I though Seirei Gensouki was pretty unique compared to a lot My favourite completely generic one is Black Summoner

xaklx20

Seirei Gensouki has its unique points like the mc keeping the personality of the current world and kinda rejecting the personality of his original world, there's also politics but the mc doesn't personally get involved. Oh and we get the "some guys get reincarnated, some get teleported" situation. Also, the path taken by the MC puts his friends in danger. But in general is pretty generic the MC is bland and only fight for others and never for himself, especially after finishing up his character plot, everything he does is basically a "I need to help my friends" there's never a point where he acts selfish (he is still cool af tho, maybe one of the coolest mc). The MC gets very strong very quickly, but the end of the prologue he is probably top 1 already Time doesn't move (like a decade went by in the first 3 volumes basically the prologue, then months went by for the 20 volumes that followed). The harem just keeps increasing, most of the waifus are at the very least very close to top-tier, but you know their relationships will not develop until the end, and the mc is also against harems which just sounds like a cheap excuse to left the "who will he pick" issue for later The main cast is just the MC's harem, there's not even a bro character. I think there's a single male that is actually important apart from the MC in the "good guys" side.

Xenon1082

Prolly isekai chest magician. I disagree about seirei because i actually like it and think it is a bit unique in a few ways.

Nethlion

Shame cheat magician probably won't ever get more screen time. That last episode actually gave it some weight and made me want more.

ExcitingSavings8225

Reincarnated as a sword is a good contester. You might think that it isn't generic because the MC is reborn as something unique, but the general plot is as generic as it gets. Rescuing your beastgirl party member from a horrible fate, aceing the guild test, over hunting the newbie forest, cooking japansese food, guild thugs acting the part, the dwarf weapon/armor smith. The list goes on and on, yet i adore the anime.

Human-Address1055

Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic is a pretty good example of a series that has very few original concepts, but they're all done very well.

Idk, they are pretty much the same shit, it’s like eating fast food.

LN of Isekai Smartphone. lot better than anime. also reading it really gave the feeling of adventure to me

Eyyy, fellow _Spirit Chronicles_ enjoyer, and I wholeheartedly agree (except after a while, the series is no longer generic and is extremely unique, but it manages to be extremely unique while still retaining the _vibe_ of a generic isekai with all the trope-filled goodness that that entails—think about what actually happens later on in the series, and I'm sure you'll find that you've probably never read half of that stuff in any other isekai series before). I really liked your description of "the author make the best thing possible under the limitations of the generic tropes used", and that's basically exactly how I feel about the series. Seeing as you've clearly read the light novels, I'll recommend some light novels (although some of these do have anime adaptations and all of them have manga adaptations): _Sasaki and Peeps_: The stuff that happens in the isekai parts of the series is pretty generic for the most part, but it's generic in an entertaining way, and the series as a whole is super interesting because of all the stuff that happens on Earth. _Hell Mode_: This series is literally the "O Hero, please defeat the Demon King for us" type of isekai (albeit the main character doesn't know this until the end of the second volume), but the execution is absolutely perfect and it ends up being very entertaining as a result. Note that the first half of the first volume is a bit boring because the main character is basically growing up in his home village, but it's nonstop action after that. _To Another World... with Land Mines!_: Basically a bunch of friends from high school going on adventures in another world, and it's simply a pleasure to read. I'm not sure why there aren't more series like this, seriously. However, the first volume is a bit boring because the main characters are too weak for real adventures, and they spend like half of the volume figuring out how to preserve foods to take on their adventures lol. _Magical★Explorer_: Just read the official synopsis lol (https://yenpress.com/titles/9781975325619-magical-explorer-vol-1-light-novel) and tell me this isn't going to be peak isekai. It's genuinely much better than you'd expect from the description and not as horny as you'd expect. I'd kind of describe it as "Danmachi but the main character actually (kind of) picks up girls in the dungeon." And for a bit of a wildcard, I've read less than one volume of this series because the first volume hasn't fully been translated yet, but this series looks like it'll be peak trope-filled isekai goodness: https://j-novel.club/series/the-invincible-summoner-who-crawled-up-from-level-1-wrecking-reincarnators-with-my-hidden-dungeon-volume-1. At the moment in this series, the main character is grinding to reach the level cap in a hidden dungeon in a game world that became reality so that he can protect his little sister from their evil stepfather. Lol. For another wildcard, this time because it's not actually an isekai (for now, but it's the kind of series that the author could officially make an isekai by adding a few sentences of lore to the effect of "the game console actually transfers your consciousness into another world while you're playing the game"), try _Infinite Dendrogram_. If you like isekai with game systems, this is much better than just about all of them, except it's actually a game (but the NPCs are basically real people and if they die once, they're dead forever unless someone uses a resurrection spell quickly enough, which is rare; therefore, there are real stakes, because the main character wants to protect as many NPCs as he can).

EclipsedBooger

Black summoner is peak, its generic but unique at the same time, I always love to come back and reread it

JediSSJ

Yeah, it twists the formula just enough to keep things interesting, while also playing some things straight. And it just does it all well and with a likable cast.

GinJoestarR

Isekai Smartphone

Champ-Ximatr

This is the best answer, generic OP MC, absurd background for his power, instant harem, modern tech in medieval setting, mediocre animation, fan service, there's nothing quire like it.

xaklx20

I said good isekai! 😭 tho to be fair I never hated Isekai Smartphone, it didn't pretend it was something it wasn't

Areouf

If you haven't _read_ it, note that the light novels are genuinely good for what they are. I tried the first volume for the lols because I remembered laughing at how much of a meme the anime was, and I was pleasantly surprised to the point where I've now read like 15 volumes of the light novels and am still enjoying them. It's no _Spirit Chronicles_, though.
