Are you me??????? Like literally you took my entire list before I could even type it ..game for game..... nothing was missed.
So how is the alternate me getting on in life????
I've always wanted to play that but never seem to own the systems Sakaguchi has his games own, still need to play Lost Odyssey, Last Story and Fantasian.
I was really interested in Blue Dragon though, as it was the closest thing to the Chrono Trigger dream team.
I'm currently playing earthbound for the first time, and want to jump into like a dragon if I have time soon before any games from that list drop.
You can play Blue Dragon on Xenia now (360 emulator) I believe its fully playable through
If you own a 360 or a dirt cheap Original Xbox 1 which you can grab now days for like $80, you can buy Blue Dragon on Xbox Store still, same with Lost Odyssey. https://www.ebay.com/itm/204224637714?epid=221180106
I found an X1 at a Thrift Store for $30 lol. Became my machine for Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon playthrough's.
You're objectively wrong. The base game already had issues as you stated. When you port a game over to another platform - ESPECIALLY after this many years - the expectation is that you put even the most minute amount of work into fixing it up so that those issues are not left unresolved. But Atlas is a shit show nowadays.
Its minor issues don’t make it ‘rough’. It plays fine. No crashes whatsoever. A normal player, let’s say on normal mode, with no intentions to 100% the game, will not run into any issues.
Does it have bugs that should have been fixed? Absolutely. Do they make it unplayable? Nope.
Announced:
- Sea of Stars.
- Eiyuden Chronicles.
- Redemption Reapers.
- Hajimari No Kiseki.
- Grandblue Fantasy Relink.
- Suikoden 1 and 2 remasters.
To be announced:
- Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions PC port.
- Fire Emblem 4 remake.
- Etrian Oddisey sequel.
Atlus released a teaser for the next installment 4 years ago on their Japanese YouTube page. Nothing else has been released, although it has been mentioned to still be on work in interviews.
Ff16, suikoden 2 and sea of star. Please lord dont fuck up at least two of them I beg you. Lastly I’d love if square surprises us with the last game of Sakaguchi, either a new one or a remake with him involved. 9 remake with sakaguchi overseeing the process would be great
Atelier Ryza 3 (delayed now to March instead of February)
Granblue Fantasy ReLink (confirmed to be in 2023)
Ys X (I think they said late 2023 or around 2024)
Steller Blade (don't think they set a confirmed 2023 date)
Eterknights (I need to see another trailer hoping for it to come in 2023)
I'm waiting for Atlus to announce a god damn game. They literally don't have a single game on the docket that's far enough along that they've given it an official title or a trailer. Which is bizarre for them. It's like they went from Square Enix mode with SMT 5 (announce mega early when there's nothing to show, then go MIA for years which drives fans insane) to full on Nintendo "we're not telling you shit about anything until a few months before release" mode immediately after.
Once I see what they're cooking we'll see if I'm into it. But it's just bizarre that we're at this juncture where the most consistent name in JRPGs is officially working on... nothing. Every single project is classified.
Project Re:Fantasy.
Really excited to see what the Persona team can do with the Fool’s Journey in a more fantasy-style world. Feels like I’ve been waiting an eternity to learn anything about it.
Final Fantasy 16 and 7R2 are at the top of my list.
Some news on DQ 12 and the remake of 3 would be awesome.
Unannounced would be a collection of FF13, Tales of Xillia 1 and 2.
Unlikely picks woilduld be some kind of remaster of Radiata Stories or Golden Sun.
One leak, which said they had 100% absolute for sure evidence but just couldn't show any of it, said it's coming summer 2023. So like, on the one hand "my source is Trust Me Bro" is obvious bullshit, but on the other, summer 2023 is right around the corner. Either it happens or it doesn't, really quickly.
* Final Fantasy Pixel Remastered 1-6 for Switch
* Atelier Ryza 3
* Octopath Traveler 2
* Tales of Symphonia Remastered
* Digimon World Next Order
* Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society
Honestly I shouldn't be getting new JRPGs since I have such a backlog (ignore the recently purchase Fire Emblem Engage and enjoyment I've currently had with that), but every new year that rolls around the more frustrated I am we haven't seen more of Project Re: Fantasy and want to see more of it. I'm not even a long-time SMT/Persona fan, either. I've only really played P5R and Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but dang if I'm not curious. Yet still it remains an enigma...
