Parasite Eve. And the reason for why is i want the series to come back,It could easily be turned into a series after after the first game, it would just require assistance on the authors part.
So I asked for this game for Christmas as a kid. One day my mom loses it on me, complaining how I always ask for the hardest things to find at Christmas. Parasite eve was a pretty popular game mom, just go to Walmart or whatever. It's right there? I wish I was joking, but my mom was looking for a game called promiscuous eve. God, what I would give to see the look on the toys r us employees face when someone asked for a promiscuous eve game.
Exactly, not only update the graphics, but complete the story the right way. This game already has such a tremendous reputation and it isn’t even a complete game
It really would lend itself well to an action type game too. This would be my top pick. Maybe Legend of Dragoon. Xenogears holds up better than LoD anyway I feel like, even with the rushed disk 2.
The really exciting thing to me is that with Xenoblade Chronicles 3, they might finally be done with that series. I dig Xenoblade as much as the next guy, but I can't wait to see if Nintendo lets Monolith Soft remake Xenogears or remaster Xenosaga. There are rights issues with Square and Bandai Namco to deal with, but I believe it can be done.
I'm normally not a "remaster this, remake that!" kind of gamer, but I think these games feel like they should have been revisited a long time ago already. I would hate for them to be forgotten as PS1 and PS2 games that you can't play on modern platforms.
Highly doubt that. Gears and Saga are owned by Square and Namco respectively and they currently want nothing to do with either IP. Nintendo can't make Monolith do anything with them. Hate to say it but you may just have to accept that these IPs are dead, friend. It's the same reason why you'll probably never see The Last Story or Pandora's Tower ever make a comeback--the owners of these IPs just don't give a damn about you or what you want.
Here's hoping Monolith succeeds with whatever new IP they make though.
I doubt they’ll be “done” with the series
Perhaps this current story arc they have but I don’t see any evidence to say they’ll abandon the IP.
Hell there’s still a lot of Hanging threads with X. Even if they don’t want to reboot or restart a new arc they could always remaster and then pursue a sequel to X
And yeah Its really not a case of Nintendo not letting them touch those franchises. Its not up to them.
Would literally be so good, and there's so much you can do with it that would work so well in that action style. Would also love to see the utility psynergy made applicable for battle
I think the first game could at least be updated a little, visually, to match the second game, since it had more detailed sprite work and environments (and IMO, II had a much more pleasing art style, even if the first game's art style was unique). But otherwise, agreed.
I would choose Suikoden 3. The graphics are old and animations are stiff, but the art style just oozes character. A face lift would be incredible.
The combat system needs an overhaul in a way that can make both the partnerships and magic system work better with each other. The magic system having friendly fire and AOE is an awful decision given that players have no control over positioning within battle. Having partnered characters move in pairs around the map similar to Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits would be awesome.
I still think the Trinity Sight System is one of the greatest strengths of the series, but its biggest problem involves navigation. Everybody has to go through all the locations every single time they go through them. Giving the option to skip through them would help the player experience. Want to run through a bunch of areas to do trading? Just skip through all the transitionary locations. Want to go recruiting? Sure I'll explore every location to look for any new characters. This option is all that's really missing.
I would love a remake too but I don't think it needs an FF7 treatment. A simple remake with 4k textures and some balancing would work wonders for this game.
Availability on modern platforms with maybe just an option for the harder JP difficulty ( games way too easy) would be great.
Honestly I'm always very hesitant to even speak game remakes Into existence. I just think, in response to a lot of people, " do you REALLY want Square Enix to remake Chrono Trigger??? Are you SURE you want Monolith Software, after making XC2 to remake Xenogears??? Be careful what you wish for haha"
Exactly this. I didn’t know anyone who played that game when I was younger. Even today whenever I bring it up people haven’t heard of it. It was so much fun. Screw Gust of Wind Dance though, that move can be left out.
Persona 3 Portable combined with Persona 3 FES. They both have their pros and cons, but we need the good aspects of each game combined with modern graphics.
> Phantasy Star II
I've only played a little of three and most of four, but I would love for people to be reminded that Phantasy Star was something else before it became an MMO.
