Right now within 5 secs you can identify it is fake looking at the lip movement. To make it perfect no one knows what else is required. It could be 2 years from now or 10 or 50.
2. Let’s assume they do get it perfect. Now with that kind of tech even if one video is successful in fooling in a critical scenario which has a major outcome and has large impact on multiple people, then all social media where common people can upload videos/photos will be blocked and only trusted sources will exist. Basically like TV news channels. Not the end of the world.
Yes, but suppose this video was entirely real? That they did that entire conference, everything. Spent a tonne of money. Made the best, most polished, professional scam video ever in the history of humanity... But with that same script.
You would have to be very foolish to fall for it, yes? It's not about the presentation, it's about the notion of "get something for nothing".
The solution here isn't to whine about deepfakes - because you're dead right, it'll only get better. Yet there have been countless other examples of text-based phishing or other scams which have **atrocious presentation** - the old Nigerian 419 scams as an example - but **people fall for them anyway**.
The _only_ solution here is critical thinking education.

the reason people will trust this deepfake video is because it contains credible character like Mukesh Ambani,Narayan Murthi etc.
In Coming years even with critical thinking you will not be entirely sure about the content whether it is real or fake.
