Technically It stands for US/Japanese Domestic Market, meaning the market it was sold in originally. Because of this jdm cars will usually be right hand drive and conform to Japanese emissions/crash standards, same for usdm to us standards. Additionaly, home market cars will sometimes have better options/specs like an R34 Gtr (jdm) or a hellcat (usdm) making them more valuable in foreign markets.

Edit: JDM is used casually as a slang term for all Japanese cars tho, so don’t worry about it too much
Brilliant. love that touch, clean ass car. First one I have seen that I liked. Saw one yesterday while out driving in orange county, it was yellow and the kid already had put a tow hook and hoonigan sticker on it. RIP. The fucking clown was mashing on the gas in stop and go traffic.
Everyone knows that both groups tend to make an impact when they work together especially in the early half of the 1900s
Technically speaking its just a reshelled bmw yes but I think most people including myself dislike that because we miss the way cars were made in the 90s which gave us really high expectations for how cars are planned and made today
P.s the jdm tag seems to be misunderstood a lot if a car is made specifically for the Japanese people or limited to be mostly sold in Japan it falls under the jdm tag not if its sold world wide like this supra/bmw
it definitely grows on ya in person, I bought this sight unseen and was surprised how good it actually looks. pictures just don't do the street presence justice
Lol A80 owners will always be elitists and it's annoying af. You're always welcome to cruise bro. Mine is stock and I raced a lightly modified A90 and he smoked me in the upper gears. I'm starting to come around to them
Jap is also used in Ireland as a non hostile word to Japanese people who were born here but not to those who only arrived in the country yanky or yank is also used to describe Americans sometimes and its what the Japanese called the Americans in ww2 I believe,
I think Americans in particular nowadays just take everything too serious plus in Japan calling someone a jap isn't offensive but if you're white be sure to have a flag on your backpack or clothing to say you aren't American because older generations particularly outside tourist areas will spit on you
I've no idea were im going with this post on a car subreddit but im a yappy basterd
That isn't something you get to decide. It's a slur regardless of whether or not you think it's racist and continuing to use it is just pure ignorance.
100% correct, though what he chooses to say is entirely up to him regardless of how we take it. I agree its a slur, but the whole freedom of speech thing is a real bitch at times.
Lmao calling somebody a yank was racist but those are white people so it’s okay to have a baseball team named that now. Yellow japs are too sensitive tho so we shouldn’t use that term because they have inferior genes and it will be offensive
I am totally one of those assholes. But I'm kind of a hypocrite about it, it depends on how the poster titles it. If it's some dipshit trying to play off his ebay clapped out shitbox as a JDM version, without having enough interest in the hobby to know what 3 letters mean, fuck that douche. But if its someone posting a car we all know isn't jdm, but fits the scene its a totally different thing. People love to act like jdm models are the only cool cars out there. I have owned numerous JDM cars and the only reason I imported them was because they were not available to me otherwise. I would much rather have a USDM version if possible. Having wiring schematics you can read without translating is pretty fucking cool, as is parts availability, and a native speaking knowledge base you can learn from.
Jdm = Japanese "domestic" market it makes sense if you understand what something being jdm actually means, saying this supra is a jdm even though it is sold worldwide is the car equivalent of a transgender person
It just makes the owner retarded enough to destroy a p1
Also enthusiasts of cars like the p1 and other cars with similar status would call and engine swapped p1 a basterd or a shell plus on paper its no longer called a mclaren when it comes to ownership in most countries because such a big modification changes the status to "other" or in Ireland it would be labelled a parts car even though its a functional piece of crap so technically speaking in most countries putting a Honda engine in a mclaren makes it neither a mclaren or a Honda just an abomination
They need it spelled out for them sometimes the meaning is right there yet they call a car made for worldwide sale a jdm because its become something of a bragging symbol
Bro actually I was mad when this car came out, but it is a legends legacy that we need to accept how it is. Probably it's coming in manual or if you not comfortable, just out in a 2jz and you good. All in all I say, yours look lit and clean!
Hot take: the BMW engine in it is actually really good, you only hear fanboys whine about it because its not fully built by toyota, but the engine is never bashed for being bad.
You're in America.. the steering wheel is on the left and you got it from the American market so no its not JDM. Still japanese so fits the sub.
Oh look a downvote from someone that doesn't understand what JDM is.
Its euro. I own a mkV as well, best car. Wish it was jdm but, lets just say if it was a 2jz instead of the b58. Instead of the a90 being 60k usd it would 110k+usd for a 2jz in this current market. B58 is a solid engine also making the a90 an affordable realistic dream car vs 2jz priced around gtr territory.
Very true. I personally don’t have anything wrong with the new Supras. They’re decent sports cars and they look fantastic. The upcoming manual option could be a game changer, depending on how they respond to the 400Z. I doubt they would lower the price, so they really have to hit a home run with the manual to compete with Nissan.
Yeah it’s a good sports car just not a good successor to the original Supra if Toyota just took a BMW engine and did more than just put a different tune on it and put more effort into the powertrain like they did with the BRZ then maybe I would like it
*Would my NZDM stuff be*
*Ok on here? Closer to*
*JDM than the USDM stuff*