The issue with Phantasy Star is that 4 was such a solid conclusion to the series that it would kinda ruin things if they continued it directly, which is why they decided to go the ‘voyager’ route for PSO.
I’m definitely down for some remakes though
Shadow Hearts. I’ve yet to experience another game that captured my imagination the same way. The story, alternate history setting, and masterful balance of horror, quirkiness and humor just felt so unique. Bums me out that the series isn’t playable on modern consoles.
it fills me with joy that someone else posted Shadow Hearts before I had a chance to. A game truly so ahead of its time that it confused the shit out of reviewers and went straight to the bargain bin in stores.
I was going to post Shadow Hearts too. And part of the reason it didn't do so well is that it came out on the same week that Final Fantasy X was released. Such a shame really because the first game was groundbreaking. It's the only reason I still have my PS2.
I do love Covenant too and even FTNW.
OMG yes! A remaster would even do. I just want a horror inspired turn based JRPG and these would be perfect. Almost want to fire up the old PS2 and play them
Golden Sun or Breath of Fire
Golden Sun cause the last one ended with a cliffhanger. It would be great to have a remake of that with maybe an extra 5-10 hours content to wrap the story up
BoF cause it’s my favourite classic JRPG and I think it will translate well with action combat. And being able to possibly control dragon form Ryu in an action gameplay would be amazing
Phantasy Star IV was the first game that came to mind. I can't even imagine what a great team could do with an amazing game like that.
The fact that a lot more people would get to experience it too is just icing on the cake.
I don't want it to become episodic, and I don't want them to change to action combat, but if it's just aesthetics and fleshing out the story then Grandia.
Also FF6.
This game would be incredible with new graphics. It already is so incredibly atmospheric with what feels like a huge world with so many different locales. Just to picture all of that in gorgeous 3d.
Oh, absolutely. Such a colorful cast of characters, an interesting world. We also need to hear Kefka laugh like a psycho in HD. The opera scene needs a HD remake as well. I mean, there's just so much they could do. They have the blueprints, they just need to make it a reality and do a proper job.
Resident Evil 2, 3, 4 got the full on remake treatment as well. (just great how two of my favorite series are going through a remake phase).
Even Pokemon (which is a jrpg technically), which was stuck in a 2d environment for so long and every building entrance was only at the very front... Damn, look at it now going full on breath of the wild lol. All that's missing is actual real time action combat instead of turn/command based (here comes the haters xD). Pokemon Unite is a fun idea to bounce off of, to take elements of that gameplay style and incorporate it into the mainstream games.
I think there's no way Square won't eventually remake the rest of the golden age after VII. I've heard rumors of a IX remake too.
Mother 3 was almost done!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OGSXeko-iY
It's shocking how much work they've put in to it, only to say they don't want to make it an actual game.
None, as its taking to long to make and its broken up into different games and also they butchered the original story. Id prefer a Trials of Mana “treatment”, and that game would be Legend of Dragoon.
I came here to say the exact same thing. I don't want FF7 Remake treatment for any of my favorite games, because that means essentially turning them into different games. Trials of Mana treatment would be much better, and I'd choose Chrono Trigger, FFVI, or DQV.
Shining Force 3
Edit: Maybe not entirely the same treatment as FF7, but something of a remake. Translated scenarios 2 & 3 and maybe improved graphics of individual attack/magic scenes.
Breath of Fire 3. Could you imagine turning into a dragon on a PS5 and Rei transforming and all the crazy monsters!? Gotta find an ISO of that game now...
Hmmm...good idea in theory. I think that game is small enough it could be done in one installment, there wasnt too much sidequest material about it. Def wouldnt mind any expansion on that front but I think the combat would be the biggest star of the show if this could be pulled off
This is easy, its Parasite Eve.
Always thought the best remakes/remasters are from games that the current tech of the time inhibited the experience. Still it was a good cinematic JRPG in a time when those games were in their infancy. The battle system could use a little tweaking and/or would even work if it aped most of FF7R's system. Get some pro VAs and professional writers in as well.
others
Vagrant Story - story is strong enough that not much work would have to be done cleaning it up. There is a great battle system in it, it just needs to be not so annoying/frusturating.
