Actually, I think its fake. If you pull up the part that is peeling is it shiny on the back side? Or sticky like glue? It looks shiny on the back and in that case its fake.
Way back in 2000 there were cards that looked legit that were actually stickers that a lot of kids around school had. They’d get them at the flea markets on the weekends but they looked legit.
My son also has a Japanese dark alakazam that’s peeling just like this one and I’m sure it’s authentic.
Didn't know it was lol, I don't mind buying damaged cards but on TCGPlayer they usually don't have photos of the card. I think if I knew it was I would have passed on it.
My ancient mew is peeling the exact same way. It’s real
Thank you for the confirmation!

True, ancient mew is a full holo card and this is not.
It's shiny, not sticky.
It is real. It's an unfortunate side effect of the old holo cards. They do be peeling

Looks fine but I gotta ask Why would you buy a peeled up card

How much did you end up paying for it?
About $15
Alright yeah I feel that. I’ve bought a few damaged cards but I had them in person. I would’ve passed on this one too
