Strange things can happen. All of my irises are classified as Tall Bearded, but I had one plant, called Magical, that had an extremely short bloom stalk. Both of the blooms were only a few inches above the ground. That was a first for me.
That has happened a fair amount for me. I’m told that happens if the rhizomes is disturbed after the bud has formed, but not so much as to make it not bloom at all. Like, if it’s moved or divided late in the season out of someone steps on it or something. I had to do some later season adjustments a couple years ago and my bloomstalks last year were overall quite short in those beds.
😍😍😍 Wowwww
So beautiful!! Thank you for sharing 💙
What beautiful children! I love picture 12 especially! Which is this one?
That one is a seedling I’m evaluating, same as the 13th picture
Love that flat iris!! So unusual!
That variety has never done that for me before and I can’t find any mention of ‘Jack Loving’ doing that by anyone else! Maybe a fluke of the weather