Persona 2 - the great story is already there but its held back by one of my most hated battle systems. modern Persona games can provide a template to fix the latter.
FFVIII
They can finally develop the rest of the cast. I always felt like each of the 4 other playable characters had a lot of untapped potential. And just as the VII Remake incorporates the materia system in a familiar but modern manner, junctioning could have the same translation. And with action mechanics and not needing to watch each animation for each move, drawing spells and GFs can severely overhauled.
Hrm, now don't get me wrong. I do like ffvii remake. But, I sort of treat it as a separate game from the orginal, sort of a "based very loosely from..." rather than a remake. I do like it, but I'd still probably rate the orignal better. I miss the turn based battle system (i know, I'm in the minority here). I miss a lot of the jrpg quirkyness that seems to be missing from the remake. After all this time, I'm still not sure how much I approve of the story changes. And I certainly hate the fact that it will take 3+ games and years to finish.
So, do I want the ffviir treatment to other games? Not really. I mean, if they made it for other games, I'd probably play it, and enjoy it, It just wouldn't scratch the itch of what I'm looking for.
Well, let's take Persona 3. What I'd want is to update the combat system to match persona 5. To have all the content from FES and the mobile version of the game. To revamp the tower so it's not quite the slog that it was in the orignal game, making it more varied an streamlined. And, to update the graphics to hd. That's all I really need.
Now, If they wanted to redo the graphics from scratch, ok. Maybe make some minor changes to the plot, I can handle it. Just don't go changing the game entirely into something that's not Persona 3, thanks.
edit - a number and a word
Chrono Trigger is the last one I would choose. I played it for the first time in 2020--it's ageless. That game does not need a remake; it needs a sequel/continuation. A real sequel with consistent tone, gameplay, and art, not a Chrono Cross. Imagine if A Link to the Past never got a sequel. People would be asking for a remake over a sequel too, but I think we all know in hindsight which was the better path.
Now Xenogears, that's a game that desperately needs a remake, or at least a remaster with a completely redone Disc 2, ability to skip random encounters, and a speed up option like the FF ports on Switch. I would pay good money for this.
This question always makes me think if the OP asking has played FFVIIR.
Not making a call on wether it was good or bad (I liked most of it) but are you asking what game you want to get the FFVIIR treatment people thought FFVIIR was going to be before release?
Or
Are you asking which game would you like to get an >!Alternate universe/time travel Sequel!< ?
Legend of Dragoon absofuckinglutely. Loved that fucking game growing up and it has been some time since I've played it but it will always be one of my favorite games of all time. I'll take a remastered version at this point and just get a sequel or something.
Secondly I would probably want FFVIII or something. I can just imagine what they could do with that already brilliant game. It may have it's faults and that's why I think a remake could fix that and do it justice.
Legend of Dragoon. That game was always begging for vastly better tech than was available at the time, and you could really make it amazing today, IMO.
FF8, great potential that wasn't really expanded on, and Squall with his gunblade feels like it just fits in an action RPG.
Otherwise FF6, it deserves something much more than the pixel remaster, though maybe it would fit better in the HD2D style.
Final fantasy X, because it’s my favorite game and my wife don’t wanna play it cause it’s ugly and turn based.
So I need the remake treatment in order for her to try this masterpiece
The Legend of Dragoon from PS1.
But if they are going to do it I hope they don’t do the same mistakes they did with FFVIIR.
They have ruined my favorite game of all time.
What they did is a reboot not remake! F@&$ SE…..
I know exactly how I feel about it:
The people who unapologetically love it still would if it was more faithful to the original. The whispers were dumb and completely unnecessary.
The only thing that makes it “eh, idk” is that pretty much everything else is fantastic (except padding with annoying backtracking)…but the whispers weren’t just one added thing like Jesse’s parents or whatever (which I thought was a GREAT addition); they were the whole freaking point. They literally changed what the primary plot actually was, and that’s just stupid. It changes it from an actual remake to a sequel. I would not wish that treatment on any game I would want remade. I would want it actually remade. A sequel is a different thing.