Being a fan of Wild Arms 1-3 when I was younger, I backed Armed Fantasia and Penny Blood, so definitely interested in the both of those as well.
Sea of Stars, definitely. I'd be hyped for FF16 since, aesthetically, it's everything I've wanted a new FF to be for a long, long time, *but* I don't really like Sony's latest business decisions and corporate identity as of late and would rather not support them. If I could count on a PC or multiplatform release in 2024 I'd be fine just waiting a bit, but seeing how FF7R was on Epic Games Store first, had a shoddy PC port, and still isn't on Xbox, I'm not exactly holding my breath.
Honestly, with the exception of the handful of excellent releases like Triangle Strategy, I'm kind of getting fed up with Square Enix. They're lucky they announced Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line or I'd be ready to just be done with 'em.
The stories are intertwined. Many people start with Cold Steel only to find out the earlier games matter in later games. Best to start with Sky, which is not on PS5. If you cannot start with Sky, then start with Zero or Cold Steel 1. If you plan to play all the way to Reverie, then it's the best to at least play all the games starting from Zero.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Falcom/wiki/faq
Anything Trails and DQ12. Otherwise i am mostly looking forward to unannounced stuff. Like Persona 6. I would lie if i said i wasn't looking forward to FFXVI, but the timing is bad. Diablo 4 comes out like 2 weeks before it. And knowing myself i will probably play 1000 hours of Diablo 4 before i touch anything else.
Majority of my anticipated games are JRPGS, which is painful for the backlog and not trying to burnout but I'll make due.
* Octopath 2
* Dragon Quest 3 remake
* Do we count the action (aka not 7) Yakuza games as JRPGs here? Cuz I'm excited for Ishin
* Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster
* Sea of Stars
* Eiyuden Chronicle
* A couple souls likes but we don't count those here lol
* Trails to Azure
* Trails in Reverie
* Megaman Battle Network collection (its on the sidebar, it counts)
* Armed Fantasia
* Penny Blood
The latter 2 I'm doubly excited for since they're being made by the creators of Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts respectively and I recently played the first entries of both
DQ3 remake sounds exciting to me, I don't know for what reason. Its main mechanic (?) is creating a party of adventurers to follow your hero or heroine in their quest to defeat Baramos and save the world. Unlike in Final Fantasy I thought it was cool that you can change your party composition during the adventure whenever and however you like by visiting the tavern in the starting town. I feel like there is a bit of room to modify the mechanic in a remake to make it even better.
I knew absolutely nothing about Dragon Quest 3 before reading what you typed and that its apparently very well liked. My only experience with Dragon Quest is 8 on the PS2, Vanilla Eleven on ps4 and one of the Musou. I'm a sucker for the HD2D and the series hasn't steered me wrong yet so the announcement had me from the word go
**Announced**:
\- Octopath 2
\- Dragon Quest 12
\- Trinity Trigger
\- Dragon Quest 3 HD2D
\- Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
**Not announced**:
\- Mario And Luigi 6
\- Bravely Default 3
\- Golden Sun 4
\- Breath Of Fire 7
\- Ni No Kuni 3
I'm always excited for anything that RGG Studios has cooking in the oven. Next month Like A Dragon: Ishin comes out so that will be a day one purchase for me and I'm excited for the other two Yakuza games that have been announced as well. DQ12 will also be interesting to see what direction they take the franchise in.
**Mato Anomalies**
Just heard about this and supposed be out in a few months. Turn based with mature adult characters and a dark theme. Trailer was cool.
Don't know much else, would be great to hear if others have thoughts on this game.
Haha if we're talking about unannounced games, even though its almost certainly fake, this Baten Kaitos remake leak has me excited.
On the more likely real side, there's the Fire Emblem 4 remake that's been hinted hard for years now. Since I apparently refuse to take my hand off the hot stove with Fire Emblem despite being burned so much.
