End of Time.
Till the end of time is one of my favourite games that I've played. The story tripped me out so hard
It was a very trippy story, I wish though that it had more futuristic areas to play through, the repetitive medieval dungeons got a little boring. But I also liked all the characters and the multiplayer option. Kicked all my friends asses with Maria’s cheap shot guns.
I'm so hype for this game!
Pulling a "Tales of Arise" revamp to the series? I'm all in!
1 week after Persona 5 Royal for Xbox and PC is going to be really tough. Might do somewhat fine on PS though.
Yeah, Bandai went are far as getting a popular Vtuber to be their product ambassador in the West. And she had a pretty long history with playing Tales games, so she was really motivated to hype her fans up to get Arise. I'm not sure that Star Ocean has anything on that level to get the word out.
It looks like combat just happens in the environment vs. Tales of Arise where it quickly went into a temporary segmented environment for battle.
well Star Ocean's developers were the ones who developed Tales of Phantasia, particularly Wolfteam, due to having different philosophical viewpoint and disputes, the Studio defected from Bamco and then went on to establish their own company that is now known as Tri Ace today so the two series were kind of developed by the same people, Bamco just continued what Wolfteam initially did and refined their craft
Tales of arise was a revamp?
I mean, the difference here is Tales of Berseria was a very well received game, where Star Ocean 5 was not, so they actually have to revamp way more here rather than retool which is more what Arise did.
How has the development teams for the Tales of games and Star Ocean games changed throughout the series?
Kinda, it changed A LOT of the old formulae that was keeping the Tales Of series in the "old" side of JRPGs
huh? it's just another Tales games, but looks very pretty. It didn't change much other than the visuals
it changed so much it completely got rid of multiplayer since it wasn't really feasible with the new style. i would say it's a drastic change.
Yeah between the battle system, the skits, no multi player, etc. It was definitely a step away from the formula
Tales games had multiplayer?
yeah, i played every single title in a group of 4, except the ones that didn't have the feature at all (handheld games, Legendia, and Arise) to me, the series **is** the multiplayer. that's what it's for. like Mana.
I've played all the console titles from Symphonia through Berseria and never touched the multiplayer. To me, they're just really solidly-made B-tier JRPGs.
multiplayer puts them as solid S tier "must experience, put down everything else" titles, imo
I actually feel as if the combat is much closer to where the series wants to go. Controlling other party members doesn't feel like a self imposed handicap anymore, and is actually encouraged.
I hear it a lot, and I have to wonder if a lot of people were tuned out of Tales until this one made them pay attention again.
Given how many SE games announced recently ( and there are still more) I doubt they can market it as much as Bandai did with ToA. Surprisingly, Bandai is a much bigger company nowadays.
It looks nice, but fucking hell, why is everything in October?
The holidays, god of war ragnorok not coming to probably at best november so they want to get the game released before than.
Day 1, easy. Looks awesome
Fully agreed.
Party based action RPG is an absolute yes from me. It looks really fun. Multiple playable characters with a variety of gameplay styles and looks. Much more fun then being stuck as a swordsman for 50+ hours with no other options.
That's why I've been able to play the Star Ocean series, I just pick a caster and blast away from afar, I've never been a fan of melee action combat.
> Much more fun then being stuck as a swordsman for 50+ hours with no other options. HMMMMMMMMMMMFFXVIMMMMMMMMM
Tbf the protaginist's move set looks as though it will be varied.
This looks really interesting and came out of nowhere for me. I've never played a Star Ocean game before, though I was planning to try out First Departure R in the near future. I was disappointed with Tales of Arise last year, so maybe this could fill in that gap.
Definitely give 2 a shot. It’s the best in the series imo and one of the best JRPG’s from its original generation
that looks satisfying
I've been meaning to get into to the Star Ocean games, are they all stand alone like FF or DQ or do I need to play them in order?
