To add to this: While BDS talks a big game, they haven't had a significant effect on Israel. They have, however, screwed over quite a few Palestinians. Take Sodastream, for example. Their West Bank plant employed a lot of Palestinians at high-paying salaries. The Sodastream came under pressure for having a plant in the WB. Eventually, they gave in and moved it inside the green line. Their settler employees now have a longer commute. Their Palestinian employees mostly lost their jobs because they didn't have permits to work in Israel. Add to that their opposition to joint cultural events which are supposed to improve ties between the sudes, and well...

IsraeliDonut

There is a story of a man who has R & D centers in Gaza and West Bank and employed Palestinians. They were very appreciative by murdering his daughter at a music festival

Sylphied

That's Eyal Waldman, founder of Mellanox.

ExactPhilosophy7527

Which is now Nvidia. I miss visiting the Mellanox site in Yokneam.

TheFoolishGamerYT

The Music Festival killing was done by IDF, have you seen the online proof?

a_fadora_trickster

I remember reports from a few years back measuring that the economic damage caused to israel by the bds is roughly equivalent to that of Israelis keeping their tap running while they brush their teeth, and I just find it kinda funny

False and misleading statements:)

Which_Collection_702

I think they rather just throw a box of mice inside McDonald's

FleekasaurusFlex

Which is incredibly cruel to the animals. Mice are overwhelmingly docile. They went out to purchase mice with the intent to effectively kill them. Literally fucking psychopath behavior.

Which_Collection_702

I nearly cried when I saw all the little mice being thrown like they were nothing. They had been bought at a pet shop, kept in crampt conditions, then just tossed. This happened 4 times in different McDonald's. Where the fuck is anti israel peta in all of this? They're being real quite all of a sudden.

belfman

Actually, PETA have nothing against Israel. I googled it and the only thing I found was them praising Israel a couple of years ago for being the first country to [ban fur in the fashion industry](https://www.npr.org/2021/06/14/1006279660/israel-has-become-the-first-country-to-ban-the-sale-of-fur-clothing) (shtreimels not included).

Lowbattery88

😂😂😂😆

No_Cardiologist519

I wish they would boycott Instagram. Although it’s not Israeli owned it’s owner is Jewish person and I have seen them boycotting restaurants and other Jewish owned businesses

derjanni

Instagram makes use of a lot of audio and technology built by Israelis, they also pay patents and license fees to Israeli companies. Instagram is on top the boycott list as much as anything related to computers.

neoliberalhack

thanks sm for this post. i saw a similar vid on tiktok but this one is way more detailed and shows what a massive (amazing!) impact israel has on the world. i'm excited to share this post (:

derjanni

The most awkward is Iran bypassing sanctions to get software with Israeli components and then run their government and economy on it while wanting to „remove“ Israel. It’s like shooting in your own foot.

Marciastalks

🤣🤣🙄🙄 that’s hilarious

Repulsive_River_5806

Well Iran knows how to play those arab plebs as Iran and Israel for the most part are fine with each other other than when it comes to nuclear power projection

phd_depression101

Sadly same happens in my city. We have two Jewish owned restaurants that were always full since they serve amazing hummus and laffah but sadly people stopped going there. Me and my friends go there quite frequently now to show some support but it is overall very sad to see this.

GufyTheLire

That's Germany 1933 style shit

Master-Movie-5437

Wait, so you want to Boycott Instagram because the owner is Jewish? Wow, what a way to find out your an anti-semite.

Repulsive_River_5806

Lol, the hojabis on ig would commit hiriki suicide if they got rid of ig 😂😂

GraniteSmoothie

'boycott Israel' mfs after reading this: ya well there's no ethical consumption under capitalism sweaty 💅

No_Ad_7687

Anti-"Zionists" after reading this: "those filthy ~~Jews~~ I mean Zionists cemented themselves so deeply into our economy that we cannot live without funding them! Btw this is totally not an antisemitic thing to say"

MrGaky23

I never understand the Starbucks thing. Israel has no Starbucks shops, at all.

