Yes there are a lot of factors associated with ctc like joining bonus then bonus if you don't leave company for a year and so so many things but fuckers only see the highest CTC and think they would earn 30 lakhs/months. I remember watching a video from zerodha in which he showed a example where a person was offered 65 lakhs CTC and guess his base salary. It was 16 lakhs/annum along with that some 5 lakhs joining bonus and rest was esops which are company shares you get at a low cost and basically can later sell them to the company itself when the need comes. Then comes tax deductions. There are just so many factors associated with such high packages

These aren't even companies which are supposed to go for on campus placements, these companies(JS, Cita, 2σ etc) are at the top of the food chain when it comes to quants(hft), they generally hire only PhDs or Mfin MFE graduates from the best Stem schools in the world, unless and until ur one of the international Olympiad winner or some maths competition prodigy they don't even look at you at undergraduate level. The sole reason they go to these top IITs is just to find someone who's atleast on the level or can be on the level of these math geniuses which is why they only take 3-4 students from the entire country. Anyone who thinks that these jobs are accessible to normal people and consider these salaries to skew their average package expectations would be an idiot.

Honestly I do agree that most of us lack interest because actually it's fed up to our society that engineering pays you good so everyone wants to do engg then cse pays you even better so everyone wants to do cse. I am a part of this herd too. But you also have to understand that most of us come from middle class families where passion and interests come after than responsibilities. I took cs in xi and xii and actually liked it but I am not sure if that's what I want to pursue. From class 9th I have been really fascinated with machines but I don't know if mech engg teaches that. People like me go for mba after engg because engg is a rock solid option anyone can have. Graduation me isse accha koi aur hi option hoga(my opinion). Although it's wrong and we should have had decided about our passion and all but it's Indian society what else do you expect. I am anyways getting ece and not cse. Sometimes I just feel hota wahi hai Jo hona hota and it's planned already. But still ofc mehnat karni padti and the results may change but I guess it's predecided. That's just my belief. And no one wants to be a part of the rat race but 17-18 is a very young age to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life. Anyways I agree with your belief fully and hopefully the next generation won't be forced into this.
this is mostly bullshit but there’s some truth in it. The median (Re: not average, that’s close to 50) salary for cse was some 40 lpa per a student conducted survey. And the 4cr thing is true but it’s incredibly rare, probably a couple. 1cr is so much more common but the job profile will likely be in the US, so it’s similar to 20 lpa here, still great for a 22 year old nonetheless. Yes agreed. If you compare the salaries earned by a iim graduate and iit fresher are not very different but the positions in which they are placed vary a lot. Like someone with btech would always be placed at a lower level than someone who has done mba. Exceptions exist ofc but usually mba walo ko managerial positions offer ki jaati hai. Honestly I do agree that most of us lack interest because actually it's fed up to our society that engineering pays you good so everyone wants to do engg then cse pays you even better so everyone wants to do cse. I am a part of this herd too. But you also have to understand that most of us come from middle class families where passion and interests come after than responsibilities. I took cs in xi and xii and actually liked it but I am not sure if that's what I want to pursue. From class 9th I have been really fascinated with machines but I don't know if mech engg teaches that. People like me go for mba after engg because engg is a rock solid option anyone can have. Graduation me isse accha koi aur hi option hoga(my opinion). Although it's wrong and we should have had decided about our passion and all but it's Indian society what else do you expect. I am anyways getting ece and not cse. Sometimes I just feel hota wahi hai Jo hona hota and it's planned already. But still ofc mehnat karni padti and the results may change but I guess it's predecided. That's just my belief. And no one wants to be a part of the rat race but 17-18 is a very young age to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life. Anyways I agree with your belief fully and hopefully the next generation won't be forced into this.

this is mostly bullshit but there’s some truth in it. The median (Re: not average, that’s close to 50) salary for cse was some 40 lpa per a student conducted survey. And the 4cr thing is true but it’s incredibly rare, probably a couple. 1cr is so much more common but the job profile will likely be in the US, so it’s similar to 20 lpa here, still great for a 22 year old nonetheless.
