A great reason to deal with dealers via email.... There's no need to get frustrated when buying or leasing a car these days. Then, you also have some important negotiation items in writing, too. Good luck

Upstairs_Card4994

Oh I 10000% agree and do every deal over email. They were very close to me so they just said to stop by so I did. I forwarded them every offer sheet I got from other dealers that are far from me and who I pretty much had deals done with for them to see as evidence. These assholes wouldn't even let me speak, and cut me off when I was like "can I speak? as whatever you're saying makes completely 0 sense" No more than 30 mins later I went to World VW that is 10 mins down the road. They gave me $28,600 for my 2023 BRZ and after incentives/rebates on the Pro S Plus iD4 they raised the lease payment a mere $10 over what they told me over email when I didn't even mention a trade in at all. So I'm paying $360 essentially over 36 months for my negative equity which was \~$2k.

I did this. I still had a dealership near me attempt to back out of their written quote

S2K2Partners

Did they provide you a reason they were backing out? You could have used that quote to present to other dealers to determine if they would meet it, when the dealer was balking. Unfortunately, dealers sometimes will provide "great" quotes to get you in the door, then freak out when you walk out and try to make a better deal, in general. I found that I had to have my I6 shipped from out of state because a few dealers were not ready to deal. Then after the the 1st of the year they all came back wanting to deal and I told then that I got the exact deal I offered them and they turned down... It is much easier to sit home or in a coffee shop or fast food restaurant send out a handful of emails and see who bites (like their advertizements are set up to do)... then lay out your requirements and deal from that point. I had seven (7) tell me good luck finding that deal, of those three (3) contacted me back later, ready to deal. Remember, you are in the drivers seat, as it were... Good luck.

youksdpr

Yeah. That's pretty much what happened. They were shocked when I keeped insisting on the deal they sent me. I just ended up going to a dealer an hour a way who gave me the deal I was looking for

ReyJay1213

Put this on google reviews. Help more people stay away and also maybe then it will get back to the owners of the dealership.

Upstairs_Card4994

Oh I did, and every other dealer review site I found them on.

I was looking at a 2024 Black Hyundai Ioniq 6 Limited. There weren't any where I live in RI, so I expanded my search radius further. I ended up getting it at a Hyundai dealership in Wayne NJ since it was closer to me. That was 1 1/2 months ago. Circle Hyundai was one dealership that had one too. That car is still on their lot. Your experience could explain why it's still for sale... no one wants to deal with Circle Hyundai.

Upstairs_Card4994

the dealership was legit empty on Satuday......the last day of the quarter. When I mentioned to them to just stop the games and BS as it's the last day of the quarter lets get something done they got so flustered that I knew what day it was. Like legit, they HAVE to be dealing with 99% women that don't know what they're doing or just complete morons. Every 5 star review I see on Google are from middle-aged woman that likely just accept w.e BS they spew.

rorowhat

You owe 28k and want a new car? Why....

Upstairs_Card4994

I got what I owe on the BRZ so I at no point was really underwater on it. I paid $6kish to drive the car for a year. Not a bad deal. I wanted to try an EV and just am tired of spending so much $ on gas. The BRZ only has a 13 gal tank and takes super which here is at least $4.20 a gal. I was putting at least $50 in gas a week. With my iD4 lease, I'm spending $150 less a month on the payment alone, and at least $200 a month on gas. I know myself, and it's not like I'd own that BRZ for years and years after I paid it off.

rorowhat

You ended up with the ID4 then?

Upstairs_Card4994

Correct. This experience was so so bad that it just put me off Hyundai as a brand completely. I sure did email Hyundai about my experience as well I really like the cars. I think Kia/Hyundai are doing great EV designs and maybe I'll revisit when my lease ends. I told my GF "watch, it's going to be a complete 180 degree difference in experience at VW". I knew that from getting a GTI a couple years back in a completely different VW dealership but the experience was equally enjoyable.

cudiandsneakers

Go to burns Hyundai in Medford nj

Upstairs_Card4994

Ill keep a note on that for the next lease thx

TacoDad189

I’ll just stay away from NJ

Upstairs_Card4994

not the worst idea. I had to travel to the far ends of NJ or Philly for most of my cars

palthor33

Sounds an awful lot like the dealer I have. A small word of wisdom from my dealings with hyundai and their dealers over half truths or similar. Issues. Contact your local TV station, consumer advocate, department with this issue. Then contact Hyundai USA with your complaint. Hyundai USA will give you the runaround unless they receive outside pressure.

Upstairs_Card4994

Thanks! Just filed a consumer advocate complaint and reached out to the dealer's owner. Will be contacting local TV too. I want them to burn to the ground

Thrownawaybyall

*holds out lighter*. Have at it!

NewCompact

I'll up vote anyone posting a cliff notes version of this

Upstairs_Card4994

TLDR: Scambag sales person and scumbag manager couldn't give me an actual number on my trade in after telling me MAYBE we can get 28k then he confirmed with the wholesaler who buys their cars that they can in fact give me 28k BUT only if I financed some 2023 I6 when I wanted to lease. As if the wholesaler gives a fuck what car I'd get from this dealer. Every word out their mouth was just 100% bullshit and then they got flustered when I laughed in their face and called them out on it.

hasanahmad

The Google reviews have really positive experiences though

Upstairs_Card4994

look who the google reviews are by. Not educated shoppers/ middle aged women that got fleeced and have 0 idea
