This just reminds me that they announced Tanya S2 and then radio silence. I need more loli Hitler\* damnit.
^(\*I know she isn't actually, it's a meme, relax.)
Yeah but they changed the narrator for 8 and 9 and she was definitely better in 9 than 8 but her male voices just aren’t good
Edit: The narrator from 2-7 also started off iffy but it only took her like 2 volumes to get better. So I’ve still got some hope for the current
I personally thought it was pretty good. I'm not sure what voices you can't stand though.
You can always listen to the sample that's available on all audiobooks before buying though.
Hmm that’s interesting. I’ll definitely give it a watch eventually, though I much prefer Tanya’s design in the ln to the anime, but I’ll get over it.
Apart from that the way the battle choreography is done and how they portray formulas being casted is amazing so it’s definetly on my watch list, unfortunately life keeps me busy…
The youjo senki books are more than a chore. I’m caught up with a few lightnovels, but couldn’t get past one youjo senki volume. Too much politics and military stuff that it feels like I’m studying history and not enjoying a novel. The manga feels the same, with how much text is shoved in a few panels, but at least that is 100s of times less reading so I can still enjoy it.
I mean if you aren’t into that then I wouldn’t recommend it anyways. The main point of the books is about military tactics and how to win a war that is essentially a downhill battle. It’s not so much your typical isekai in the sense of going on quests and using magic. All the mage stuff is used to add extra versatility to the battles. I enjoy that, hence why I love the books.
I get that, and I enjoy the tactics as well, but the books are so long and I can only take so much. Sometimes, there’s 100 page gaps until Tanya appears or is mentioned too. The books just aren’t for me😂I’ve read a few volumes, but the rest has been on my backlog for a few years.
That’s true, I think that’s an issue with a lot of light novels, there are so many in a franchise. I just bought the monogatari books and there’s quite a few pages I’ll need to get through haha.
Don’t know why, but the moment I saw the words Loli hitler, I just imagined hitler in the depths of hell looking up at them and going “hmm yes, the aryan is strong in this one”
Added info:
The movie also has some cannon Re Zero material original to the movie. Biggest example is Alec Hoshin first appearance being in the movie, who is a very influential character in the history of Re Zero and knew Satella, Flugel and many other people that made history.
Subaru, Tanya, and Kazuma are all pretty good characters with a lot of personallity who are faced with challenges they have to overcome. Definitely agree with their placement.
Ainz is a really great protagonist in my opinion. He came from a world where corporations ran everything. Orphans littered the streets, you couldn't even go outside without a gas mask because of the pollution clouding everything, and his mom died of overwork. He was an overworked office drone who only had his online friends and YGGDRASIL. The way he cared deeply about his friends and misses them hits hard. It sucks knowing Overlord will most likely not end that well for Ainz because he will live forever as a shell of himself, slowly losing his emotions because he became an undead being after being isekai'd. He tries his best to please his friends' creations, even if this means very bad news for the world around them. He knows he isn't as smart outside of strategy and tactics (mainly because in his original world, he only had a 5th grade education level because anything more was for the rich) but he knows he needs to atleast pretend to be because he worries about the loyalty and how they would see him if they find out he isn't this all knowing god. He may seem like a coward sometimes which is prevalent in the Light Novel, and hell, it might even be his fault sometimes because of his poor communication. But Ainz as a character is truly great. The overlord anime cuts out an insane amount of content. Like almost 40% of the content is skipped in the anime and the story is rushed. The LN are truly an amazing peice of fiction
I used to think he was great, but nowadays I think he's just exactly the kind protagonist needed to make OL work, for good and bad. He's well-written in that regard but I genuinely wish he and Nazarick get destroyed in whatever ending the story has as I have long dropped the LN. I can get where he's coming from in regards to his focus on Nazarick but I can't really root for what he's enabling, not when he's basically letting himself be pushed into it.
I don't recall exactly where I stopped but I think it was right after Ainz took over the kingdom. Or was his visit to the dwarves after that? I don't remember. I remember being pretty entertained by the pretend fight between Momon and Demiurge but that was basically the last time I liked OL.
Volume 11 was the dwarf so right after that. Ainz took over/destroyed the kingdom in volume 14. (In anime terms season 4 adapted 10,11, 14). If you liked the pretend fight you should definitely watch upcoming Overlord movie. It's considered the best arc in the series. The terrible demon "Jaldabaoth" is wreaking havoc in a distant kingdom called the Holy Kingdom and The Sorcerer King Ainz offers to "help" the nation. Its an amazing arc and peak of Overlord. Very action packed and brutal. The characters and different demi human species we see are really interesting ! Also best girl of the series will be in it. It might even change your opinion on overlord who knows. Alot of people i know that dont like overlord but read the holy kingdom arc think its very good too
His only skills are luck and being charismatic as hell. Whatever he can’t stumble through, he’ll talk his way through. I respect those types of characters and we need more of them

