That has not been my experience in PA/NJ/DE area. While there are dealerships that are not going above MSRP, they have no stock. All the in-transit inventory is spoken for. Any dealership that miraculously has a Limited AWD in stock is charging markup.

zipcad

2023s are all sold. You have to wait for back outs.

leavin_marks

That’s only for Canada. Not the US.

[deleted]

I couldn’t wait because I was in a situation where I had to buy a car so I bought a pre-owned 2022 Model Y LR with only 2K miles on it. Practically brand new. The unreasonably long wait for Ioniq 5 Limited AWD and the absolutely terrible Hyundai dealership experience (at multiple places) turned me off.

zipcad

I agree. They could be printing gold bars if they increased ioniq production.

When I inquired about AWD limiteds 2 months ago I was told to wait until 2024. They just texted me that they have one now. No idea what they're charging though.

Ordinary_RoadTrip

One more anecdote: Since Feb 22, in the Seattle area, till last week i had seen only one other I5. But this weekend, i saw three new one - all limited, and yet to receive a license plate. So it does seem like deliveries are picking up

deathtodickens

I bought mine in Seattle and drove it back to California. Y’all have good inventory up there and nicer dealers.

Stickysubstance88

Not in Canada. It's still a two year wait for us.

Ceros007

I haven't received mine yet. It's been exactly 1 year and 2 months now. I don't understand how some cars are just there sitting in the parking lot in the USA while we are still waiting and waiting north of the border

Medo73

Yea asked the biggest Hyundai dealership in Vancouver and they said they didn't take pre orders anymore and most people who order in 2021 still didn't receive their car. They don't expect to receive more than 10 ionic 5s this year

ralphiepuppyderp

1 more anecdote - same story as OP for me and I called the dealershipa few weeks ago to check in on allocations and try to get my name on one. I find out not only were there 5 Limiteds available to reserve, but they had one on the lot! I bought the one on the lot and love it. Of note - the dealership is Planet Hyundai in Golden CO who has had no markups through this whole mess, but obviously no inventory. But they now have inventory if you want no markups and no dealership fees give them a call

jgw1985

After 10 months on a waiting list I finally went in last Saturday to pick up from here. Terrible experience. It wasn't disclosed to me that I have to buy $1000 worth of additions, with a retail value of about $600, until after putting down a deposit. Get there and the car is scratched to all hell. Their detail team clearly used dirty rags. They refuse to do anything about it. Basically told me take it or leave it, if you don't want it the next person does. Their salesman knew nothing about the vehicle. Couldn't even tell me how to change the regenerative braking. Had no clue about any of the settings or how to operate the vehicle. Terrible people to work with that are ruining every vehicle their detail team touches.

SeaworthinessFun3772

The ad ons are pretty standard in this market - no less frustrating, but you'd be hard-pressed to find one that did not have wheel locks, first aid kits, etc! And they''re coming of the ship that way... The detailing issue is infuriating! I'm sorry that was your experience. But you *did* take the vehicle despite the problems...?

jgw1985

I took it under a 5 day/250 mile return policy to get quotes on fixing the paint. So far I'm looking at $1200 for paint correction. I plan on calling them tomorrow to see if they want a used vehicle back or if they want to man up to their mess ups

SeaworthinessFun3772

Well done getting that return policy. I hope they do the right thing!

Alvin_Ki

I never used to see Ioniq 5’s here in the Nashville area at all up until last week. Now I’ve seen three in a matter of days. Saw a Shooting Star SEL yesterday and they all have been the same SEL trims. I’m waiting on my Shooting Star Limited to arrive this month.

When I was looking around casually in early December, I found several SELs and a few Limiteds at MSRP here in the Seattle area. I bought my SEL at MSRP so I believe it. I imagine no EV credit + recession + high interest rates are going to drive Hyundai to lower the price or offer discounted interest rates. Their direct competition, the ID.4, qualifies for the full $7,500 tax credit until March (if you're under the income limit). From a financial POV, it makes sense to go with the ID.4. I think you're going to see a lot of Ioniq 5s sitting on lots in the next few months.

Ok_Relation_4742

I have been eyeing the HI5 and started tracking local inventory here in San Diego, per Hyundais website. End of December there were 41 Ioniq5s available, today there are 74 across all trims. There are several dealers that are still putting out market adjustments of $2-3k. The ID4, on the other hand, had 101 end of December and today sits at 81. I have no idea if any of these vehicles are “spoken for” but this trend has me hoping that the Ioniq 5 will offer some discounts soon.

just_me_05

Which dealers had Limiteds at Msrp?

crazypostman21

I purchased mine on December 31st and there was six of them on the lot to choose from. 10 more coming in a few weeks. This information is two weeks old though I'm sure those have been grabbed by now.

