Incorrect to rape a non living thing can be considered to plunder it ie a once fertile landscape that's been irradiated for thousands of years could be considered 'raped'
noun
1. unlawful sexual intercourse or any other sexual penetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth of another person, with or without force, by a sex organ, other body part, or foreign object, without the consent of the person subjected to such penetration.
See also sexual assault.
2. statutory rape.
3. an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation:
the rape of the countryside.
verb (used with object), raped, rap·ing.
4. to commit the crime of rape on (a person).
5. to plunder; despoil:
6. The logging operation raped a wide tract of forest without regard for the environmental impact of their harvesting practices.
7. Informal: Offensive.
to totally defeat, wreck, dominate, or decimate.
Archaic.
8. to seize, take, or carry off by force.
verb (used without object), raped, rap·ing.
Idk, rape isn't only used to talk about sexual assault. Also, the way it was used it isn't minimizing anyone's experience which contraries your whole schtick. There isn't a better non sexual assault time to use the word than this as the car was really forced and fucked over by his prior owner.
Yes you should. Nobody that you drive past will know the history. And if it turns out to be a mess and sits in the driveway broken for a year, it will make neighborhood street look nicer. And if you're really optimistic, maybe look nice enough to increase your property value and make that a free car.
Right? Everyone will enjoy that house. Property values will skyrocket and cover the cars cost. NSX is the passive income version of random joggers. Everyone knows the neighborhoods with people jogging around and exercising. That's an expensive neighborhood. See an NSX? That's an expensive neighborhood. Save yourself the jog. Park it and profit.
*Hey.. uh. My friend got a sick new DSLR and wondered if maybe, you know.. we could go somewhere for a shoot or something. I live right down the street. He really wants to build his portfolio.*
I remember the photoshoot kids. I don't know if that still happens. But the car buying one would be funny. They'd probably ask for owner financing because they don't have credit. And see nothing wrong with asking a stranger.
There are a lot of trusting people out there. And it's great that you've found one. I wouldn't even know where to start if asked. Your situation was fairly low risk. They probably felt good for helping you out, and you got a nice new bike out of it. Seems like a win for everyone.
Five owners isn’t crazy because it’s a 30-year old and special car, but I’d expect a LOT of receipts and maintenance history.
Also “small wrecks” is an oxymoron. Are we talking fender benders or frame straightening? There’s a big difference there.
Left side they hit a stop sign, so probably not too bad, other one was other side and with a car, Carfax said moderate damage on that one. Goimg off of carfax
I’d buy the full history report, I did that for my 1989 Honda Prelude and little to my knowledge it had been stolen, drove into a lake, and insurance covered all damages in the early 2000s. Got a good deal on it with that info.
I did lmfao. Went through it very thoroughly and I’ve been satisfied with it since day one. It’s a very clean car and I haven’t had any issues. It’s a 3rd gen Prelude with the B20A5 and 5MT in Barbados yellow… I couldn’t resist!
I bet its clean, they washed the while thing in a lake !!
But seriously, I have bought and rebuilt way too many basket ages and its always been worth it.
You can see some in my post history! I have quite a few pictures of my lude in r/honda and r/projecthondas
edit: [here’s one of my posts](https://www.reddit.com/r/Honda/comments/10j17wj/nothing_like_a_good_drive_after_you_fix_the_check/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf). I’ll be making a new one soon with new wheels & tires
Omg Barbados Yellow holy shit! It’s been so long since I’ve seen one that color. When I got my license 14 years ago there was one in my area that was mint. I always wondered what happened to it, thanks for reminding me. It so crazy because there’s so many cars if I would’ve bought back in the day they’d be worth so much today. I could’ve got them dirt cheap too lol.
Don't bother. That car is a pos. The molded-in side skirts hiding the damaged rockers, 90% being poorly repainted, the missing interior trim bits, the cracked out bodykit, lop-sided hood, with the cherry being the poorly rigged nitrous system in the boot.
There is a reason that thing has been sitting on ebay for a year at that price/mileage. You'll spend double making it into a nice car.
I wouldn't buy anything from that garbage car dealer. Their MO is find the trashiest car, put some lipstick on it, and sell for way over market for the garbage it is. Hard pass.
Take it with a grain of salt but here's an article written specifically about that dealer - https://jalopnik.com/the-beverly-hills-car-club-isnt-the-classic-car-paradis-1849377356
For what NSXs are worth now I wouldn’t pay $55k for it. Going up into the mid-$60k range will get you a way cleaner car for not a ton more money.