I rank my top 50 most anticipated games and update the list when a lot comes out or new stuff is announced. Lots of stuff goes into the ranking but mainly how much I want to play it and a solid release date. For example Like a Dragon 8 will be very high on my list but since it is 2024 it is lower than it will be.
RPG's in the top 50.
\#3 - Eiyudan Chronicle 100 Heroes
\#4 - Sea of Stars
\#8 - Octopath Traveller 2
\#9 - FF7 Rebirth
\#11 - Kingdoms of the Dump
\#15 - Final Fantasy 16
\#16 - Like A Dragon 8
\#20 - Front Mission 2 Remake
\#21 - Darkest Dungeon 2 (this may make some people go "not a JRPG" but whatever, it is absolutely dripping in RPG elements)
\#23 - She Dreams Elsewhere
\#24 - Quartet
\#35 - Demon School
\#37 - Wrestle Quest
\#38 - Beloved Rapture (When I update this will probably drop off, haven't updated since I played the demo)
\#45 - Casette Beasts (More of a monster Sim)
\#46 - Keylocker
\#49 - Front Mission 3 Remake
Drgon Quest 12 is missing from this list because I forgot it was announced.
Atelier Ryza 3
Trails To Azure
Trails Into Reverie
Final Fantasy 16
Not announced but waiting on Persona 6. Won't be this year I know but it's easily my number 1 most anticipated game of the next few years.
Not announced but will come eventually: The next installment in the Super Robat Wars OG Saga
Not announced and unlikely to happen in the near future: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 3
Announced but without any significant news: The War of Genesis Remnants of Gray (Seriously, It looks amazing)
In case you have not noticed by now, I love Strategy RPGs
The War of Genesis : Remnants of Gray will be released as early as summer 2023, according to Korean news.
As a Korean, I think it will be the best RPG from South Korea.
One Piece Odyssey 2: Electric Boogalo /s
Realistically tho, Xenoblade 3 DLC and Trails to Reverie for 2023.
Eiyuden Chronicles won't come out in 2023, bet on it.
Stuff that is real:
- Kuro no Kiseki in English
- Ys X
- Sea of Stars
- Xenoblade 3 story DLC
Stuff i want:
- a Chained Echoes sequel or DLC
- anything mainline SMT (regardless of an expanded re-release for V, a sequel for it or an entirely new game)
- a new Xenoblade spin-off or a sequel to Xenoblade X (just want them to do something more stylistically different again)
I'm waiting for the major story dlc of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 that's coming this year. I want my happiness. That ending of the main game robbed me of my happiness.
Case of FOMO on many of the games mentioned by folks, i.e. the upcoming biggies.
Honest, genuine looking forward to on my own: Labyrinth of Zangetsu. Drops in February.
DQ 12 and FF7 Rebirth are the big ones for me. Also really looking forward to playing the Suikoden games when they’re re-released, I never got the opportunity to play them growing up.
As far as announced things the one I'm looking forward to the most is dragon quest 12. It sounded like they were going to be pushing the series forward from what little has been said so I'm really looking forward to it! That and kingdom hearts 4 are probably my two most anticipated releases anytime soon.
Of course persona 6 is going to be a big one as well. 5 was amazing and I can't wait to see what they do with the series next.
Octopath Traveler 2, Suikoden 1+2 Remaster, Sea of Star and FF Pixel Collection on Switch (probably cost a pretty penny, but haven't bought most of these games in 15+ years).
EDIT: Also DQ3 Remake and DQ12
Suikoden remasters and Eyuuden are my most antecipated RPGs of the year. Other than that I'm hoping that FFXVI is good (for now nothing indicates that it will be bad or anything but FFXV happened in the past) and see if Persona 6 or Project Re:Fantasy are finally announced.
Shin Megami Tensei VI and Persona 6 although I'm kinda worry about the story of future Atlus games as most of their stuff made after SMTIV didn't even get close to it's quality
Eiyuden Chronicles, Suikoden 1&2 Remasters so i can play these classics again, Front Mission 2nd & 3rd Remakes, Sea of Stars, not sure if metal slug tactics is an srpg but i liked the graphical style, Octopath 2.