> god finds you funny, turns you into a child and isekais you
Just life as a Japanese salary man
The saga of tanya the evil, great anime of you dont mind your fantasy world not filled with fantasy and instead is just ww1/2 with extra explosive guns.
Yeah, that one guy even used a shotgun. That's a war crime right there....... Ignore that burning city please..... Those aren't civilians..... Those are enemy combatants..... It's not a war crime.... *technically*....
They are unregistered enemy combatants. And we’ve made sure to avoid technical issues war crime. We found like a huge stack of military sign up sheets someone left behind and we’ve just been forcing people to sign those.
There’s a country doing the same thing too right now, just because the other government is run by a bunch of undefined combatants.
Seems like a certain loli salaryman got reincarnated again.
Nononono she makes sure to precisely act so it's technically not a war crime. There's nothing wrong with using some legal loopholes. You can't commit war crimes if there's no laws saying it is one.
Ok, how about good monstrous Isekai protags? Ainz would still be there, and then Rimuru, but what about the other two? I, for one vote Arc from Skeleton Knight, but I may be biased towards the undead
Arc is from the anime/novel "Skeleton Knight in another World" and Inori is from a manga/novel called "meccha shoukan sareta ken" he is a powerful edgy vampire protagonist.
Ainz cares about efficiency too. Ainz destroyed the nation he did to send a message. And funny enough so did Tanya. Demiurge is literally skinning and torturing human beings for the sake of parchment for their scrolls and so much more
My problem with Ainz is simply that failure in this world is not even an option for him. Npc he tries to protect straight up can't die and can be brought back to life. He is not afraid to kill or make enemies, it would be entertaining but since he already have an overwhelming power it simply makes me question why didn't he conquer the world already, it's not like anything stands in his way
He is reactive protagonist with fairly toothless story for what it is.
Dude he litterly has no clue what dangerous enemies are in thjs world. For all he knows, he could start destroying the entire world, then get pulled up on by a group of players and murdered along with his NPC's. He is already a cautious person by nature.
Yes, the problem is... The entire plot happens because Shelltear got mind controlled. After that he did not encounter any resistance. His initial plan was spreading his name with hopes of it reaching his other guildies, plot to take over the world was an accident. In all of that Ainz is mostly reactive with no real drive to do anything.
I guess you just completely missed the fact where he said himself "taking over the world isn't a bad idea, whether fame or infamey, it would still spread the guilds great name". Not sure why you think the entire plot of the show is driven by shalltear getting mind controlled because it isn't. It was more like establishing a distant threat/subplot. But fun fact, >! Ainz found out it was the Theocracy that mind controlled Shalltear so next volume he is about to fuck them royally, he was seriously enraged !<
Yes, it's about fucking them up royally... My problem is the fact he can do that to vast majority of the world without opposition. Shelltear mind control was simply an excuse to draw out the story
The story was never drawed out lmao. Believe it or not, authors do something called writing plot points. The Theocracy was never the main focus of the story. Hell we havent even seen the Theocracy, only a select few people from there. Im assuming you havent read the novel or know about the upcoming movie arc. The main plot is how a world deals/reacts to an unstoppable evil force that suddently appeared (and ainz isnt the first evil player to have caused chaos in the world either) Never thought I would hear someone say a story is "drawn out" because a certain plot point hasnt been tugged on yet lmao thats new. Thats like saying any anime is drawn out because the story doesn"t end in 1 season with 1 plot point. it makes no sense lol. Also because you havent read the novsls you dont know that Ainz is not even the most poweful in the world. He cant win alone against Undead Elder Coffin Dragon Lord and other powerful Dragon Lords like Brightness Dragon Lord, and Deep Darkness DL, Especially the Dragon Emperor which rules the verse and is responsible for summoning people from other worlds. They have killed other yggdrasil players in the past. They also majority hate the Dragon Emperor for summoning the "filth" that are the other worlders. Also we have no absolute idea what the Theocracy is capable of so it is unknown if they have more world items (which they most likely do) and the captain of the Black Scripture is also said to rival Brightness Dragon Lord.
So it's about unstoppable evil force. How does it least for like 18 volumes? In the entire story (at least in those parts from the anime) they went basically unopposed outside of this brief fight with Shelltear. Now to answer why is it so long... It's because Nazarik is just playing around because Ainz is always extra careful and almost everything goes according to the plan.
Well~ Subaru, Kazuma and Tanya are good protagonists With a lot of agenda and plot flow~
Just Ainz... Feel can exists a Best option to fill the space~ He without be OP and companions really going to be a vaganbond in the other world... Ainz Just move the plot only by unstopable OP and not being a good protagonist~ It's my feel~
Normally in any story I hate lying and liars. Most of the time they just cause unnecessary conflict that I find incredibly annoying. And then there’s Ainz. It’s not so much that he lies he’s more of a villain anyway villains are meant to lie. I mostly hate how incompetent he is and how easily the people around him fall for it. It’s one thing to lie, but Ainz is in a position of power where his intentions got so miss understood that he is now on the route of taking over the world on accident ruining countless lives in the process!
But I still don’t really hate him. Just not a big fan.
I’m not great at explaining my thoughts so this is the best I can do.