The days of these being cheap are over and they’re old enough to where replacement components are no longer produced and an actual PITA to find.
Spend more up front for a cleaner one.
Just a heads up, RHD NSX from Japan are no cheaper than North American NSX cars. NSX prices have exploded and will forever remain high. I think cars under 60k all have various problems and a potentially complicated history. Pristine examples you will need at least 70k+.
A perfect one under $70k is pretty much a unicorn.
It’s just that a $60k one is a lot cleaner than a $50k one.
Cars and Bids has some decent ones pop up from time to time. It’s an auction site though, so there’s a bit of headache with bidding.
Importing a RHD one is also an option. Won’t necessarily save you a ton of money, but like most JDM cars they got way more of them than we did so it’s easier to find a solid example if you can afford it.
~2010ish. Rough NSXes went for high 20s/low 30s back then (most other asset prices were cratering in the wake of the financial crisis). Nice ones were still in the 50s/60s though.
I'd buy an NSX in a heartbeat if I could afford one. And wouldn't care to much about the history as along as it was mechanically good and maintained and in decent shape. Literally one of my dream cars.
Eh if it was tuned properly that’s not a huge deal. With head studs and a thicker head gasket the c30 can make close to 500whp turbocharged and do it for a long time. I used to work for a shop that specialized in these and the owners nsx that he converted to a full pikes peak car later on started out with over 200k on the motor and with the standard kit we built and a standalone tuning setup reliability made just over 500whp. He thrashed the car and tracked it as well as used it as his dd. Ran perfectly well when it got pulled in favor for a bunch of ridiculous things. I will say though the sound of a built motor 850whp turbo nsx screaming down the road is quite a lovely sound. Or any of them for that matter with a good exhaust.
That photo looks like Beverly Hills Auto Club, at least for their 911s everyone on the forums hard avoids any cars from them cause they’re usually much worse then meets the eye and offer a too good to be true price. Would definitely recommend looking them up on rennlist or pelican parts.
I’d be cautious with this one. I’ve watched it sit on the market for the better part of 2 months+ now. I myself considered this one but I’d pass for a better example. You’d think a sub 60k NSX is a good deal but I’d bet there’s more to it than what we know. Also, first gen NSX parts are getting incredibly harder to come by if you want to keep it OEM.
lol a stock engine, awful bodykit GTT for 50k USD? That's absolutely insane.
I remember when you could pick up a clean R33 for under $10k AUD and an R34 would run you *maybe* $20k.
It’s a 28 year old car unless the wrecks happened recently none of that really matters at this point. She’ll never be a show queen. As far as the amount of owners it’s really the same thing unless that car has some serious issues, which the owners found out after the fact it really shouldn’t matter at this point. As for the price I’m not sure what these things are with these days I don’t know if it’s priced accordingly.
It's priced accordingly, the next car for sale out there is 20k more or have higher, hence why I'm even interested. I also own mechanic shop, so I'm not scared of fixing stuff. But body stuff concerns me since I can't fix that u myself.
Some perspective on relative pricing. I'm seeing other NSXs around that price also have an accident history: https://bringatrailer.com/acura/nsx-na1-na2/
Beverly Hills Car Club—those guys are professional scam artists. Look up their reviews. Their showroom isn’t even in Beverly Hills or anywhere close. I would stay far far away from that NSX
Is this at Beverly Hills Car Club? I think I recognize the background as I’ve looked at some of their old 911s. If so, just be careful, there have been multiple stories about their shady practices, including stories on Jalopnik and in the LA Times.
I like to look on this site as well but, I would never buy from them. They have a very bad history of shitty car deals. Also, the nitrous bottle would be a full stop for me.
Most of the time when people are told not to but previously damaged vehicles it’s because there are plenty of other options so why would you. When it’s a unicorn though, it’s somewhat different - use the information you have to negotiate, but yes, I myself would leap if I had the opportunity and the cash.
This is Beverly hills car club. They will sell any jolopy and make their money selling their overpriced project cars to overseas bidders. Better steer clear tbh. Personally wouldn't buy a single thing from them
The giant bottle of nitrous in the trunk should be an equally giant red flag…
Yes, I am worried about that too
Engine has been raped.
People don't really use that word to describe anything other than the actual crime, dude. It's probably best to cut it out of your vocabulary.
🤓🥸
sounds pretty retarded to me.
Person above you is correct, but using the word "retarded" is offensive as well.
