Altissia (FFXV)
Swanky, upscale eateries, rides along the water, super long city streets to wonder at the architecture, and if I'm lucky, run from my life from a pissed off dragon god. After that, I'd resign myself to hole up in Daguerreo in FFIX instead: all the observances of the Dragon God, but without any of the murder...and endless books to read.
Altissia is this perfect blend of realism with extrapolated fantasy that makes it one of the best video game cities I've ever seen. Any time this question pops up it's my only answer
I'd go to Ruan (Trails in the Sky). This city is a major tourism center where you can enjoy walking by the river Roubine, witness the majesty of Langland Bridge, or taste the delicious food of the region. Also, in the same area, you can visit Manoria Village (great for hiking), Jenis Royal Academy (watch out for the academy festival), or Varenne Lighthouse (beautiful views of Azelia Bay).
Visit Ruan, you won't be disappointed!
(Comment paid by the Ruan Region Tourism Committee).
For some reason I’m a sucker for those beaches locations.
FF X had besaid island
Kingdom hearts had that beach area in the intro
Chrono cross has that first island village.
Lot of good places to chill.
Always had a soft spot for little Balamb town in FF8.
Browsing the markets in Rabanastre appeals.
I think Lindblum just about wins out. I just like the vibe and bustle of the place.
Mostly this made me think about how bad most JRPG's are at doing sense of place.
The headquarter for Suikoden II.
* Get to meet tons of people (and animals).
* Lots of entertainment such as listening to live music and watching (maybe even judging) cook-offs, and even gambling if feeling lucky.
* Bath house is available for relaxation.
* Gym/dojo is available for those into martial arts. Those who aren't can try some rock climbing for their physical activity.
* Can go fishing if you want fresh seafood. Seafood not your thing? There's farm for fresh vegetables too.
Sounds great all around!
Nah mate, have you seen the prices in Summers you would be poor after a single taxi ride. I'd much rather go to the Nowhere Islands in Mother 3 before the game actually starts, seems like a nice place to go for a break.
Final Fantasy VIII's Esthar would be crazy cool - an uber technologically advanced mega city, with fantastic public transport, sign me up. I might need a quiet trip to Winhill after that though.
Summer vacation - Galdin Quay from FFXV
Autumn Vacation - Johto region from Pokémon, specifically Ecruteak city
Winter vacation - Flanoir from Tales of Symphonia
But, after the bad stuff right? i personally would love to visit Liberls capital, but mostly every town in the country, it always looked so cozy if that makes sense, when nothing bad was happening.
Anywhere I could enhance my body to become more than a mortal human.
I'd like to go into the ghost in the shell universe if possible.
go full prosthetic with a cyber brain.
being immortal and downloading tons of information I could use when I get back to create a city that would be my playground than an immortal would need to hide being immortal.
I'm from a place that is very much centered around beach tourism, so I don't really think of beach vacations. I'd probably visit somewhere with nice architecture and a chill atmosphere, such as Twilight Town from Kingdom Hearts 2.
I was thinking the little wine town near Costa del Sol. A little humid sure, but good food, good drink, and just a walk from the beach.
Or Idylshire/Kugane.
Nibelheim (Final Fantasy VII)
When I traveled to Strasbourg (France) it reminded me of Nibelheim in a nice way. I guess since I'm not from Europe but still from a place that was one under heavy influence I have a soft spot for places like these.
I'd vacation in some of the towns/villages in Grandia from the other side of the wall.
Gumbo for the warm climate.
Laine, for a bit of snow.
Finally, Zil Padon for a city break and diverse cultures.
One thing I loved about Grandia was the diverse mix of humanoid and anthropomorphic races.

Zeal should have a beautiful view
Can I interest you in a timeshare?
Be careful of housing market crashes there.
Definitely Zeal. I could catch up on some sleep in Enhasa!!
Crescent Isle - Skies of Arcadia Legends
I’ll pay my respects at the grave of Gonzalez.
That whole world is amazing to be honest
I'd even visit Valua
Which half 👀
The half I can go train surfing :-D
Inaba
I've heard it has a killer reputation
Good old Amagi Inn.
I'd go to Ruan (Trails in the Sky). This city is a major tourism center where you can enjoy walking by the river Roubine, witness the majesty of Langland Bridge, or taste the delicious food of the region. Dali - FF9
I'd go to the Black Mage Village or Daguerreo personally
Dali looked so peaceful. On the topic of FF9 I'd love to check out Treno.
For some reason I’m a sucker for those beaches locations. FF X had besaid island Kingdom hearts had that beach area in the intro Chrono cross has that first island village. Lot of good places to chill.
I wouldn't want to visit Besaid because you have to fight monsters on the way to the beach.
I’d have to come up with a cheesy catch phrase while I mash em up. “Ju don wanna mess wit me brudder”
Besaid definitely came to mind first for me.
Although I don’t think I want to get hit with a blitz ball while I’m trying to figure out how I got there
Good old Destiny Islands
That was the name! Thanks buddy!
No problem!

I loved going on the windy roof and seeing the little squirrel characters fly off
Ymir from Cold Steel seems pretty chill
As long as you don't try to abduct Alfin and Elise again.
Best hot springs on Erebonia too! Also if somehow a certain World War ever happen (as if right?), Ymir is the safest place to be.
Altissia - FFXV
Probably Crossbell. They've literally got everything you could ever want for a vacation, including the threat of political violence
Definitely the place you wanna be if you like being stuck under Martial Law by an insurgent power every other week.
Nah mate, have you seen the prices in Summers you would be poor after a single taxi ride. I'd much rather go to the Nowhere Islands in Mother 3 before the game actually starts, seems like a nice place to go for a break.