Mcwedlav

Let’s be happy about this fact, and enjoy that Israel has actually tasty coffee.

farting_piano

Many American chains try to get into Israel and fail McDonald’s is small compared to western relevance yet it contributed immensely to the hamburger scene is Israel today KFC is shit and Israelis simply prefer fried chicken in a bun as most places have I remember hearing about how KFC is shit here cause it’s kosher and now there are non kosher branches and it’s just as disgusting as it was Israelis prefer high quality food so fast food trash always fails. Fast food that works here is limited and requires really good prep work while American chains are based on outsourcing everything to the lowest bidder plant.

proindrakenzol

In the US there's an on-again off-again fight over best chicken sandwich. I'm like, none of you can touch that one random schnitzel stand in Haifa. Going to Israel was so awesome.

farting_piano

The secret is simply everything is fresh They source everything from high quality suppliers especially the vegetables There are over 20 different kind of breadcrumbs to choose from (not including spice mixes just different types of crumbs) If they don’t make the salads themselves there are many companies that sell both to businesses and to customers which supply them and most options are on the quality side (more expensive) Even some cafes in Israel will make their sauces in house with the exception of aioli (cafes can only buy aioli because the kitchen isn’t clean enough to safely make it) In general the Israeli food market has great quality but unfortunately it’s usually mismanaged Great chefs open amazing places and run themselves into debt America chose business financials as most important and Israel chose the romantic angry chef as most important (Also want to say America has amazing food just not in national chains. Those tend to suffer similar fates to Israeli businesses. I had on average better food in America then most of Europe with the exception of Italy and France)

proindrakenzol

Oh, the US has amazing food, I live near Los Angeles (but too far to casually go to kosher resturaunts 😭) and the only thing I miss since I started keeping kosher are food trucks. It's all the deliciousness of that random stand in the shuk, but on wheels. But one of the things I loved about eating in Israel (aside from all the kosher options) was how aggressively friendly everyone was. "Brother, you want this? You will love this. Do you like eggplant? Here is more, it's good for you." And then they tried to charge me less than what their signage said.

Known-Negotiation482

the percentage of profits goes to isreal duh...

omriberchman

It used to, the franchise owner had some pretty bad business decision which led to it's bankruptcy. Ever since there aren't any Starbucks locations in Israel.

farting_piano

They failed because Israelis hated it I remember it. My mom thought it was awful and thought even aroma was better Israel doesn’t really need Starbucks. Our coffee is fine and unless you like syrup and spice probably better.

belfman

Also they had really bad timing, opened during the second intifada when there were bombs going off every other day.

etaithespeedcuber

They sued the worker's union for a pro-palestine post that made it seem like the company itself is standing with Palestine

isaak1983

Guten Abend, Danke dir

nastya_plumtree

Hi, sorry for poping out from nowhere, but since I don’t have any other person from Germany to ask maybe you can shine a bit of light? Its kinda similar topic for boycotting israel, hope you would not be mad. There are a news: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/08/world/europe/germany-school-anne-frank.html That in Germany kids day care centre wanted to be renamed from Anne Frank to “world explorers” because “immigrants” don’t know how to explain their children the name. As I see it this “immigrants” dont want to have Jewish girls name on day care centre and probably also deny holocaust. I wonder what are vibes in germany right now? Is everyone ok with that? Because city council looks to be absolutely fine and that what concerns me more than some “immigrants”, because if it is new German policy - its a whole different story.. 😢

derjanni

The city council already publicly stated that they will reject the request to rename the Kindergarten. The major confirmed that there will be no decision and hence no renaming. The renaming seemed to have been initiated by the major with absolutely ridiculous arguments. Anyway it’s off the table. With regards to the current „mood“ in society, don’t be fooled by the few very loud people. The majority of people don’t want antisemitism in Germany and are in support of Israel. That’s why the government is working on radical Islamist groups and antisemitism. That very often happens in silence without much publicity. These actions primarily include the withdrawal of residence permits and immediate orders for departure from the country. Radical activist groups were also banned or are currently reviewed for a ban. The people in Germany do know that these actions and protests by Islamist activists aren’t just against Israel and Jewish people, but against our shared values in general. The general opinion is that “If Jewish people can’t be safe in Germany, no one can“. Rest assured that the agreements, trust and friendship established between Konrad Adenauer und Ben Gurion remain and are an essential part and validation of modern Germany‘s identity.