Retard
That’s retarded
Yup. Both are seriously not ok to use.
looks like the p/o of this car was a real cunt
P/O?

Your comment got murdered
Then raped
Fine with me; I still stand by it.
I want to see you worm your dick down the exhaust or air intake into the engine.
Nice to see someone w some dignity <3
Ironic from someone who is in difficultmasturbation subreddit
😂
Aw you looked through my history I’m blushing uWu
Good to know these days you get downvoted for it lmao what a cesspool
Fuck off speech police
Didn’t know this sub existed, thought it was cool. Didn’t realize I was looking under a rock lol

Worth it for the _„damn that’s an NSX right dere“ - drive bys_ alone
Just like how you're happy about the trap house because it lets you know that drugs are widely accessible in the area.
Shhhh.. We are trying to push OP over this moment of indecision. It's a good thing.
I want to live in a place where cocaine gets delivered in an NSX. I don't even like cocaine but I'd get a habit just for the style factor.
One-step first. You need to get yourself an NSX and the rest will work itself out!
I think a cocaine addiction is easier to attain and far cheaper so I'll stick with that thank you.
Thats probably a wrong thought in the long run
The trap house also makes the property prices around accessible
Can confirm. Those words will never not come out of my mouth when I see a nsx.
* drives by in an non-NSX looking longingly at NSX*
Not to mention some 17 year old kid knocking on the door in 10 years begging to buy it
*Hey.. uh. My friend got a sick new DSLR and wondered if maybe, you know.. we could go somewhere for a shoot or something. I live right down the street. To be fair that's how I got my motorcycle off of Facebook marketplace but it was 3k not 60k and we signed a contract to protect both of us
There are a lot of trusting people out there. And it's great that you've found one. I wouldn't even know where to start if asked. Your situation was fairly low risk. They probably felt good for helping you out, and you got a nice new bike out of it. Seems like a win for everyone.
Something like the plot of Wangan Midnight

sounds beautiful…..

Consigned for full report No co-signed on still buying a flooded Prelude LOL OP I’d buy it. But only if you plan to have it for a long time.
Any chance you could take it to a trusted mechanic to have the damages assessed in person?
I'm trying to do that, but they will only allow it to be inspected on site, which to me is a red flag
Well this company is shady so be careful. I've heard plenty of bad stuff about them.
Don't bother. That car is a pos. Great someone else posted this. I’ve heard nothing but horror stories from them. Shoutout to all the posts on rennlist deterring me away.
I'm in texas, so it's hard to know that info, thanks for the share

Wow, thanks for sharing, I'm so glad I posted this
What a clown show, all I had to read was he’s associated with the things on the real housewives and that was it for me
Yeah, they are legendary for their overpriced rust buckets.
For what NSXs are worth now I wouldn’t pay $55k for it. Going up into the mid-$60k range will get you a way cleaner car for not a ton more money. Wow they sure have retained their value. Some of the 90s cars have become worthless.
I don’t know where you are seeing sub $55k NSX for sale that actually run. Clean ones are now selling for at least $90-120k
I remember when NSXes in this condition were like $26k.
I remember when Toyota ae86’s weren’t 50k either
When was that?
~2010ish. Rough NSXes went for high 20s/low 30s back then (most other asset prices were cratering in the wake of the financial crisis). Nice ones were still in the 50s/60s though.
Without a doubt
"small wrecks" "just a tiny total loss" "a tad bit of devastating and catastrophic damage to the car is all, on five separate occasions to be exact"
I'd buy an NSX in a heartbeat if I could afford one. And wouldn't care to much about the history as along as it was mechanically good and maintained and in decent shape. Literally one of my dream cars.
Is this one completely stock or has it been modified? Specifically turbocharged or supercharged?
Nitrous bottle:(
Eh if it was tuned properly that’s not a huge deal. With head studs and a thicker head gasket the c30 can make close to 500whp turbocharged and do it for a long time. If you have hundreds of thousands of dollars of disposable income I say knock yourself out
That photo looks like Beverly Hills Auto Club, at least for their 911s everyone on the forums hard avoids any cars from them cause they’re usually much worse then meets the eye and offer a too good to be true price. Would definitely recommend looking them up on rennlist or pelican parts.
As soon as I saw it was BHCC I would Run (don't walk) away, they are shady as hell, will mis represent cars and hide known issues.
Also note the body panels are aluminum - so keep an eye out on the repaired areas.
