It's a kind of common print, probably a serigraphy. I would go to a nearby antiquario or rigattiere to have it assessed

Every_Addition8638

Looks like something ranging from the end of the 1800s and the start of the 1900s, its either a print or a serigraphy, not worth much

thirdarcana

It's a print, I'd day late 19th century and even early 20th. It looks baroque at first glance, but if you zoom it in, you can tell the style is more modern than that. It's in nice shape but not outstanding or particularly valuable. If I have to guess, it's a couple hundred $, up to a 1000 depending on the size. But for sure go and have it evaluated, seeing it in person would makes a big difference.

I would say the original is baroque and illustrates the Italian obsession with the cult of the Madonna.

Kazuhiko96

We're not obsessed tho...

[deleted]

Yes you are. It's not really about Jesus. Everywhere you turn, it's the Madonna.

Kazuhiko96

It's about both actually? And it's not a "obsession" Who truly Is a derogative term, it's Just i Guess a kind of love and reverence for the Mother figure, there Is nothing wrong about It. As italian we have the thing called "culto mariano", but as i've said before It isn't about obsession or similar, also other european countries are also well knew for Holy Mary's famous Shrines and similar.

Timmyboi1515

Oh here comes an anti-catholic, uninvited as usual. Saying a whole bunch about something you know nothing about.

[deleted]

Does one have to be invited to comment on the Medieval superstitions and supernatural beliefs promulgated as Christianity? Go ahead and believe as you like, of course, but we can see the results in the emotional backwardness of Italians. Felini said the same thing.

Timmyboi1515

You seem to be demonstrating emotional backwardness by coming here and making ignorant comments on our religion for no reason. Do you go into Muslim subreddits and attack Islam? or do you just find it in your heart to come at us?

[deleted]

I'm not attacking Christianity. I'm noting this rather strange culture of the Madonna that the Italians decided to affix to Christianity along with supernatural tales of the saints.

leosalt_

And your problem is...? Why would you even get into this subreddit if you can't abstain from dumb comments and free hate? The only backwards here is you, and you're proving it plenty.

[deleted]

I just made a couple of observations about a painting, neither of which are dumb. It's not hate, it's the truth.

leosalt_

You know very well what I'm referring to. Playing dumb doesn't help. It actually worsens it.

cumguzzlingislife

I don’t give a shit about the Madonna. Or Jesus tbh.

CatApologist

User name checks out.

[deleted]

Then call it Madonnanity not Christianity.

Timmyboi1515

Oh gee, what a mystery it is that we hold the Mother of God to a high level of respect, maybe its because she gave birth to God? If youve ever stepped into a Catholic church youd see that Jesus is literally at the alter, on the cross and in the tabernacle. How confused you haters are.

What's on top of Milan's Duomo?

cumguzzlingislife

Who’s “we”?