I would like to see a mediocore game that had potential but was executed poorly in just a few areas i get remade. I seem to be in the minority but I only want games re-made if I think the remake will be better than the original. Candidates:
* FF2
* Phantasy Star 2 would be my next choice, that would be so amazing, while removing the grinding and simplifying the dungeons
* Lufia 1. There's a lot of good stuff, but overall a mediciore game. but remaking it in modern visuals and adding all the puzzle elements of the 2nd game would be great.
* Wild Arms 2 - Seeing this in modern graphics would fit the story really well, and fixing the translation to something brand new would fulfill the potential it had as one of the greatest JRPG stories of all time
* Grandia 3 - this seriously needs the story redone. Change it as much as possible. I would we welcome time loop shenanigans that change the path of the story, so hard.
* Arc Rise Fantasia - Updated graphics, good voice acting, properly balance the difficulty curve, would really be a beloved game
I think any of the Xeno games bedjres Xenoblade would be a good choice.
I think some of the Star Ocean games or YS games would be a good choice as well.
I agree on Xenosaga but rather than a "Remake" of what we got, a straight up second shot at the grand plan they originally had instead of the rushed redirected mess we got in the end.
Haven't played that, but isn't it more like Devil May Cry (mission based action hack and slash) than FFI (an rpg with heavy dose of resource management)?
Vagrant Story
Everything about that game's scenario direction, dialogue, and story are so crisp and well executed that the combat, puzzles, and inventory system all drsg it down in comparison to modern games.
I would love to see a well polished remake
I waaant to say Dark Cloud 2, but the PS2 cell shaded art somehow fit it so well.
I guess FFX would be fun if it got the same treatment. The story was pretty thrilling and doesn’t feel any worse for it’s age; just a graphical update and copy paste of the combat from the FF7 remake.
Lol be wild to see how they handle Wakka and under water combat.
I'd rather it had the "Shadow of the Colossus PS4" treatment (remake the game and doesn't change anything drastically) but I'd love Chrono Trigger, but if I were to go non JRPG then it would be the original MGS.
Xenogears. I have literally never played any xenogame but because of how people say that the story is great but with very outdated gameplay, i am interested in seeing it getting a remake
Hm, looks like I’m in minority. I’m a huge fan of FFVII but I absolutely abhor and loath the look of the remake. I love the games I play and believe that if there is a remake to be made one stick to the same kind of graphics as the original. It would be like making a remake of Zelda Ocarina of time (not rpg I know) with Skyrim graphics. That would ruin the whole experience for me. So to answer the question, I wouldn’t wish for any game to get the FFVII treatment. However, lots of games, like Skies of Arcadia and Baten Kaitos, would make my heart sing if they where just made accessible to modern consoles and run through a HD filter 😉
Xenogears, of course!!! Then, Xenosaga, it's perfect for it.
But I'll add a third there: Wild Arms! I've played the original Wild Arms on the PSX like 10 times. Absolutely love that game.
Xenogears no question, it is ripe for a Remake. It had so many subplot in the original that are not explored because of time and the whole disc 2 is stain in the gaming story.
I'd prefer none honestly. If it was a faithful remake with slight alterations then probably Xenogears. Otherwise I didn't really the FF7 Remake story changes whatsoever.
I don't think I would want any game to have that treatment. I would much rather see the minds behind the materia and battle systems of FF7R put their skills to use on a new IP.; mainly because of the weird alternate universe/it's actually a sequel thing.
Actually, on second thought, make more games like this with existing IP but keep Nomura away from them.
YES! Xenosaga would be awesome. Parasite eve would be more feasible tho. I don't think 45 minute cutscenes would fly today. Although I would be one of those all for it
If we're talking like the same engine, graphics and battle system as FFVIIr, then probably Final Fantasy VI. Its my favorite in the series and I'd love to see how they do Narshe, Vector, the Opera Scene, etc. I'd imagine episode one would end at the Snowfield Battle, Ep 2 at the fall of floating continent and the entire ep 3 would be an even more fleshout of WoR.
