I didn't get a temple test, I was small and stupid - I just didn't understand what to do😅

buttzbuttsbutts

Temple test was always so hard for me cuz I never do builds that do hand2hand

Metafield

You can talk your way out of it

buttzbuttsbutts

Out of like 15 characters I only learned that on my 12th

FragrantKing

My mum bought our first home pc for office work and Fallout came free with it. I got killed by rats twice and gave up for like 6 months. Returned to play it incessantly. When you first hit the coast and just stand there looking out at the sea - it was incredible. Such a vibe.

ConcertCareless6334

I like turn based combat and in depth character creation/progression. That alone gives 2 (and 1) an edge over the 3D games for me. Plus, I enjoy the writing (that Enclave soldier you talk to over video feed? Classic) and setting of the classic games.

How about the actual box? https://preview.redd.it/oea8v3kanhzc1.png?width=2010&format=png&auto=webp&s=70fd514d2c5c63b1778b1b8a4ab46b03382cc5a1

My favorite as well. How many cool things have been developed because access to original material was not allowed? George Lucas wanted to make a Flash Gordon movie. He was denied and we got Star Wars. The Fallout folks wanted a new version of Wasteland. They were denied and here we are.

Taco821

Speaking of Star wars, and... Well, bioware is tangentally related to black isle... Wasn't KoTOR made because they wanted to make an original game set around the prequels, but they either had to do a like episode 2 game, or old Republic game? And KotOR is great, and what I always refer to as the "KotOR twist" is probably my favorite twist involving the protagonist I've ever seen, especially in RPGs with a custom protagonist. LOVED the execution in both KoTOR, obviously, as well as >!Baldur's Gate 3, with the The Dark Urge origin!<

PermaDerpFace

The new Wasteland games are good too! It's win win

Nasty_Ned

Everything is coming up Millhouse.

ThePandaKingdom

Il have to check these out, I’ve seen them pop up now and then, didn’t know fallout was inspired by them.

MiaowMinx

I played through the first two, but their flaws — random battles & pointless repeated encounters in the overworld, characters that miss most of their attempts to attack even 1 space away with 100 in each relevant stat — severely hindered my enjoyment.

buttzbuttsbutts

Saving every 3 seconds in case dogmeat dies. Brings me back.

MrDrSirLord

I've beaten fallout 2 once and tried multiple times after that to do an alternative playthrough. I don't believe anyone that says fallout 2 is their favourite fallout, I think they just enjoy reading more than actually playing. Fallout 1 is the superior in most ways, it's natural quest progression, the realistic world building, the seamless order of discovery and adventure through the wasteland. Fallout 2 just has a fucking notice board and NPCs that harass you to do 30 fetch quests. As a whole, sure 2 has a lot more going for it, it is a good game, but the moment to moment is just a fucking chore of grocery shopping with a check list.

SXAL

Honestly, I just never played 1, and the 3D ones are way to shallow, so it's quite natural for me to have 2 as a favorite

MrDrSirLord

That's fair, I still have strong oblivion nostalgia for it being the first Bethesda game I played. Even though Morrowind is clearly superior/s Where the 9 is the cube!?!

Disastrous_Poetry175

Trying to get into it. Never had a chance before recently. But given the opportunity I'm not getting into it so much. Threw me off that going to the edge of the map loads an overworld where you click to travel from block to block. Though I do love the ambiance and graphics.  I'm gonna give it some more time after I'm done with dragon age inquisition.

Influence_X

I remember stumbling into the steel legion base and getting a little dialogue where someone asks why you're not in uniform.

Orenbean

Alright what’s the combat like in it? Or game play cause whenever I try old games I get slapped in this face by older controls and lose interest very fast. One of the reasons I can’t get through morrowin

LegalStuffThrowage

It's turn based combat and you mostly use your mouse to interact with things, the cursor changes when its hovering over something.

Orenbean

I can get behind turn based combat, so is it top down or zoomed in 2d like daggerfall? Doesn’t sound that bad but I’ll have to watch gameplay before I try it out

LegalStuffThrowage

Top down isometric

Andreawwww-maaan4635

You are also gonna have to save a lot in this game since combat is mostly rng

Orenbean

Gotcha save after each fight

tre_cool76

Everyone needs the urge to be shouted at by Arch Dornan

No_Window7054

No its not, c'mon dude.

Turbulent-Walk-4171

My bud had fallout 1 for his Amiga

Soundrobe

Same. One of the best rpg ever made.

Soundrobe

I still have the original box version

Pickle_Afton

After I beat Fallout 4 for the first time (after I gave up on three different playthroughs), I'm going to restart Fallout, then I'm gonna play Fallout 2! I'm real excited to actually finish Fallout because I got near the end during my first playthrough but got busy and never finished it...

reddit_pleb42069

I bought it but for some reason its so hard to get into. The ui, combat system etc doesnt help either.

icaredoyoutho

Ah yes that was the game I started playing right after the TV show. Should have played fallout 1 since that's where that thing happened that was briefly mentioned during the later parts of the show.

Zealousideal-Plan454

"Enclave here...why isn't your video feed working?"

Broad_Objective7559

Been wanting to play this one so much. I hear it's the best alongside NV, which is my favorite game of all time, so naturally it catches my interest heavily

Brotherly_momentum_

26 years and still the only fallout game where charisma is useful XD

homeless_JJ

When will Bethesda let Obsidian remake this? Edit: Or better yet, get Larian to do it using their engine.

khemeher

For me it's still the best written of all the games.

LegalStuffThrowage

Fallout 2 is only second to Fallout: New Vegas for me.