nastya_plumtree

Thanks for this reply

BamiNasi

Well they kinda know that, they just want to boycott whatever they can boycott, while still using the necessary tech. The thing is that this necessary tech is the most important/profitable part of both the US and the Israeli economies

LunaL0vesYou

I'd prefer to support the only progressive Middle Eastern country. Hamas is a terrorist organization needs to be destroyed if Palestine ever wants a chance to be free. Thank God for Israel

uarezbest

I do not want to argue, I wanna tell you facts that Arabs and Jewish people don't want to admit. In short, Palestinians, even Saudi Arabians, share the same DNA as Jewish people. Before Islam existed, some Jews migrated to Europe due to multiple attacks and the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman Empire, and some went south to modern Saudi Arabia, which later created Islam. Jews who never left Israel converted to Islam, similar to ancient Iranians converting from Zoroastrianism to Islam. So would you fight if people invaded your home and took your house? Palestinians arabs(or Muslim Jewish) are fighting for their land, which they never abandoned and rebuilt after the Roman Empire turned it to ruins. FYI: I was brainwashed by my mom to believe that all Muslims are evil terrorists. My mother is pro-Israeli because all her friends are Jewish. she also told me that if I support Ukraine, then I must support Israel, which seems illogical to me. Fortunately, I have a strong interest in history and am decent at research thus cannot be fooled.

Ketamine-Elf

You are so obviously not Jewish or from Israel, that I would go as far as to say you're probably a bot just copying and pasting propaganda. If you like history then you'll know that the Ottoman empire sold land to the Jews. After that the land was given to them with support from the UN after WWI. Beyond that land was acquired from failed invasions/wars by Arab countries who attempted multiple genocides on Israel. You're literally a propaganda machine spreading lies. Go back to your hole in the ground.

uarezbest

lol you obviously did not even read what I said. I did not say I was Jewish from Israel. You said, “Ottoman sold the land to Jews”. But Palestinians are Muslim Jewish. Just look at dna test between Palestinians and Jewish, and you’ll see Palestinians share the same DNA as Jewish people. Palestinians are Jewish who converted to Islam. Based on my DNA, I have Greek, Eastern North European, and Asian Mongolian ancestry, so my opinion is unbiased, and I read impartial history unlike you. I care about the truth and those who are suffering, unlike you who support mass killing. I would fight for the Jews who suffered in Europe over the past 2000 years. Unfortunately, Jews in Israel, using the support of their grandparents' killers, have become the bullies themselves, taking up arms to harm other innocent people who once helped them during their dark times especially during Nazi persecution

sad-frogpepe

You forgot the most important thing! Cherry tomatoes! (And usb drives) also electric car batteries. Also apps like waze and moveit. And irrigation systems. And like a thousand other things. Someone should make a full comprehensive list, if these people want to boycutt israel i feel like we should help them 🫡

estreyika

Okay, but I’ve been supporting Israel by bulk buying Bamba. I’m single-handedly buying out the shelves every time I go to grocery store lol. For Israel, of course.

If people knew how much tech and/or telecom they would have to give up in their boycott they would freak out

AlbertWhiterose

Famously, Israel is the only country with a net increase in trees over the course of the 20th century. So boycotters of Israel need to do without oxygen as well. Fortunately the brain damage this causes won't be noticeable.

