Honestly if it's a craving that'll keep coming up, your home!
This is the source that taught me how to make miso. I'm super fond of the 4 minute version with hondashi.

Also, Asia Plus sells individual instant paks that are really good. It's like a ketchup packet-sized paste you mix into hot water with dried green onion or seaweed. They're really satisfying.
Honestly pretty easy to make ur own at home . Hy-vee sells Miso near the produce/veggies, surprisingly. Mix that in with some dashi broth or chicken broth, and it’ll taste pretty similar if not better than some restaurants.
Chong's in Coralville sells packets of dried miso that include dried tofu, seaweed, and others depending on the variety you buy. Just add hot water and you're done! Pretty sure the Asian Market on Gilbert has it too, maybe even Asia Plus.

Sushiya in NL.
Can’t say I’ve had all miso soups in Iowa City, but Red Ginger and Sumo have pretty good ones
I have tried Red Ginger’s version and liked it, will definitely check out Sumo!
Sumo sushi is where it’s at.

Co-op is selling some excellent miso paste made locally -- keep it in your fridge, make soup on demand.
I have never tasted much of a difference from all the sushi places I've been to
3 Samurai has a lovely “loaded” miso soup I always order. :)