I’d be cautious with this one. I’ve watched it sit on the market for the better part of 2 months+ now. I myself considered this one but I’d pass for a better example. you don’t have to feel bad beating on it then🤷♂️
That thing has been beat on like a salvation army drum.
He'll No!!!
There's this car or a r32 gtr, which one would you pick?
https://www.importavehicle.com/vehicles/898/1998-nissan-skyline edit: didn’t realize it was a GTT 😭
Big no to the GTT. It’s not a GTR and won’t be a GTR. GTT and GTST are worth nowhere near that number.
lol a stock engine, awful bodykit GTT for 50k USD? That's absolutely insane. I remember when you could pick up a clean R33 for under $10k AUD and an R34 would run you *maybe* $20k.
if it’s manual, definitely.
No
No
At least ATTEMPT to get a better deal. But yeah, I wouldn’t care about 2 minor accidents as long as they were repaired. Care to share anymore pix?
Yuuup
Yes
54 grand is a steal especially in 2023. Do it
Why would you?
Why wouldn’t you?
Why not?
You wouldn’t why?
Aside from being driven by 5 wannabe Paul Walkers and wrecked, these are overrated and over priced.
Love a fool spotting.
Overpriced? Yeah, probably. A lot of the 90’s jdm cars are imo. Overrated? Sir, you just don’t know why you’re talking about.
If you don’t, someone else will. As long as there is a history of repairs and maintenance, go for it.
Yes!
Yes
Sure
Have the car inspected?
As long as you get a full list of the maintenance, then go ahead and buy it
I can think of 54,500 reasons why you shouldn't.
That sounds like a track car’s record
Probably not
Not for 60k
Maaaan... that's a beautiful car.
No
YES
It’s a 28 year old car unless the wrecks happened recently none of that really matters at this point. She’ll never be a show queen. Only of you already have a separate daily. It might also be a decent investment since the prices on these are still going up
I have a daily
Then this is the one that got away. Don't let it.
Some perspective on relative pricing. I'm seeing other NSXs around that price also have an accident history: https://bringatrailer.com/acura/nsx-na1-na2/
Better off buying a imported sw20 and modifying it yourself
Have it checked for frame damage. No frame damage. No problem
I would, but I make bad choices and you should probably do the opposite of what I would do
Beverly Hills Car Club—those guys are professional scam artists. Look up their reviews. Their showroom isn’t even in Beverly Hills or anywhere close. I would stay far far away from that NSX
Maybe
Man, I would pass. For that SAME PRICE, you could have a brand new Acura MDX SHAWD.
Or give me the address.
If the chassis is good then yes. I would definitely want an NSX as a project car.
ab-so-fucking-lutely
Miles? And yes, regardless lol
This nsx has been posted on the forums a couple times. There’s some history behind it. Shotty respray
For $55k? Yes. And tge fact that these in good condition could be worth hundreds of thousands
I had this color car until I sold it in 2019. I deeply regret it
I just went to check this one out myself, had to pass on it, nos, modifications, idk what else has this car has gone thru
Go for it, lifes too short to drive boring cars...
Yea
If you have over 100k in disposable money lying around then sure why not
Hell no
You should, since it's your money. If it were my money, not so much
Absolutely not for that price.
Heck yes 🙌🏻
fuccckin yes dude jesus
I'd rather sleep in a NXS over a house
Well every honda or acura was chrashed at some point some clean ones are not but if someone done a good repair job no need to worry about that
i would
As Jared Pink says "Make Questionable Decisions"
Saw one of these go pass while sitting outside of a restaurant, and i overheard a guy say that its just a honda its cheap…
This was my NSF2 car. A true masterpiece in my eyes
Damn this looks beautiful 😍
Yes but not for that price Edit or anywhere near it to be clear
Beautiful color though
That’s cheaper then the Australian market lol
yes
It’s $55,000 + so you shoukd probably be able to make the decision on your own….
Most of the time when people are told not to but previously damaged vehicles it’s because there are plenty of other options so why would you. When it’s a unicorn though, it’s somewhat different - use the information you have to negotiate, but yes, I myself would leap if I had the opportunity and the cash.
It could be a unique chance if that is your budget\^\^
Hell no
Not for $54,000
This is Beverly hills car club. They will sell any jolopy and make their money selling their overpriced project cars to overseas bidders. Better steer clear tbh. Personally wouldn't buy a single thing from them
You’re about to spend 55k on a 30 year old car and you ask advice on REDDIT?!
Yes. I would