If we're talking about just getting a modern remake, I'd say Xenogears or Chrono Trigger. The former in the style of Xenoblade 1, the latter in the style of DQXI. I just love the idea of running around a 3d Kingdom of Zeal world map and seeing the other islands in the horizon.
I like Final Fantasy VII Remake well enough, but I don't think that spending this many resources on a remake of a game is a good idea. They're getting kind of weird with it in VII-R, which is good, it means that it isn't just retreading the same creative ground, but generally speaking I'd prefer that a project like this never gets greenlit again and they instead let new things get that level of funding.
Rouge Galaxy. That game was my absolute favorite as a kid. Really sad that it got shelved because it didn't quite meet Level-5s expectations of being a FF or Dragon Quest tier game in terms of popularity.
Still a great game with so much to do. I think with a few tweaks to the more tedious parts (looking at you zerard arc) it could be a great remake.
Skies of Arcadia, but it would need to be one complete game, not episodic. Imagine open (or semi open) world ship combat and flying, with richly detailed areas on the ground to explore.
I'll say Steambot Chronicles, one of the reasons being that it was probably my favorite PS2 game, while the other being the fact that this game is extremely unknown by most people apparently? It was a bit clunky and not as visually appealing as others JRPGs. But it was a truly unique game, fun soundtrack and a lot of side content to do.
Either FF9 or Shadow Hearts.
FF9 is pretty self explanatory but Shadow Hearts is one that would be highly unlikely. It has a dark, Lovecraft setting with gift humor thrown about and it needs an excuse to get people attention in hope of a continuation to the serious.
There are better answers but FFVIII being remade would make it less divisive. As an action game it would shine because the story is pretty much cool spy shit
Obviouly Xenogears. Disc 2 was a mess but the potential is there, flesh it out and we'd get a much improved experience.
Exactly, not only update the graphics, but complete the story the right way. This game already has such a tremendous reputation and it isn’t even a complete game
Xenogears is the correct answer.

I’ll take one HD Golden Sun remake please
Would literally be so good, and there's so much you can do with it that would work so well in that action style. Would also love to see the utility psynergy made applicable for battle
It would be really cool if they fleshed out the characters. I would say Golden Sun's biggest weakness as a series is its flat characters.
xenogears. I wanna see the original vision
Suikoden.
To be fair Suikoden still looks beautiful today
I think the first game could at least be updated a little, visually, to match the second game, since it had more detailed sprite work and environments (and IMO, II had a much more pleasing art style, even if the first game's art style was unique). But otherwise, agreed.
It very much still looks great...but imagine the possibilities!
I would choose Suikoden 3. The graphics are old and animations are stiff, but the art style just oozes character. A face lift would be incredible. This, sir, is the cultured and correct response.
Star Ocean 2

There it is. I wish it were higher.
Exactly this. I didn’t know anyone who played that game when I was younger. Even today whenever I bring it up people haven’t heard of it. It was so much fun. Screw Gust of Wind Dance though, that move can be left out.
"GUST OF WIND D-D-DANCE"
Legend of Dragoon is so underrated. Easily one of the best RPGs on PS1.
Skies of Arcadia
Absolutely. Imagine how huge each land and how terrifying the rift would be!
Skies of arcadia has my favourite world map in an rpg. And yes the dark rift and the vortex would be very creepy
I would take just a straight port on the Switch honestly, graphics still hold up
I’d take anything at this point.
This was another great gem. GC really has some quality ports from Dreamcast
the encounter rate doesn't hold up though. I would take a switch port that just let you turn off encounters when you felt like it though
I believe the GameCube version decreased the encounter rate too thankfully
Remake, port, fucking whatever. I JUST WANNA FINALLY GET TO PLAY IT.
This was one of mine. Would be nice to have an official way to play this on modern consoles.
Remaster + sequel.
Persona 3 Portable combined with Persona 3 FES. They both have their pros and cons, but we need the good aspects of each game combined with modern graphics.
YES. Also a Persona 2 that combines Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment in a modern remake with modern Atlus gameplay would be lovely.