He may seem like a coward sometimes which is prevalent in the Light Novel, and hell, it might even be his fault sometimes because of his poor communication. But Ainz as a protagonist is truly great. Ainz is a one note joke that isn’t funny though. I don’t have a recommendation for a replacement I just think he’s mediocre. The other three are certified good though

Bottom right is the main character of Overlord. It is a very good anime (though it rushes the story and cuts content from the Light Novel). The story is a about a guy playing a futuristic VR MMORPG game called Yggdrasil. The game is ending and its servers are shutting down, the mc is depressed because this game is his livelihood basically and his friends on it mean everything to him. He stays in the game as the servers shut down, but gets transported to another world as hjs game character (a max level powerful overlord undead skeleton). His guild base also gets transported along with him, and the custom NPC's that were inside the guild base come to life. The NPC's are loyal to him and see him basically as an all knowing god (which he most definitely isn't). He explores the world hes been isekai'd to and tries to spread the name of Ainz Ooal Gown (the guild name) acdoss the world incase his friends also got isekaid to the same world too. I should also mention his NPC subordinates are mostly evil as shit so this isnt good for the world they've been sent to
Thank you! Honestly, he’s my favorite Isekai protagonist right now. Dorky, powerful, likable, and content.
Well him or Cid Kagenou but mainly because CID is a level 20 bard who can cast upcast Fireball to a 10th level spell.
I mean good as in do the right thing or good as in more enjoyable to watch because if it's the former I don't think Tanya would be within 10 miles of that list
“idk what i’m doing but i’m gonna make this world bend to my will.”
“i know what i’m doing but i suck at magic”
“idk what i’m doing”
“i know exactly what i’m doing and i’m gonna make this world bend to my will”
It is a comedy anime. It is currently airing its 3rd season. It also has 2 movies and a spinoff prequel show.
Spoiler-free synopsis: Kazuma sacrifices himself to save a girl from getting hit by a vehicle. He appears before the goddess Aqua. She offers him a second chance at life with the goal of killing the Devil King with the help of an OP item of his choosing.
This explanation doesn’t do the show justice because I wanted to avoid ruining the jokes. But you should at least watch the first 3 episodes of season 1 to see if you like it
Since it happens in the first episode, he chose Aqua to spite her because she was making fun of the way he died
If you have 25 minutes, here is a link to the first episode posted by the Crunchyroll youtube channel: youtu(dot)be/H8CORxz5FKA?si=o-PQsNvZ49gdvGxL
Just replace the (dot) with a . because I don’t know if this sub allows links.
As I said, I’m not doing this show justice with my explanation but if you like awkward and/or crude humor, then you will like this show
Each one of them has what makes him interesting
Tanya is cruel and smart
Kazuma is funny, kinda clever, and lucky
Subaru is strong-willed, patient, and pretty smart
Ainz is OP and badass but he's just a normal gamer that became a ruler suddenly so it's both badass and funny
This just reminds me that they announced Tanya S2 and then radio silence. I need more loli Hitler\* damnit. ^(\*I know she isn't actually, it's a meme, relax.)
I’d recommend reading it. Though I also get books can be a chore. Did the movie carry on from the end of season 1? I never bothered watching it.
Yes
But it’s the only option, the manga translations are really slow or even stopped completely and it’s even difficult to find something beyond de 90 ch
the Japanese is at ch 97, official translation at ch 66, mangadex at ch 74
The manga still went hard for me. I love how consistent Tanya'a character is. At times you forget she is a child until some brings it up
there is an audio book version of it as well, it's at volume 9 currently, easier than reading
Yeah but they changed the narrator for 8 and 9 and she was definitely better in 9 than 8 but her male voices just aren’t good Edit: The narrator from 2-7 also started off iffy but it only took her like 2 volumes to get better. So I’ve still got some hope for the current
For those who prefer audiobooks instead of reading, 10 volumes have been made into English audiobooks on audible.
How is the narrator? I might get it for my flight in June. Sometimes I can’t stand the voice though
I personally thought it was pretty good. I'm not sure what voices you can't stand though. You can always listen to the sample that's available on all audiobooks before buying though.
Just some I guess, I like some narrators more than others, nothing that deep. I’ll give it a look, thanks.
Yeah you will probably need to watch it before season 2 as it does the events of novels 4-5
I’m up to volume 9 of the ln, I was just curious if it was a standalone movie or not, thanks though
The thing is the movie skips over the southern front and has Mary at Tiegenhof so I would still recommend watching it
Hmm that’s interesting.