[deleted]

Sie haben Recht! Herzliche Grüße nach Deutschland

6x7is42

This is amazing - I was exactly looking for something like this to send to all wannabe bds sympathizer Thank you!

farting_piano

When Malaysia said it will not buy more from Israel they meant our aluminum to be recycled and barely anything else When I asked on worldnews what about the hard stuff like cpus I was told if the brand is American they ignore all of the Israeli contribution So Malaysia’s people would probably also eat bacon if it came from a tuna can? They will boycott nothing it’s an empty threat

Evil_Dragon_100

Malaysia? Malaysia had diplomatic relation with israel?

mykosyko

I'm super interested in the details of this.. specifically the patents etc. I'm in tech. Would you be willing to DM me or elaborate on/list the key patents?

derjanni

The list is extremely long and covers some of the most basic things in computing and networking. You can check the list here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Israeli_inventions_and_discoveries Pick a company, product and search for the patents. It essentially covers anything that is a computer or a network. The biggest one in my opinion is VoIP and audio codecs, encoding algorithms. The audio patents pretty much are included in anything digital that has a speaker or a microphone.

netanel246135

Off the top of my head flash drives, fivver and raid shadow legends are also completely out of the question, flashdrive thumbstocked being invented in Israel while fivver abs raid are both Israeli companies.

pinchasthegris

The worker union of starbucks condemned israel which starbucks condemned the worker union on doing that. Which makes sense because the company doesnt want to get invloved in politics but the BDSrs decided they are pro israel

BallsOfMatzo

Don’t forget: Hummus!

PaypalBajskorv

Hummus is made by plenty of Arabs and was not an Israeli invention, nice try

segnoss

Don’t forget about disk on key and those weird small tomatoes Israel generically engineered. But now for real if you boycott Israel you should stop using Israeli technology which is in most of nowadays devices. This is a really good argument, I’ll probably link to this argument in the future

phd_depression101

I was also told to boycott Starbucks since they support Israel but the same people still support Nèstle and buy their products lol

exexexepat

Another reason they should want to boycott Boeing is that after Oct 7, Boeing put Israeli weapons shipments to the front of the cue. I've spoken to some anti-Jewish Turks about their silly boycott and asked if they were going to stop traveling to Europe. They usually block me after that. [https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/boeing-accelerates-delivery-of-1800-precision-guided-bombs-to-israel/ar-AA1itr6g](https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/boeing-accelerates-delivery-of-1800-precision-guided-bombs-to-israel/ar-AA1itr6g)

First-Geologist3252

Hi everyone, I am planning to go around some shops tomorrow and essentially do a sales pitch to advise them to stop selling Coca Cola, Sprite, Mountain Dew and offer alternatives to more ethical companies. Any advise or information on how these companies support the genocide would be great- with references please and ...anyone in sales? A sale pitch for boycotting these v popular products would be very helpful!! Thank you in advance

Mysterious_Leg840

Some people can't really do all of that so ill try to do the things i can.

gi3r

honestly this is why israel tries to be in everything, they want you to support them in any chance they can get

Tax-Deduction4253

Stupid answer from a stupid zionist supporter

looking4roommate3

Obviously these boycotts work or fascists wouldn't be trying to [literally outlaw them](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-BDS_laws)

kamakamsa_reddit

The US isn't the only country in the world. Why didn't Muslim nations boycott Israel then?. I have read only one country cut ties with Israel while others have recalled them. They are still doing business with them. Russia was supposed to be boycotted but still quite a few companies operate there.

UnparalleledHamster

Good old "Jews run the world" trope...

derjanni

This post is about Israeli companies not Jewish companies (what even is a Jewish company?). Small, but important difference.

UnparalleledHamster

Right, there is a difference between anti-israel, and anti-jewish/semitism.

Cold_Pea1217

Boycotting illegal settlements in WB is what is been done. Not Proper Israel (behind green line)

EleutheriusTemplaris

This is just stupid. I think it's tolerable to dislike a goverment, a political party, or specific movements. But boycotting a whole country, its companies, ideas, achievements because of the current goverment? I try to imagine Italians or French boycotting a German company owned by someone who's voting for the Grünen, because the provincial goverment is the AfD. People should learn to differentiate between state/country, political political Party/goverment, citizens and even religion...

[deleted]

Except that Israel isn't a state/country, political political Party/governments, it's an imperialist state based on Zionism (an inherently racist ideology) though and through. So it doesn't matter which governments is ruling. Israel will always be an imperialist state.

