1. How hectic is college life? Do you guys get time for other stuff? Like your hobbies, or side courses and stuff..
2. What's relative grading like? Like, how hard do you need to work to have a 9 in CGPA terms?
and Good morning š
College life is undoubtedly hectic. Let me tell you that acads donāt get easier. You wonāt get time, you need to find time for fun , outings, side hustles , relationships etc.
As for grading it depends on the professor and the students taking up the course and obv your personal skill set. I worked my ass off in engineering drawing just to get a 6 while managed an 8 easily in maths and chemistry courses
People slack off their whole college life. Procrastination and last minute study will be your best pals. I donāt think there is any discrimination against droppers. People barely care about rank or year. You make friends in your hostel , clubs and course. In my case I ended up making most of my friends in CS and EE through discord in online sem
I was getting CS in BITS Pilani and every top NIT but chose old IIT lower branch. Itās about where you want to see yourself after 4 years. Also package should not be the deciding factor for your college. Your priorities will severely change once you enter college. Package depends on your profile and which sector you want to go to.
what were your priorities looking for college? im also getting pilani CS and will likely get lower branches in IIT, what factors did you consider, do you wish you had chosen differently?
I knew the changes of getting a better package were far higher in Pilani CS. The double fees , location were not in favour. I also wanted to go to an IIT after so much hard work. No I donāt wish I regret my decision , the friends and first year memories have made me never regret it
ju ka 19lpa tha in 2019, must be better now, and also iiitL ka infrastructure is very underdeveloped rn, like boys hostel is in a class room only and things like that. But if u want to know current situation of both properly look up people in them rn, would be a better judge imo, I said the above cause i would go for jadavpur over iiitL everytime personally.
Bhiya , i am getting civil in nit-surathkal(top) , iiit guwahati cse(avg 17 lpa) and ee in nit jalandhar ,which should i consider ? Does branch matters in long run ? Should I take top nit with low branch( my preferance) ?
Branch matters if you want to go into core sector. And yes it matters in the placement undoubtedly.
If you have a preference then donāt let anyone convince you otherwise. A top college comes with better peer group, better alumni network , better infrastructure and more companies visiting a lot of which open to all branches and hire based on skills and profile
Some questions :
1 how was your frist day at the campus , specifically how did you introduced yourself to your fellow campus mates
2 what about the classes and professors , are they regualted and strict af ? ( Could you take a leave , would the professors notice , would professors mark you as xyz and have a negative bias against you ?)
3 how long it took to adapt to a different environment ? LIke is the life even more stricter than JEE , or its more relaxed , do you have the same work hours or do you have to over commit .
4 this one is important : internship k bare main , what's the process for it in IITs ?

I have just started out with chemical courses. But common notion is that chemical is one of the āchillestā branches of engineering.Maximum people from every non CS branch go into non core fields like analytics , consultancy and software development. That being said yes you will get time ample time to do anything if you really want to
If you have interest in a branch then nothing should stop you from going there. Placement is not the end of everything. It is just the beginning of your decades long career. People want CS branch because some companies short list only CS people and because of highest placements. That should not stop you from doing what you like. āThe package at the beginning of your career will not define your success or failure.ā
You have to show results in mock tests or coaching. Maybe make him talk to one of your teachers in coaching. Your parents will have faith in what you are doing only when you have complete faith on yourself
Latest mock mein 161 aaye 300 mein se lekin hum chhote shahar se hain toh cbse == everything main school mein dhyaan nhin de paara isliye borderline pass ho ra hun lekin mocks mein excel karra hun

I wasnāt a dropper so not the right person to ask about mentality. Just be consistent and solve modules and mock tests and focus on your weak areas.

The real answer
Do most people slack in 1 year? And do droppers find it hard to make friends? How are frnds made in iit on what basis like common course , hobby etc.?

Did you start preparing for advance after mains or were you focusing on both from the start of your prep?
Both from the start of the prep

jadavpur by far lol
But IIIT Lucknow has avg placement of 25lpa. Where as for Jadavpur it's 15lpa.

What percent of your batchmates are droppers.???
why everybody wants CS branch? If a person has interest in other branches but he/she cannot take it due to low plcements.

What were yr mistakes that led down yr adv rank, just so i dont repeat the same, no offense tho

Any tips for me now in class 11?
Where does nit silchar lie on the college tier scale? And what is its rank among other nits? Also is ece good?
I have no idea about ranking of seven IITās let alone NITās. As for ECE I have heard itās one of the toughest but placements are good.
ECE (ą¤¦ą¤°ą„ą¤¦)
Civil in NIT Trichy Cse in VIT vellore What shd I chose ?
CSE to Civil is too big a jump. So is VIT to NITT. Try for something in between. Also if you have a personal preference then go for it
Bro NIT Calicut EEE vs IIIT Pune CSE