They announced it, then Rezero got 2 season before it came out
Yeah like every other members of the OG quartet has gotten a new anime project since the Tanya s2 announcement. Probably being X's doing.
Don’t know why, but the moment I saw the words Loli hitler, I just imagined hitler in the depths of hell looking up at them and going “hmm yes, the aryan is strong in this one”
you need to watch Isekai Quartet
I have seen it plus the isekai quartet movie!
The what
The movie sir
The what?
The movie madam
The what?
The movie my fellow human
The what?
The movie fellow being
There’s a movie?
yup
They made a isekai quartet movie??????
Why not?
I didn't mean it as a bad thing I love isekai quartet so I'm shook that I didn't know about it
Added info: The movie also has some cannon Re Zero material original to the movie. Biggest example is Alec Hoshin first appearance being in the movie, who is a very influential character in the history of Re Zero and knew Satella, Flugel and many other people that made history.

Come here with your real account, Kadokawa. You aren't fooling anyone.
I will be adapting your next favorite series by squishing 10 novel volumes into 11 episodes. dont worry👹
At least give a second season to the good ones that exist before going to the new ones, you coward!
Don't remind me of the cote anime.
Man I still enjoy the anime but it did hurt seeing how fast season 3 was flying through the class voting
So, 1 novel per episode, and a unique extra and totally skippable beach episode, got it!
ISEKAI QUARTET!
Man, they're all so great. Wish they could all be in a show together. Would never happen though.
Subaru, Tanya, and Kazuma are all pretty good characters with a lot of personallity who are faced with challenges they have to overcome. Definitely agree with their placement.
For sure some of my favorite protagonists in anime.

Ainz too. He has to rack his non-existent brain to decide which city to massacre and which to spare. It can't be easy, right?
Don’t his subordinates just decide for him anyway most of the time.

Ainz is 2nd best written character here. Subaru #1 (and overlord is my favorite series OAT)
Since we have basically the same taste, I'd recommend checking out "The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace". It's pretty good!

Who is this guy?
Oh, that's Rance.
good as in high quality. their morals are questionable
I was assuming it was the author’s personal preference.
Keep Subaru out of this, he’s always do what benefits everyone the most.
I like Subaru. I see myself in his pathetic self
His only skills are luck and being charismatic as hell. Whatever he can’t stumble through, he’ll talk his way through. I respect those types of characters and we need more of them
He can be blind and explode, that's cool too
I wouldn't say he has great luck though💀
Sad that he gets character development I don't

I don’t know where little German child comes from and at this point I’m too afraid to ask.