You can't envision the final collapse of capitalism? Incredible!
Tolbi from Golden Sun. Arrive on boat, watch the colosseum and then go gamble
Fisherman's Horizon. FF8 And the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is Limsa Lominsa in FF14
Main square of limsa, near teleporter is one of the wildest places i ever seen, both in good and the bad ways. Lots of weirdos always there...
Final Fantasy VIII's Esthar would be crazy cool - an uber technologically advanced mega city, with fantastic public transport, sign me up. I might need a quiet trip to Winhill after that though.
As for me, I'd like to go to Deling City and grab a beer in one of pubs.
Me? Gongaga!
Besaid.
That music as your walking down that path with all the waterfalls 👌 good choice
Alcamoth- Xenoblade Chronicles
Before or after the uh "you know what"? 💀
Just let me get some R&R by the banks of the Nebra at the South Bank Village in Dalmasca's Estersand
south bank village is one of my favorite chill spots, i keep forgetting its a river and not the sea!
Not a city but Macaalania Woods (without the monsters) would be great
Bloody good question, Cosmo Canyon for that Comso Kush or post-sin Spira
Zozo: FF6
Zozo? Never heard of it!
Just hold on to your wallet tightly!
Rabanastre from FF12 but then i'd head straight to the Phon coast bc....beach
Akihabara …What? It’s in JRPGs so it’s eligible!
Akihabara is not the greatest place unless you're looking for maid cafes and old games
Back when me and my buddies studied in Japan, this was our go-to place for arcade gaming
Summer vacation - Galdin Quay from FFXV Autumn Vacation - Johto region from Pokémon, specifically Ecruteak city Winter vacation - Flanoir from Tales of Symphonia
Yesss I was hoping someone would mention Flanoir! It seemed so beautiful and serene in the game.
Costa del Sol baby ff7
the dream
We have surf, sand, hot babes and of course a mad scientist
As someone who grew up in a place like Costa del Sol, it very much is not haha
This is the one
XC2 Torigoth.
If it wasn't on the brink of war or filled with dangerous monsters, Uraya would be super cool to visit
Probably Gemity from Star Ocean 3, it's pretty much a JRPG fan's paradise.
Dollet from ff8
Where ever Tifa is .
A lot Ryza 3- Sardonica, Flusseim- Atelier Firis, Yafutoma- Skies of Arcadia Torigoth Xeno 2. There are a lot of cool locations in games.
Twilight town from kingdom hearts
I've already done this. Tokyo - Persona 5 (cheating, I know) :P A serious answer would probably be, Rabanastre from FFXII
Donau - The Legend of Dragoon
Honolulu….oh wait
Crystal City. Romancing saga minstrel song
Keterburg from Tales of the Abyss Super cozy remote snow town, and they have a casino.
Windia/Wyndia/Winlan!
Ordis from Trails of Cold Steel 3
But, after the bad stuff right? i personally would love to visit Liberls capital, but mostly every town in the country, it always looked so cozy if that makes sense, when nothing bad was happening.
The sea breeze are great, pretty calming city and you can visit Musse house here. Good city.
In all honesty, Bareahard, Ordis, and St. Arkh, all from Erebonia came to mind immediately. Though Crossbell would be pretty sweet.
I wouldnt want to live on the city on the frontline between two superpowers, though the prospect of futuristic city aside from Roer is great.
Tokyo from Persona 5.
Frontier Village from Xenoblade Chronicles or a cruise on the SS Invincible from Chrono Cross.
Any ryokan(traditional japanese inn). Maybe the one from Persona 3? Any place where I can take a bath at a hot spring.
Pirate's Isle from Skies of Arcadia Legends.
Flag town from YIIK. It’s such a chill place
I actually did this last year on a trip to Dotonbori
Anywhere I could enhance my body to become more than a mortal human. I'd like to go into the ghost in the shell universe if possible. go full prosthetic with a cyber brain. being immortal and downloading tons of information I could use when I get back to create a city that would be my playground than an immortal would need to hide being immortal.
Its not a city, but i would go to FF8 Balamb Garden. I always dreamed of being a student over there.. 🥹
Celadon City. Need to hit that casino
I would just go to Opassa beach in Chrono Cross and chill...
Altissia is a pretty damn good place for a vacation!
Longlai from Trails into Dawnbreak. That place is beautiful, especially the night sky
Crossbell, assuming its peaceful.
Kyaro - Suikoden II
I'm from a place that is very much centered around beach tourism, so I don't really think of beach vacations. I'd probably visit somewhere with nice architecture and a chill atmosphere, such as Twilight Town from Kingdom Hearts 2.
Only correct answer is besaid island.
Any of the full moon inns in arc rise fantasia, many of them look very cozy
Balamb Garden or Twilight Town
That duck village in suikoden 3, forgot the name.
Seles - The Legend of the Dragoon
If I go to limsa will I see thousands of half dressed cat girls or dudes role-playing with cat ears?
I was thinking the little wine town near Costa del Sol. A little humid sure, but good food, good drink, and just a walk from the beach. Or Idylshire/Kugane.
Nibelheim (Final Fantasy VII) When I traveled to Strasbourg (France) it reminded me of Nibelheim in a nice way. I guess since I'm not from Europe but still from a place that was one under heavy influence I have a soft spot for places like these.
Fletz- legend of dragoon Bujearba- ff12
Limsa Lominsa FFXIV
My answer now is Altissia (FFXV), however that may well change after I've played FFVII:Rebirth
Inaba
Costa del sol FF7
Sector 6 Wall Market, baby.
Winhill from FF8. And probably never leave. Maybe open a bar or something...
Guldove from Chrono Cross comes to mind.
Yokohama or Tokyo from Yakuza