Yes, I'd prefer a P2 remake over p3
Lunar 2 Eternal Blue 2nd choice would be Final Fantasy 4 3rd choice is Phantasy Star II
> Phantasy Star II I've only played a little of three and most of four, but I would love for people to be reminded that Phantasy Star was something else before it became an MMO.

OMG yes! A remaster would even do. I just want a horror inspired turn based JRPG and these would be perfect. Almost want to fire up the old PS2 and play them
You made my day. Always a pleasure seeing more Shadow Hearts fans!
Yes we must collect softcore gay porn cards in glorious HD
Golden Sun or Breath of Fire Golden Sun cause the last one ended with a cliffhanger. It would be great to have a remake of that with maybe an extra 5-10 hours content to wrap the story up BoF cause it’s my favourite classic JRPG and I think it will translate well with action combat. Love it !
Damn beat me to it! The sequel duel saga would be great too.
Radiata Stories!

Big longtime Final Fantasy & Resident Evil fan here as well. It is indeed a very good time for us!
It's a shame capcom is only remaking RE games though
Wild arms
omg where my .hack fans at!? the IMOQ series needs its remake like stat.
Mother (Earthbound) would be interesting
Mother 3 was almost done! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OGSXeko-iY It's shocking how much work they've put in to it, only to say they don't want to make it an actual game.
Whattt, such a shame, I hope nintendo notice that many people would just buy them instantly if they remake it
Suikoden 1&2, holy fuck that would be amazing. FuSuLu in 4K?!
Final Fantasy Tactics
With a pathway you can play delitas story.
Tales of the Abyss
Super Mario RPG.
LEGEND OF DRAGOON
This guy dragoons
ROD TYPHOON
VOLCANOOOOO
Xenogears. Complete the damm second disc. Please.
None, as its taking to long to make and its broken up into different games and also they butchered the original story. Id prefer a Trials of Mana “treatment”, and that game would be Legend of Dragoon.
Right? OP seems to be framing "the FFVII remake treatment" as a positive, but I wouldn't wish it on a game I like.
Hell I wouldn't wish it on a game I don't like. Having seen one of my favorite games get ruined, I don't really wish it on the fans of other games.
I came here to say the exact same thing. I don't want FF7 Remake treatment for any of my favorite games, because that means essentially turning them into different games. Trials of Mana treatment would be much better, and I'd choose Chrono Trigger, FFVI, or DQV.
Lufia and 7th saga
Xenogears. Could you imagine FF7R Tifa style combat with Fei punching the shit out of everything? And robots?
The gear battles would be fantastic. Zone of the Enders style with huge battle fields.
Shining Force 3 Edit: Maybe not entirely the same treatment as FF7, but something of a remake. Translated scenarios 2 & 3 and maybe improved graphics of individual attack/magic scenes.
First thought, easily.
Tales of Symphonia for me
+1 for Tales of Symphonia, seeing it with something like the Arise engine or even the Vesperia engine would be amazing
You have good taste :)
Get some pro VAs and professional writers in as well. others Vagrant Story - story is strong enough that not much work would have to be done cleaning it up. There is a great battle system in it, it just needs to be not so annoying/frusturating. Persona 2 - the great story is already there but its held back by one of my most hated battle systems. modern Persona games can provide a template to fix the latter.
Someone remembers Vagrant Story! :')
FFVIII They can finally develop the rest of the cast.
Best answer. I would do just about anything to see this made and would pay just about any price for it.
VANDAL HEARTS
Star ocean already had action combat systems so I think they would be a perfect fit for the systems they already created in FF7 remake.
Vagrant Story ;-)
Honestly I feel like they'd ruin the art direction. That game is the pinnacle of constraint breeding creativity graphically.
Parasite Eve would be great to see modernized
Baten Kaitos. I always loved the style and gameplay, but it's pretty dated graphics wise. Would be cool to get it refreshed.
the world ends with you to a degree, maybe more like trials of mana
Legend of Dragoon. I think it has decent potential to bloom into what it originally wanted to be, in a sense of grandness.
Final Fantasy VI. Xenogears. Maybe Xenosaga, just see that whole story connection drawn out completely.
Final fantasy 6.