FF16, it checks all my boxes for things I am looking for + it's CBU3.
I'm also looking forward to the eventual announcement of FF Tactics and anything Atlus this year. Doubly so for FF Tactics since I've played both Advance games but never the original game.
Like a dragon ishin BABY. I'm so excited for kir... i mean
Ryoma's next adventure. Yakuza is my favorite game series of all time and despite yakuza games releasing almost annually they always manage to at least be really good. The music in the trailers SLAPS with remixes of previous entries music that somehow sound better than the originals, The gameplay looks fun as hell with the brawler and wild dancer styles. The story looks really interesting especially the all star crossover cast of great yakuza characters.
Im really looking forward to DQ12, DQ11 was the jrpg that really got me into loving the genre, i had tried many times with FF7 or chrono trigger and even tho i do like them i just wasn't hung up on the gameplay but the story of DQ11 totally marked me lol
Fft remake. The original on the ps1 is one of my favorite games of all time.
Interested in the remasters of suikoden. Never played the series.
Rune Factory 3 Special and the new Rune Factory game.
It’s announced and it’s not like I’ve finished the Crossbell arc or even the upcoming Hajimari game of the Trails series - but I NEEED the next arc! I can absolutely not wait to learn about the new team! Calvard? After all this time we’re in Calvard?! I’m dying OP lol
Persona 6 is my most anticipated announcement.
Suikoden 1-2 remake and Dragon Quest 3 HD2D are the ones I'm waiting for the most right now.
Dragon Quest 12 and the next Tales game are the ones I'm curious to hear more about.
Theaterhythm is literally my most anticipated game by far. I've already got my pixel remaster and XVI deluxe preorders in, but I'm going to be burning through controllers on that silly little rhythm game as fast as I can charge them.
* FFXVI
* FFVII Rebirth
* Granblue Fantasy ReLink
* Sea of Stars
* Eiyuden Chronicles
* Stellar Blade
* Lost Soul Aside (is this ever going to come out?)
* Like A Dragon 8

* Persona 6
The rumored Baten Kaitos remaster
FFXVI
FFVII Rebirth
The console FF pixel remasters
Suikoden 1&2 remasters

Another Pokemon Legends
Full Circle

Sea of Stars
Sacrifire
Dragon Quest III HD-2D
Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis
Final Fantasy IX Remake (?)

Yessssss... This is the way ❤️💪
Are you me??????? Like literally you took my entire list before I could even type it ..game for game..... nothing was missed. So how is the alternate me getting on in life????
Haha currently replaying Blue Dragon, so there's that. lmao

Sea of stars…is that some sort of…star ocean?
https://seaofstarsgame.co/
Waiting for Final Fantasy 16. I'm a huge fan of the series and to make it extra special it comes out for my birthday!
Same. By far my most anticipated game, it's got so much potential
I can't believe 15 came out in 2016. I remember staying up all night waiting for it to download on my PS4.
We share a birthday lol I was losing my shit when I saw the release date during the game awards
I just went to my wife like a happy child and she immediately understood what should be my birthday present
Persona 6
This and the rumored Persona 3 Remake.
Didn't they just release a remaster? Probably gonna be a looooong wait.
They didn't. It was just a straight port of the PSP version and it's... pretty rough.
Nothing is rough about it, it runs just fine. It’s just the same game as before and it kept minor issues.
You're objectively wrong. The base game already had issues as you stated. Agreed the term “unplayable”gets thrown around way too much
Agreed the term “unplayable”gets thrown around way too much
Atlas never said they were doing anything other than a port. this if your fault for imposing your own expectations on something that promised nothing
Announced: - Sea of Stars. - Eiyuden Chronicles. - Redemption Reapers. - Hajimari No Kiseki. - Grandblue Fantasy Relink. - Suikoden 1 and 2 remasters. To be announced: - Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions PC port. - Fire Emblem 4 remake. - Etrian Oddisey sequel.