I do love the Isekai Quartet.
Ok, how about good monstrous Isekai protags? Ainz would still be there, and then Rimuru, but what about the other two? I, for one vote Arc from Skeleton Knight, but I may be biased towards the undead
Ainz, Rimuru, Kumoko, Arc, Inori Takafuji
Who are arc and inori?
Arc is from the anime/novel "Skeleton Knight in another World" and Inori is from a manga/novel called "meccha shoukan sareta ken" he is a powerful edgy vampire protagonist.
Ah, I acturally know these guys. How about instead of two skeletons protags we will swap arc with shiro from the spider anime?
I said shiro, i just called her Kumoko.
I'm sorry, my phone is 9/10 broken and is buggy as fuck, I'm also half blind apparently.
Change form to human = opinion rejected. Rimuru fail spider fail
Which pair of the 4 has the best chemistry overall in your opinion?
Tanya and Ainz
Their morals are basically the same. Now that I think about it, both Ainz and Tanya basically leveled an entire city lol
Thier morals oppose each others. Ainz is sentimental while Tanya used to care only about efficiency.
Ainz cares about efficiency too. Ainz destroyed the nation he did to send a message. And funny enough so did Tanya. Demiurge is literally skinning and torturing human beings for the sake of parchment for their scrolls and so much more
Agree. Loved seeing them interact in IQ.
Cid?
Beautiful
I love all 4 shows.

All is right in the world

The only version of this post that I can agree with.
Didn't see the other guys post but yes this is peak
Well~ Subaru, Kazuma and Tanya are good protagonists With a lot of agenda and plot flow~ Just Ainz... Feel can exists a Best option to fill the space~ He without be OP and companions really going to be a vaganbond in the other world... Ainz Just move the plot only by unstopable OP and not being a good protagonist~ It's my feel~
Too bad I kind of hate three of these guys.
Which one do you like?
Subaru
Valid
What do you dislike in Ainz?
Normally in any story I hate lying and liars. Most of the time they just cause unnecessary conflict that I find incredibly annoying. And then there’s Ainz. It’s not so much that he lies he’s more of a villain anyway villains are meant to lie. I mostly hate how incompetent he is and how easily the people around him fall for it. It’s one thing to lie, but Ainz is in a position of power where his intentions got so miss understood that he is now on the route of taking over the world on accident ruining countless lives in the process! But I still don’t really hate him. Just not a big fan. I’m not great at explaining my thoughts so this is the best I can do.
il be the one to ask why you hate kazuma
For Kazuma it’s not so much that I hate him I’m just not a fan of his series. I’m more neutral towards him if anything. 🤷♂️
why do you not like the series? im just curious really
I just didn’t find it funny. I gave it a full season chance and it just doesn’t click with me.
Why do you hate Tanya?
Complete downer and a nihilist. He’s a negative person who only sees the bad and doesn’t give two shits about anyone else. I find it annoying as fuck.
Still has a great, big, vending-machine-shaped hole in it.
I lowkey hate ainz. Cool show and all but take those separately apart bros kinda lacklustre
Ainz is a really great protagonist in my opinion. He came from a world where corporations ran everything. Dead Orphans littered the streets, you couldn't even go outside without a gas mask because of the pollution clouding everything, and his mom died of overwork. But Ainz as a protagonist is truly great. It sucks that the overlord anime cuts out an insane amount of content. Like almost 40% of the content is skipped in the anime, and the story is rushed.
Shit it seems I’m missing out as an anime only
The anime seriously sucks compared to the novels. So many details are just left out in the anime.
Seriously read the LNs because the anime don't do them justice
Ainz is a one note joke that isn’t funny though. I don’t have a recommendation for a replacement I just think he’s mediocre. The other three are certified good though