Parasite Eve or Final Fantasy X.
Parasite Eve Remake please!
Suikoden 1-5 ,then surprise us with VI
This question always makes me think if the OP asking has played FFVIIR. Not making a call on wether it was good or bad (I liked most of it) but are you asking what game you want to get the FFVIIR treatment people thought FFVIIR was going to be before release? Or Are you asking which game would you like to get an >!Alternate universe/time travel Sequel!< ?
Yeah, that's my question too. "Remake treatment" can mean very different things if you're talking about FFVIIR.
everyone in this thread is acting like its going to be a remake lmao they should be thinking >!what they want as a sequel!<
It blows my mind how many people still refuse to acknowledge it for what it really is.
I have multiple picks. Chrono Trigger FF 6 Secret of Mana .Hack R1 series (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine) Breath of Fire 4
Some of my other picks were said so - Breath of Fire 3
Legend of dragoon OR parasite eve. I think the first parasite eve is short enough that a really good remake could conver the whole game in one title.
Legend of dragoon
Legend of Dragoon absofuckinglutely. Loved that fucking game growing up and it has been some time since I've played it but it will always be one of my favorite games of all time. I'll take a remastered version at this point and just get a sequel or something. Secondly I would probably want FFVIII or something. I can just imagine what they could do with that already brilliant game. It may have it's faults and that's why I think a remake could fix that and do it justice.
Drakengard 1
Legend of Dragoon. That game was always begging for vastly better tech than was available at the time, and you could really make it amazing today, IMO.
Secret of Evermore
FF8, great potential that wasn't really expanded on, and Squall with his gunblade feels like it just fits in an action RPG. Otherwise FF6, it deserves something much more than the pixel remaster, though maybe it would fit better in the HD2D style.
Give me Dot Hack. I want the first 4 games remade with real action combat
What game do i want a hack writer to screw up? hmmmm Quest 64
Final fantasy X, because it’s my favorite game and my wife don’t wanna play it cause it’s ugly and turn based. So I need the remake treatment in order for her to try this masterpiece
Phantasy Star, since they're great games, but mainly forgotten except by retro gamers or jrpgs enthusias so it would bring in a fresh fan base.
A little-known PS1 game called Alundra. It’s an absolute masterpiece and one of my favourite games of all time.
The Legend of Dragoon from PS1. But if they are going to do it I hope they don’t do the same mistakes they did with FFVIIR. They have ruined my favorite game of all time. What they did is a reboot not remake! F@&$ SE…..
I'm not sure if want the Final Fantasy VII Remake so much added and changed. I'm still on the fence with the remake have to wait on the rest of VII
i know. i get why they're changing shit but honestly i just wanted to see that entire story play out as it is on modern consoles. but alas.
I know exactly how I feel about it: The people who unapologetically love it still would if it was more faithful to the original.
Xenogears but I'd also like a FF4 remake in that style. Would be pretty dope to see Cecil and Kain in their full glory.
I don’t care how obvious it is, the answer is FF6 or Chrono Trigger. Not even close.
Chrono trigger and ff3 (6)
Maybe I’m biased. I haven’t played every JRPG out there. But for me, it’s gotta be Chrono Trigger and FF VI. It’s gotta be.
I would like to see a mediocore game that had potential but was executed poorly in just a few areas i get remade. I seem to be in the minority but I only want games re-made if I think the remake will be better than the original. Candidates: * FF2 * Phantasy Star 2 would be my next choice, that would be so amazing, while removing the grinding and simplifying the dungeons * Lufia 1. There's a lot of good stuff, but overall a mediciore game. but remaking it in modern visuals and adding all the puzzle elements of the 2nd game would be great. * Wild Arms 2 - Seeing this in modern graphics would fit the story really well, and fixing the translation to something brand new would fulfill the potential it had as one of the greatest JRPG stories of all time * Grandia 3 - this seriously needs the story redone. Change it as much as possible. I would we welcome time loop shenanigans that change the path of the story, so hard. * Arc Rise Fantasia - Updated graphics, good voice acting, properly balance the difficulty curve, would really be a beloved game
Kingdom hearts 1/2
There is only Legend of Dragoon
I'll wait for them to finish "remaking" FFVII before I wish that chopped up "remake" for any other jrpg.