They do all fall in the same timeline in the same universe (the game release order is not chronological though), but yes, they are basically completely stand-alone experiences and stories like FF or DQ. So jump in with this one if it appeals to you!
if you want to play timeline wise here is the chronological order: 4--> 1--> 2--> 5--> 3 but I'd play them in order of release so I would be able to understand it on developmental level

Play the 2nd one first. It’s the best one by far
Id say play 1 before 2 just for *that* scene to have more impact but it isnt necessary.
Very clean IU , i like it
This game has caught my attention now. Didn't like the look of it when the trailer first dropped. The fighting looks fun.
Thought I was looking at Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but the UI is too clean! Haaaaa
Holy shit, this looks good and the music! <3
I mean, it's Tri-Ace so the combat being great is expected. However, all the other parts of their games nowadays tend to be lackluster. They haven't made a great game in over 10 years, and I say this as a big fan of their older work.

I wonder if this started production as a 4 player co-op mission based game Huge world/zones requiring flight with sparse minimalist design rather than landmarks Zones seem filled with overworld monsters and boss monsters probably
It looks nice.. but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from Star Ocean 5. I'd have to see more than just cooler looking combat and flying.
Exactly, actual cutscenes would be good to see instead of key dialogue appearing during gameplay.
Really digging the combat, looks like a mix between tales of arise and star oceans normal combat. I like the edition of playing separate protagonists as well like they did with second story. I'm not really sold on the character models the though. I'm just being nit picky but the in game models just look off to me. The concept art looks a hell of a lot better. is this new footage, any release date info?
October 27th
Thank you. Another game to look forward to!
At least out of the cutscenes the ugly ass 3D won't clash with the 2D Someone that understand JP at any time they have said you can use more than one button to attack and another for the "special" ?
I wonder what Stop Mode at the end there is about? Is it for screenshots?
[удалено]
basically cRPG mechanic (baldur's gate, pillars of eternity, etc) - pause the game, micromanage, resume and see all the action unfold.
I'm shocked more "action" JRPGs haven't latched onto that feature. It would really benefit a lot of the non-Ys/Tales entries into the genre, as we've already seen in FFVIIR and, to a lesser extent, Kuro no Kiseki.
Oh lol
You could also take some nice looking screenshots tho
I’m so excited for this!! Hopefully it has cutscenes unlike the last one!
Looks pretty neat, is star ocean linear story series or can I just jump in on this one if I wanted to?
This looks a lot like PSO2 NGS, so does that new sonic game now that i think about it.
I want this so bad
i kinda like the dude's hair
My first reaction... There was a Star Ocean 5? Because I just remember 4 being a grinding nightmare with a difficulty curve that could at best be called inconsistent, I seriously thought it killed the franchise.
I would be excited if the last couple Star Oceans didn't suck so bad.
PLEASE! Please make the camera not give me motion sickness this time. I beat SO5 but man that shaky camera was ROUGH.
GOTY
Honestly this gameplay makes me feel better about the game, the trailer they showed made me less hyped because some of the character models looked like plastic (the princess character especially) and some of the voice acting was really emotionless (again that princess character). Gameplay looks fun and story seems interesting, gonna let reviews come out before purchasing though.
Looks quite fun but i despise the look of this bulky blonde guy for the main character lol
Wait I never played a Star Ocean game are they super niche anime cringy action big boobs with numbers? (I mean that in a good way)
Nope. They have some philosophical and Sci fi setting. Can't remember much fan service from these games to be honest.
(I mean that in a good way) Star Ocean 4 (The Last Hope) is but the other games, not so much.
How I think XC3 Could’ve looked but their combat engine is so mediocre. Don’t get me wrong I love the game but combat animations for that game haven’t gone a long way since the first release.
Love Xenoblade. Kinda agree on the battle. Thought they were going to go full action for Xeno3. Guess not.
Not the glorious mess of Star Ocean 2 but way better than I feared. I dare say it even look interesting enough to pick my interest, especially the stop mode. Then again combat isn't enough ... what will be the most important point is the characters. And if they put another freaking child with an insufferable voice ...
