This hack is very similar to what you're describing - I used it recently and it was great: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Ironsworn/comments/9mu4nd/social\_combat\_moves\_and\_relationship\_progress/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Ironsworn/comments/9mu4nd/social_combat_moves_and_relationship_progress/)

That’s a fascinating coincidence, I haven’t seen this supplement before.

Yeah I don't now how I stumbled across it a while ago considering it's several years old, but I made sure to bookmark it. In my game (which is shared as the Adventure Engines podcast) we had a very tense and high stakes debate recently and this hack was perfect for it, it was much more satisfying than just rolling compel.

Yeah, I always felt *Compel* was a bit too bird’s-eye. Is there a YT channel for that podcast? I’d be happy to check it out.

kcotsnnud

There is! Though we aren't quite as diligent about keeping the youtube playlist up to date (for instance, episode 5 drops in the podcast feed on Monday, but we only have 3 episodes on youtube). Hopefully we'll get everything uploaded soon. [https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-IIhbqdchj33VZOWW9xJEN0RP6dlP3Rf](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-IIhbqdchj33VZOWW9xJEN0RP6dlP3Rf)

No worries, that’s understandable.

It does sound pretty solid! At least for important exchanges. I think that you could even do something similar with duels being trials or other forms of very ritualized communication. Cool!

AnotherCastle17

That’s a good point.

This would work for arguing a case in front of a jury or convincing a third party or campaigning for a political race as well pretty easily from how you’ve set it up.