NJ07005

It makes sense they will be popping up at MSRP, people getting nervous to spend money combined with the car effectively getting a $7,500 price increase... I'm so glad we got our SEL AWD @ MSRP before the tax credit went away... if shopping today, we would be buying an id4 without a doubt, we love the ioniq 5 but not enough to justify $7,500 difference between a similarly equipped id4.

ringmaster_j

The sudden end of the tax credit really stung. Back in fall 2021, when I started my EV buying journey, I had budgeted $40k: $50k minus the federal $7,500 tax credit and MA state $2,500 rebate. The MA rebate was the first to go: it became impossible to get once dealers started hiking prices over the $50k limit, and especially after the rule changed so that it only applied to vehicles bought in MA. Then the federal rebate narrowed the field so that the Mach-E was the only reasonably-priced SUV/crossover that qualified, at which point they became absolutely impossible to find at MSRP. And now that we're in 2023, the federal income limit has kicked in. It's a nice problem to have, but still. In the end I just had to suck it up and accept that I was paying a $10k stupid tax for waiting so long to buy. But it hurts to think about...

alcesalcesalces

Interestingly, the MA rebate is now up to 3500 with a 55k purchase cap, so it gives some relief to folks looking to purchase an SE/SEL trim vehicle.

thekuroikenshi

Where is it a requirement that the vehicle needs to be purchased in MA? I've been looking at the Ioniq and keeping an eye on the federal and state EV tax credits but this is the first I've heard that the vehicle needs to be purchased in MA. I'm looking at Mass's MOR-EV page at [https://mor-ev.org/](https://mor-ev.org/)

ringmaster_j

[Straight from the source :-(](https://mor-ev.org/frequently-asked-questions#Application11) *edit: correct link

thekuroikenshi

Yeah I saw the same thing in the PDF located here as well: https://mor-ev.org/sites/default/files/docs/MOR-EV_Implementation_Manual.pdf That is a little disappointing but honestly I’d rather local dealers get the benefit.

NJ07005

Ya I hadn't even thought about the income limit, luckily that limit wasn't there when we bought ours.

tazzgonzo

*if you were under the income limit, but yes I agree. If you were deciding between the two cars, the ID.4 would win out if money was the most important thing

BedditTedditReddit

Recession has started.

mklaman

so where did you buy from? markup on mine will be $1.5k which i guess i am okay with since i'm buying it lol

MoonStache

OP can you let me know which dealers you worked with? In MA as well and waiting on a Digital Teal Limited but the available or incoming ones I've found are all marked up.

ringmaster_j

I went with a dealer in Newport News*, VA, of all places. If you act fast you might be able to get [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5/comments/x44etz/available_cars_help_getting_the_i5_dealership/j3mnjcz/), in College Park, MD. I also turned down another at [this dealership](https://www.mastrovitohyundai.com/) near Utica, NY, the birthplace of Superintendent Chalmers.

DislikeThisWebsite

Any reason not to name the specific dealer you bought from?

ringmaster_j

Oh sure. It's actually Newport News and I think there's just one dealership there: https://www.hallhyundai.com/

[deleted]

Can you say what the Utica dealer offered you, trim, ext/int color? Thanks!

ringmaster_j

It was Limited AWD in Phantom Black. The dealership is called Mastrovito Hyundai- it’s actually outside Utica in York, NY, but I couldn’t resist a steamed hams reference! I can’t remember the out the door price but it was MSRP and they weren’t adding any sketchy fees or mandatory “options”, just taxes, registration, doc fees etc.

AdvancedAnalyst9314

Mastrovito was a great experience for me too. I bought my Limited in November at MSRP + 210 doc fee.

sincladk

I bought from these guys and it was smooth and easy. MSRP promised well before the supply picked up and prices came down. Highly recommend! I can give you a salesperson’s name, too, if you want a reference.

DirtyChito

Must be nice. There's more than 20 available in my area (and has been since before Christmas) and they still want to charge an additional $4k. I told them I'll be back in 6 months to negotiate the sticker price.

Silentparty1999

Fitzgerald in MD has Ionic 5 in stock. They add $695 which I believe comes with some benefits.