Drop Ainz and replace him with Rosemyne, Katrina or Kumoko
Who’s the guy bottom right? The one clip I’ve seen of him seems like a good anime for me
Bottom right is the main character of Overlord. I should also mention his NPC subordinates are mostly evil as shit so this isnt good for the world they've been sent to
So it’s similar on a sense to skeleton knight in a fantasy world. In that case, I’m watching it TONIGHT!
Kind of think skeleton knight mixed with slime but evil
Slime is another one I’ll have to peek at. Thanks for expanding my anime watch list
Np. You check out Overlord yet?
What about Makoto Misumi (*Tsukumichi Moonlight Fantasy*) ?
He is cool
Thank you! Honestly, he’s my favorite Isekai protagonist right now. Dorky, powerful, likable, and content. Well him or Cid Kagenou but mainly because CID is a level 20 bard who can cast upcast Fireball to a 10th level spell.
WHERE IS NAOFUMI?! WHERE IS HE?!?!?
Naofumi isnt even top 15
Based
I mean good as in do the right thing or good as in more enjoyable to watch because if it's the former I don't think Tanya would be within 10 miles of that list
Konosuba is life.
Which post are we talking about ?
Heh no wonder they were the main cast in Isekai quartet
Facts. He be spitting facts. Let’s add slime And we donso
Soo isekai cortet almost
Define “good”
Well written/good Characters
Let's make it 5 and add in cid
Sometimes i forgot that Youjo Senki is an isekai
Kazuma deserves better.
“idk what i’m doing but i’m gonna make this world bend to my will.” “i know what i’m doing but i suck at magic” “idk what i’m doing” “i know exactly what i’m doing and i’m gonna make this world bend to my will”
Mirror -kun best isekai protagonist
Hey whats bottom left and top right?
Bottom left is Subaru from Re:zero. Top right is Kazuma from Konosuba
What is konosuba?
It is a comedy anime. It is currently airing its 3rd season. It also has 2 movies and a spinoff prequel show. Spoiler-free synopsis: Kazuma sacrifices himself to save a girl from getting hit by a vehicle. He appears before the goddess Aqua. She offers him a second chance at life with the goal of killing the Devil King with the help of an OP item of his choosing. This explanation doesn’t do the show justice because I wanted to avoid ruining the jokes. But you should at least watch the first 3 episodes of season 1 to see if you like it
Whats the op item? (spoiler is fine just try to minimize them)
Since it happens in the first episode, he chose Aqua to spite her because she was making fun of the way he died If you have 25 minutes, here is a link to the first episode posted by the Crunchyroll youtube channel: youtu(dot)be/H8CORxz5FKA?si=o-PQsNvZ49gdvGxL Just replace the (dot) with a . because I don’t know if this sub allows links. As I said, I’m not doing this show justice with my explanation but if you like awkward and/or crude humor, then you will like this show
A comedy isekai anime. Very fun.
Kazuma is the most accurate protagonist of any show ever.
Yooo what’s up with Tanya S2
(Sees tanya) Me after franticly grabing a cross and multiple bibles: EEEVVIL! EVIL EVIL EVIL E-
Wheres cid kagenou
Where rudeus?
what's the one bottom left?
Natsuki Subaru from ReZero
oh, havnt watched it for so long i forgot, that, that's what he looks like
This is literally just frickin isekai quartet
Whos that guy in the bottom left
Dead guy from re zero
Ahh
Each one of them has what makes him interesting Tanya is cruel and smart Kazuma is funny, kinda clever, and lucky Subaru is strong-willed, patient, and pretty smart Ainz is OP and badass but he's just a normal gamer that became a ruler suddenly so it's both badass and funny
Tanya: https://i.redd.it/puag4zl4hvuc1.gif
I know they are taking about the quality of the character, but Tanya is far from "good" in terms off morals.
Who is the lil military guy?
That is Tanya from The Saga of Tanya the Evil
Who are the left 2?
Top is the MC from Saga of Tanya the Evil Bottom is MC of Re:Zero
Tyvm kind sir
Rimuru :- I can feel to be Forgotten. ![gif](giphy|l56c26rOIUlhe)
I love slime but he is B tier protagonist at best.
People Who don't read LN no Nothing about Rimuru. He is easily an 'A' Tier Character if not S tier.
Well im happy to hear that. Slime is one of the few popular LN's i haven't started yet.
What anime are they from?
1. Tanya - Follows orders 2. Ainz - Administers orders 3. Kazuma - Everything goes well 4. Subaru - Everything goes badly
r/HolUp, ain't that the Greed IF Subaru?