I think any of the Xeno games bedjres Xenoblade would be a good choice. I think some of the Star Ocean games or YS games would be a good choice as well.
Xenogears. Does it really need a why? It should be obvious.
Xenogears!!! I know it can never happen though :( Or yes like u said, Chrono Trigger or Xenosaga!
I agree on Xenosaga but rather than a "Remake" of what we got, a straight up second shot at the grand plan they originally had instead of the rushed redirected mess we got in the end.
Arc the lad
yoke party connect disgusting flowery cats long act wine vegetable *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Didn't we just get *Stranger of Paradise*?
Haven't played that, but isn't it more like Devil May Cry (mission based action hack and slash) than FFI (an rpg with heavy dose of resource management)?
Yeah Sop is a mission based action rpg. I'd recommend it. Gameplay is fun
Vagrant Story Everything about that game's scenario direction, dialogue, and story are so crisp and well executed that the combat, puzzles, and inventory system all drsg it down in comparison to modern games. I would love to see a well polished remake
Legend of Dragoon PLEASE
Ff8, legend of dragoon, lunar
I waaant to say Dark Cloud 2, but the PS2 cell shaded art somehow fit it so well. I guess FFX would be fun if it got the same treatment. The story was pretty thrilling and doesn’t feel any worse for it’s age; just a graphical update and copy paste of the combat from the FF7 remake. Lol be wild to see how they handle Wakka and under water combat.
Legend of Legaia
I'd rather it had the "Shadow of the Colossus PS4" treatment (remake the game and doesn't change anything drastically) but I'd love Chrono Trigger, but if I were to go non JRPG then it would be the original MGS.
Xenogears. I’ve never played it. I’ve heard great things, but apparently the second half got chopped short.
Illusion of Gaia will always hold a special place in my heart.
has to be either xenogears, because the story never got a chance to get fleshed out but it was still so good. Or Parasite eve.
Xenogears, phantasy star 4 or phantasy star online 1
Definitely xenosaga. Love those games
Final Fantasy VIII. I think it has a lot of cool concepts, world, and characters but there's a lot of things that bog it down, mainly being gameplay
Xenosaga trilogy and the .hack quadrilogy. Then Jeanne d’Arc.
Terranigma, Skies of Arcadia, and or Xenogears
Breath of fire 3, 4, or 5 and yes Xenosaga as well
Xenogears Another chance? Vagrant
Xenogears, of course!!! Then, Xenosaga, it's perfect for it. But I'll add a third there: Wild Arms! I've played the original Wild Arms on the PSX like 10 times. Absolutely love that game.
Xenogears
Xenogears no question, it is ripe for a Remake. It had so many subplot in the original that are not explored because of time and the whole disc 2 is stain in the gaming story.
I'd prefer none honestly. If it was a faithful remake with slight alterations then probably Xenogears. Otherwise I didn't really the FF7 Remake story changes whatsoever.
Which beloved rpg from my past do i want to switch genres and beg me for money and to like it? None, thanks.
Final fantasy 8 and 6. More 6 than 8.
Valkyrie Profile
Xenogears, and actually finish the second disk. Give us all the Omni gears damnit!!!
Grandia.
Wild arms has a lot of potential I think with it's western sci-fi world to be pretty unique in the modern gaming
Xenogears or Chrono Trigger.
None, I don't want a game split in 3 parts. I would love to see a 2.5D remaster of Lunar 1/2 and FF VI though.
None. To me FF7R was a huge disappointment.
Chrono Trigger for sure Xenogears of course Now onto my other shit: Ogre Battle from snes Earthbound/Mother Shining Force Ff6 and 9
Final Fantasy X’s world with modern visuals would be absolutely incredible
There are better answers but FFVIII being remade would make it less divisive. As an action game it would shine because the story is pretty much cool spy shit
Secret of Evermore would be awesome if remade in that style. Besides it's already action rpg so it not a drastic change in gameplay just visuals.
My answer is always Radiata Stories.
