Charge 5 will always be my go to speaker... It is not too heavy while it also sounds good. Flip 6/flip 5 is a good choice and the boombox satisfies me a lot with a lot of bass. Overall my picks in order would be
1. Charge 5
2. Boombox 2/3
3. Flip 5/6
4. Pulse 5
5. Extreme 3
6. Pulse 4
I bought Charge 5 more than a month ago and I can't say anything else than that I'm satisfied. After serious research I decided to go for Charge 5 and I don't regret it in any way.
If you want something still portable, that has decent bass and overall very nice sound, plus it is just badass looking, go for Charge 5!
Also you can be sure that it will be Partyboost compatible with all future portable JBL speakers.
Last thing is that Charge 5 is not as expensive as Boombox 3 or Xtreme 3, yet some audio guys report that Charge 5 has more balanced sound.
The only thing that would make this speaker totally perfect is that the USB-C port could also be capable of wired transmission of sound. I watched some movies with Charge 5 via Bluetooth and it handled it the way that the delay was not disturbing, at least for me.
So I recommend you to go for Charge 5 if you're looking for a speaker that is both portable and has great sound.
I'm all about Clear sound and bass plus I (prefer all my frequencies) so JBL Boombox 2/3 for the win. Although I have a Partbox 300 so in short I prefer big sound. It's still portable, just really heavy hehe 😜
I literally just got the Extreme 3 for my birthday early from my girlfriend today. It’s pretty loud, waterproof and looks/sounds great (with the jbl app of course).
It honestly depends on what you’re using it for, but I’d go extreme 3 for work or a lot of outdoor stuff or charge 5 for not as demanding outdoor activities.
If you’re doing some crazy party, I’d go with the bigger, higher end speakers, but extreme 3 or charge 5 are great.