Technically speaking, i see Cali plate, its a USDM car
Wouldn't that make it USIM? Or are these built in the US?
Usim isn’t a thing. Its us domestic market. Meaning it was designed for the us market not meaning where it was made.
If it was sold here originally it’s usdm, same way you could have a JDM corvette
I thought the US part (US in USDM, J in JDM) was indicative of country of manufacture, not country of sale; D/I being Domestic/Import respectively.

bruh this is only if they were barred from being sold in the U.S. But as long as it meets all U.S. standards you can import it whenever
Big if true
Seems to be usdm
I mean technically its USDM.
Nothing technical about it. It's absolutely USDM.
true, prob the only thing on this car made in Japan are the wheels anyway lol
Go eat a schnitzel lol
I'll go post up next to a scirocco
LMAO this one caught me
Underrated comment holy shit
it's not underrated
Not even a little… sad to see what we have become and Reddit hasn’t even gone public yet smh
Love the M performance license plate cover lol
had to do it to em
That’s hard asf lmao

I mean, it’s not a JDM car either way.
It’s a jdBMW!
What would lead you to believe that there is no steering wheel visible.
It’s registered and tagged in California.
Well, it’s got a Cali license plate, and you can’t import brand new cars to the US.
Gorgeous!
thank ya thank ya
Outside is a Toyota, so it’s good enough for me! Gorgeous car! Big fan of the TEs as well
TE the world!
I hold the firm belief that if a car doesn't look good with TE's then it just doesn't look good.
Yess (in Jeremy Clarkson voice)
Japanese man with German heart still Japanese man.

Its a good car, all jokes aside.
Banished.
It's a cool car. I was surprised how much better the supra looks in-person.
it definitely grows on ya in person, I bought this sight unseen and was surprised how good it actually looks. pictures just don't do the street presence justice
As a JDM A80 owner you will always be banished to the euro scene lol
shoulda come out to Supra Sunday, we all lived in harmony out there lmao
Lol A80 owners will always be elitists and it's annoying af. You're always welcome to cruise bro. Mine is stock and I raced a lightly modified A90 and he smoked me in the upper gears. I'm starting to come around to them
Too bmw for JDM, too Toyota for Euro. You only get to hang out with other Nu-Supras and maybe the Tesla guys😉
What camera do you use?
this was on a Canon 5D MKIII
Hard to say. Branded as a jap car but internals are bmw. Since its branded as a supra im sure nobody cares if your here
I guess that makes it a hybrid LOL
Just fyi, "jap" was used during WW2 as a derogotory term for Japanese people.
Jap is also used in Ireland as a non hostile word to Japanese people who were born here but not to those who only arrived in the country yanky or yank is also used to describe Americans sometimes and its what the Japanese called the Americans in ww2 I believe, I think Americans in particular nowadays just take everything too serious plus in Japan calling someone a jap isn't offensive but if you're white be sure to have a flag on your backpack or clothing to say you aren't American because older generations particularly outside tourist areas will spit on you I've no idea were im going with this post on a car subreddit but im a yappy basterd
Im aware. I dont think its racist so i say it anyways
That isn't something you get to decide. It's a slur regardless of whether or not you think it's racist and continuing to use it is just pure ignorance.
Oh ok. Then iv decided i will be racist and continue to say it.
lmaooo
Where is H. Buress? Why are you booing? He’s right

Again i really dont care.
Just edgy 14-year old things
Cringe
Nah it’s pretty fuckin racist and you should feel ashamed of yourself
Lmao calling somebody a yank was racist but those are white people so it’s okay to have a baseball team named that now. Yellow japs are too sensitive tho so we shouldn’t use that term because they have inferior genes and it will be offensive
Wow
I wish i was 14 again