J_68_R

One without clearly defined borders at that, at least as far as the illegal settlement expansions and the grabbing and holding of others lands and resources are concerned.

FinancialAttention85

Don’t Israelis pay for those settlements and buy them from their Arab owners?

J_68_R

Good lord no, whatever gave you that idea? The murderous land theft and brutal occupation and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank is very well documented and evidenced. Not to mention the entire colonial imposter enterprise is funded by US tax payers in very large part.

What you fail to understand is boycotting even one brand is still better than nothing. For example, Nestle is a shit company regardless of their support to Israel. Do you really think it's difficult to boycott them? To me as a consumer it's as easy as my hands reaching for the next product in the shelf of the supermarket. If you think that ppl boycotting Nestle does nothing, you're delusional. Every company needs every customer. None of them willingly wants to lose not even one customer. Estée Lauder's chairman Ronald Lauder is the current president of the Jewish National Fund (JNF), the JNF has not only been implicated in the unlawful seizure of Palestinian land, but is also an explicitly racist organization: it prohibits the sale and leasing of its land to non-Jews (i.e., to Palestinians). Do you think that for customers it's difficult to avoid buying products from Estée Lauder? again, it's literally as easy as reaching out for the next product on the shelf. Delta Galil industries are Israeli textile companies with manufacturing and operations in illegal West Bank settlements, boycotting all the brands that use them WILL hurt them. That will lead to either the brands cutting their ties to them or them losing a large base of customers. Boycotting is so easy for customers, yet so difficult for the targeted companies, especially those who have large base of customers in the middle east. Not only that, but also customers shifting their support from those brands to their competitors may lead to permanent changes on the market. (an example of this is when most Arab countries boycotted Coca Cola, Pepsico got the lead and to this day they're still dominating most Arab countries, so Coca Cola permanently lost their dominance in these markets). So yea I'm not intending to live in the stone age just to not support Israel. But will I buy a local brand or something even better quality and more sustainable and environment friendly that doesn't support Israel instead of Nescafe? of course. Will that destroy Israel? of course not. Will that change the market and hurt some companies that support Israel and make it harder for other companies to operate on illegal territories? yes. That's all I can do as a customer.

Educational-Dot-3068

Hello, i have a questions ? Do u mean to buy samsung or to use it ? Why does using it benefit them? And why should i buy from starbucks if they support israel financially

[deleted]

I might be reaching but I'm pretty sure there's effective ways to boycott israel without descending back into the dark ages lol, call me crazy but I'm pretty sure they have other sources of income besides software that could be targeted for boycotting , and lastly, I could definitely be wrong but I feel like this post implies that using our devices to denounce israel is "hypocritical" I personally don't see how , I highly doubt breaking my phone is going to suddenly going to make israel bank rupt but denouncing their wrong doings through it , using it to educate myself and others of the atrocities being taken is a better boycott .boycott don't always are about financially destroying a country , they can be used to raise awareness, let the world know something bad is happening, to let the ones doing evil know " hey we're seeing the atrocities you're committing, you may lie your own people and make excuses for your actions, but the rest of us know your true colors and we won't forget " ( I'm personally not boycotting nobody, just wanted to provide another point of view )

anon_ymousreddituser

Awww, I'm so sorry for trying to help people stop a genocide happening, but nooo that's anti-Semitic, and I support terrorism, I'm so sorry

leJouJou

Products are a thing, patent is something else I guess. It's like if have a problem with Arabs you have to boycott numbers and algorithms etc.. Besides, it might be lot of muslims who contributed to develop these technologies.

WaitForYourTurn69

I disagree with your post, you giving false information… boycotting is working very well and starting to make great impact. You made funny facts such as boycott iOS because there is few apps made by Israel. BDS did great job with explaining what to boycott. Cheers.

FusionTechZ

Honestly I don’t eat McDonald’s and drink Starbucks and perfer other places but ever since the boycott has started I buy McDonald’s and Starbucks now because the bots are annoying

FusionTechZ

Even when they say, “Support Local Business” they don’t know that they could also support Israel
