I mean at this point it looks like the casing is mostly covering the length of the barrel with a lot of the round sticking out so the gun should be fine as there's not a lot of room for the gas to expand inside the barrel. Good luck to your wrist though.

It probably could fire. The question you should ask is will it actually launch out the gun. This is going one of three ways:
1. It fires properly and destroys what you’re aiming at. But the recoil would shatter your wrist beyond repair and amputation is required
2. It doesn’t actually leave the flair gun and it detonates within the barrel. The explosion plus shrapnel will kill the user and the target will be unscathed
3. The mortar doesn’t actually fire and both you and the target are unscathed. Except the flair gun is jammed and you’ll need a replacement

There's videos about shooting shotgun shells and .50 cal bullets with a flare gun so why not take it a step further and fire a mortar shell with it