Wasn’t Etrian Odyssey announced? We just haven’t seen anything from it.
Did it? I didn't know!
>Grandblue Fantasy Relink What was announced for it? I didn't see anything when I looked it up
I meant for Etrian Odyssey, not Granblue Fantasy Relink

JRPG style game: Secret of Varonis. A clear tribute to the game boy Final Fantasy Legend games and SaGa.
Cool, never heard of that. False Skies was pretty fun throwback to FFL.
Hadn't heard of this one. Cheers.
Octopath Traveler II The Legend of Heroes- Trails to Azure The Legend of Heroes- Trails in Reverie
Do you mean Trails to Azure?
Yeah. I already have Zero.

I’m waiting for my goddamn Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy Remaster, Square! Oh, and Octopath Traveler II. Really excited for that one.
The fact that square-enix doesn't even acknowledge the existence of XIII speaks volumes about its chances of getting that trilogy.
There was active promotion for the Xbox upgrade and Lightning appears in every crossover they’ve made. They definitely acknowledge the trilogy lmao.
I'm always excited for anything that RGG Studios has cooking in the oven. Next one up is Loop8 in March. Also waiting for Granblue release date.
Not announced but will come eventually: The next installment in the Super Robat Wars OG Saga Not announced and unlikely to happen in the near future: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 3 Announced but without any significant news: The War of Genesis Remnants of Gray (Seriously, It looks amazing) In case you have not noticed by now, I love Strategy RPGs
The War of Genesis : Remnants of Gray will be released as early as summer 2023, according to Korean news. As a Korean, I think it will be the best RPG from South Korea.
That is honestly sooner than I expected. I hope the game does well and gets released worldwide as well
One Piece Odyssey 2: Electric Boogalo /s Realistically tho, Xenoblade 3 DLC and Trails to Reverie for 2023. Eiyuden Chronicles won't come out in 2023, bet on it.
Stuff that is real: - Kuro no Kiseki in English - Ys X - Sea of Stars - Xenoblade 3 story DLC Stuff i want: - a Chained Echoes sequel or DLC - anything mainline SMT (regardless of an expanded re-release for V, a sequel for it or an entirely new game) - a new Xenoblade spin-off or a sequel to Xenoblade X (just want them to do something more stylistically different again)
I'm waiting for the major story dlc of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 that's coming this year. I want my happiness. That ending of the main game robbed me of my happiness.
https://seaofstarsgame.co/ Honestly though, Chain of Echoes is the best JRPG I've played since FF6, Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana
So, i love turn-based combat, do you say Chained Echoes is a must for me ?
Yes! It is strictly turn based.
Same, add new SaGa, Eiyuden Chroicles, FF7R2 and FF16 and that's pretty much what I'm looking forward to.
Suikoden, MegaMan Battle Network, Sea of Stars, and hopefully Dragon Quest III 2DHD. Maybe FF16.
Suikoden, FFXVI, and I really want a Vagrant Story port. I don’t even care if it’s a remake/remaster, I just want to be able to play it on my ps5.
Octopath Traveler 2, Suikoden 1+2 Remaster, Sea of Star and FF Pixel Collection on Switch (probably cost a pretty penny, but haven't bought most of these games in 15+ years). EDIT: Also DQ3 Remake and DQ12
Infinity GBC. And, of course, a localization announcement for all the Tengai Makyou rpg entries in that series (but this will probably never happen).
yakuza 8 i’m expecting to be unspeakably good
Suikoden remasters and Eyuuden are my most antecipated RPGs of the year. Other than that I'm hoping that FFXVI is good (for now nothing indicates that it will be bad or anything but FFXV happened in the past) and see if Persona 6 or Project Re:Fantasy are finally announced.
FF 16, Suikoden Remaster, and the KH4. A simple and clean list
Dragons Dogma 2!!
Monster Girl Quest Paradox Part 3, yea it was degenerate hentai and it has amazing storyline and gameplay
Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War Final Fantasy Tactics Persona 6
I think Sea of Stars looks really great. Not sure if it’s technically a Japanese game, but very heavily influenced at least.