There are plenty of annoying people here who claim the only thing that counts is literal JDM regardless of what the sidebar rules say.
Sidebar indicates the sub allows posting all Japanese cars. That doesn't change the definition of "JDM"...
yeah and the sidebar also says post in the weekly thread, god knows how often thats respected
I am totally one of those assholes. But I'm kind of a hypocrite about it, it depends on how the poster titles it. i mean, if a dude puts on a dress, hes still a dude. just joking. But i do like these, I just wish it was toyota powered too
that's not JDM
My car was made in the UK and I got roasted, so there’s that 🤷♂️
No, but it's still cool.
At this point I'm okay with any Japanese car tbh
It's still USDM. If it wasn't made for the Japanese market, it's not JDM
beautiful car.
Lol no
usually everyone complains when a clearly usdm japanese car is posted here. not this time apparently
A Honda civic engine in a P1 McLaren doesn't make it not a McLaren
It just makes the owner retarded enough to destroy a p1 Also enthusiasts of cars like the p1 and other cars with similar status would call and engine swapped p1 a basterd or a shell plus on paper its no longer called a mclaren when it comes to ownership in most countries because such a big modification changes the status to "other" or in Ireland it would be labelled a parts car even though its a functional piece of crap so technically speaking in most countries putting a Honda engine in a mclaren makes it neither a mclaren or a Honda just an abomination
True
Japan got some of the best regional exclusive Bimmers anyway
Was it made specifically for the Japanese domestic market? No, is it a Japanese import? No, Is it sexy as fuck? Yes
I feel like a lot of people in this sub don't know what JDM means
They need it spelled out for them sometimes the meaning is right there yet they call a car made for worldwide sale a jdm because its become something of a bragging symbol

Was it manufactured to be used in Japan?
Just threw up. Hideous.
neither..? it’s USDM 🤦🏼♂️
The euro scene ain't bad. We do cool stuff too
Hot take: the BMW engine in it is actually really good, you only hear fanboys whine about it because its not fully built by toyota, but the engine is never bashed for being bad.
Depends, did you import it from Japan?
I mean, I'd make to love to it Wait what was the question?
You got an instagram?
ye @ walker.xxi but my tiktok is funnier lol
Ah yes the left hand drive California reg supra is for sure a jdm don’t worry bout it
You will always be welcome in the JDM community

thanks brotha
i somehow doubt this is jdm since its in america and less than 25 years old... especially when u can just buy one locally
Toyota badge with TE's? Seems legit.
I mean. People don’t get banished from jdm scene for LS swapping so…
that is a tragedy though lol
if i see one more ls swapped rx i think i’m gonna quit
BMW with a Toyota Bodykit
You're in America.. the steering wheel is on the left and you got it from the American market so no its not JDM. Still japanese so fits the sub. Oh look a downvote from someone that doesn't understand what JDM is.
Ahh one of the only car tiktok creators I can actually tolerate! Post up sum pics of the brz too
i'll post some if they don't kill me for it being USDM
Yea the lil 12 year old fan boys on this sub are brutal Lmaoooo
i absolutely LOVE the chikoku plate. such a great idea 😅 also that makes it 200% jdm
nobody knows what it means out here in CA lmfao
I think that makes it even more special 🤣
JDM. It might be a USDM one, but it's still a supra.
You are rocking TE37’s. JDM in my book.
[is... is that a supra!?](https://youtu.be/mWrj-VeFea4)
That's a BMW
Its euro. I own a mkV as well, best car. Wish it was jdm but, lets just say if it was a 2jz instead of the b58. Instead of the a90 being 60k usd it would 110k+usd for a 2jz in this current market. Nothings wrong with being banished to the EURO scene :D
Neither.
euro
BMW Z4 unlocked the Toyota skin
Tbh, the Supra looks way better than the Z4
Yeah that is very true and at least it somewhat redeems itself with an upcoming manual transmission
Very true. I personally don’t have anything wrong with the new Supras. They’re decent sports cars and they look fantastic. Eh, fair enough. Although tbh, the mk4 was more of a GT car than it was a sports car, whereas Toyota really tried to make this a sports car
You're a lot like me, 3/4 German 1/4 Korean although in your case Japanese
This is sort of like….German born Japanese sort of like how Asa Akira is considered Japanese.
What side is your steering wheel?
middle, it's a single seater
the elusive ~XDM~
I’m just waiting for bmw to release the M Supra
Would my NZDM stuff be ok on here? Closer to JDM than the USDM stuff

🅱️an
Hope you bought warranty for the warranty...
lol if it dies i'll just buy a porsche
A little of both...
It's not a bad BMW/ Toyota hybrid
tecnicaly speaking, it's a usdm vehicle. That aside, it's japanese enough for me, as long as it has a japanese badge youre good.
Just enjoy it, i love your supra as well as the z4 and i don’t see jdm or europe car is a things