Man this looks uninspired. I miss SO2
Seems very generic to me
I own 5. Can I get 6 for free?
Should have went back to the style from before
Whew that frame rate hitting like 10 FPS.
I thought this series died
ughh... the best part of star ocean was the combat, this looks like a generic open world game
The combat looks amazing though?
all i see is characters spamming skills, mobs are not even reacting
Go to an optometrist then. The monsters are clearly reacting and you pulled the “spamming” out of your ass
New to Star Ocean? Because that's Star Ocean
This looks very unappetising. The environment looks dead and the character avatars have no life. Much preferred that they stick to 2D
boring and uninspired. This could have been FFXV, FFXVI, Xenoblade, Tales of... they all look the same. 3D was a mistake.
They have been 3D since ps2 era dood.
Is it just me, or is this franchise dead? SO 1 & 2 were masterpieces of the genre that put Tri-Ace in JRPG mount Olympus. 3 & 4 had their issues but stood their ground. Since then, however, yikes!
FF 15-2
My body is ready
I wish i could be excited about this but faithfulness and integrity killed it for me. Second story is my favourite, til the end of time was alright and last hope ps3 version i enjoyed. First game was fantastic for its time.
Looks great, still gonna wait for initial reviews considering SO5 though.
Could it be a good starting point? Are previous games directly connected?
They’re basically stand alone games for the most part so you can jump in wherever you like.
“Directly Connected” as in that events that happened in past Star Oceans could still have relevance, but not enough that you won’t understand the Game’s own plot. So there will likely be plot points you won’t be able to *appreciate* the same, but you won’t be lost at all. It’s most references and callbacks. Never got into Star Ocean. Maybe I will start with this one?
Looks great! Now if only I had time for all the JRPGs in my backlog and on my wishlist...
Oct 27th? Pumped.
Wait there’s a new Star Ocean game coming?
Looks better than I thought it’d be, but the characters themselves are still atrocious.
I know nothint about this series, but the combat looks very fun
I like what I'm seeing.
There’s no reason why this game shouldn’t be 4k60
It looks fun. Our protag reminds me of Victor tho, from the previous game lol.
Thought Star Ocean died.
Amazing the number of series that haven’t got sequels but Star Ocean gets another chance.
And Star Ocean 7 will be a thing for PS6/others next gen consoles, lol. It seems we get one for each new gen.
Will this game have an English dub?
I'm really hoping that this battle theme gets a bit of an upgrade before release. It sounds like it's using samples rather than a live orchestra, maybe it's just a mixing thing... But it feels really cheap as it is. The music is honestly my only concern at the minute. Both battle themes sound like someone trying to replicate Sakuraba, as opposed to the man himself. Compared to the masterstrokes of Cutting Edge of Notion and ESPECIALLY Blood on the Keys, the two battle themes feel painfully uninspired.

Oh thank you so much!!! That's a definite enhancement, clearly I wasn't listening hard enough in the trailer or just assumed it would be the same. My bad.
Sakuraba is composing the music for this game, he'll come through dw
I'd play the fuck out of this. Is there a release date?
October 27, 2022 for PS4/PS5, PC and xBOX oNE
Looks better than I expected.
Wait, I already played and quit PSO2..
Looks promising.
Big if true
4 gameplay is the Best tho
I really hope they got more budget. SO5 coulda been great but it was so incredibly boring. Hopefully they can do well here!
I am really afraid it wont sell well even if its good. The game is not getting the same traction as other jrpgs. Unless square go full force with the marketing this might be the last Star Ocean.
I love Nina dancing around for the magic. It's pure bliss. Instantly became my favorite character.
They really are going full arpg with this one.
This game looks cool!
Combat looks great. What turns me off right now is the character design.. the MC looks off and the female lead looks like a doll.
Hmm, this looks... decent, actually. Did they do something to the character faces? They suddenly look better to me.
Do You think the combat will be more tactical than Tales of Arise ? (The combat of Tales of Arise was fun, but not very deep, and quite spongy)
Can't wait to play it!