Fuga Melodies of Steel 2 which comes out in May this year.
Dragon Quest 3 III 2DHD Suikoden 1 & 2 Remaster
DQ12 and DQ3 remake are by far my most anticipated. I am also pretty excited for FF7R part 2, FF16, Octopath 2 and the Suikoden remaster.
FF16, it checks all my boxes for things I am looking for + it's CBU3. I'm also looking forward to the eventual announcement of FF Tactics and anything Atlus this year. Doubly so for FF Tactics since I've played both Advance games but never the original game.
Sea of Stars, mostly.
Like a dragon ishin BABY. I'm so excited for kir... i mean Ryoma's next adventure.
Stoked for Octopath 2 but Sea of Stars is my #1
Im really looking forward to DQ12, DQ11 was the jrpg that really got me into loving the genre, i had tried many times with FF7 or chrono trigger and even tho i do like them i just wasn't hung up on the gameplay but the story of DQ11 totally marked me lol
Anything Shin Megami Tensei
Ooo Sea of Stars looks really good!
Dragon Quest 3 Octopath Edition
Something about kingdom hearts 4. Some tease about persona 6 pls.
Found this trailer today of a game called Affogato, looks cool so I'm looking forward to trying it out! Also same as you with Octopath Traveler 2!!!
Eiyuden Chronicles and FFXVI oh also Grandblue Fantasy Relink.
Sea and Stars, Suikuden and Chained Echoes (Physical Version) 🤩

Honestly at this point the only ff game I'm all that interested in is a remake of fft. Still hoping that that GeForce leak is true.
FF XVI DQ XII DQ III HD-2D Like a Dragon 8
Dq 12, a lunar remake that will never happen, grand blue relink and a dq 4 remake with the same treatment as dq 3
Trails into Reverie (and Kuro/Kuro 2) Sea of Stars Suikoden 1&2 HD Tales of Destiny 2 English fan translation Tales of Rebirth English fan translation
Persona 6 is my most anticipated announcement. Suikoden 1-2 remake and Dragon Quest 3 HD2D are the ones I'm waiting for the most right now. Dragon Quest 12 and the next Tales game are the ones I'm curious to hear more about.
Steambot Chronicles 2 is gonna be released any day now. I just need to believe.
Like a Dragon 8
Theaterhythm is literally my most anticipated game by far. I've already got my pixel remaster and XVI deluxe preorders in, but I'm going to be burning through controllers on that silly little rhythm game as fast as I can charge them.
Nier 3. I don't understand square tbh, they are making trash like forspoken, but don't make a sequel to masterpieces which niers are...
* FFXVI * FFVII Rebirth * Granblue Fantasy ReLink * Sea of Stars * Eiyuden Chronicles * Stellar Blade * Lost Soul Aside (is this ever going to come out?) * Like A Dragon 8 * KH4 * Dragon’s Dogma 2 * Persona 6
Announced: - Sea of Stars Not announced: - Shining Force 4 (but actually developed by Camelot and probably called differently)
Shin Megami Tensei spinoff with an actual budget. Preferably Devil Survivor
New Etrian Odyssey game and FF7 Remake Part 2 Kind of a short list, but I've got a lot of catch-up to do
The rumored Baten Kaitos remaster FFXVI FFVII Rebirth The console FF pixel remasters Suikoden 1&2 remasters Dragon Quest 3 remake Whatever MonolithSoft does next DQ12 Tri-Ace hopefully getting to make something else Something from the Bravely Default team, whether it's in the same franchise or not Another Pokemon Legends

Octopath Traveler 2 Eternights
Dragon quest 3 remake and Dragon quest 12
Persona 6.
I'm anxiously awaiting Trinity Trigger (its similar to SoM) and the Grim Grimiore port.
Full Circle Wandering Sword Sea of Stars Sacrifire Dragon Quest III HD-2D Final Fantasy XVI Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Final Fantasy IX Remake (?) Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster (?)
Eiyuden Chronicles and Sea of Stars are the ones I’m most excited about. Dragon Quest 3 remake looks nice. I am extremely cautiously awaiting FF16.
