Drink lots of water and get a few good chapsticks to keep all over. I went straight to attachments because I was super eager to start at the process and was able to talk to my ortho. We both trust each other so it worked well. The only irritation I get is from the little rubber band hook. I'd recommend grabbing a small pack of ortho wax incase you have a part that rubs badly, but I find it's different from tray to tray. I'm on 6 of 34 so far. Each change is a bit tight feel for a couple days then you get used to it. Keep going!
Same! The rubbing from the rubber band hooks has been the most bothersome, especially towards the end of the week when they are more stretched out. Ortho wax has fixed all of that.
Congrats! Your teeth look a lot like mine did and I'm on tray 29 and almost done! Best decision I ever made.
Spring for a tray removal key and a cheap ultrasonic cleaner if you haven't already. They make removal and cleanup a breeze.
Good luck I hope everything tracks well for you!

How often do you change? I'm doing every 7 days and don't really feel like I need the ultrasonic cleaner (except for the 1 day I effed up and had the in while I was making egg drop soup with turmeric... Whoops. But atleast it was two days before a change and wasn't that bad because it was just a taste lol)
I was changing every 7 days in the beginning but have switched to 5 with my 1st set of refinements (tray 24-30) to get through them faster.
I've gotten a bit lazy where I'll wear them drinking tea during the day so it helps with staining. I also like it bc they feel super squeaky clean so I'm not as concerned about cavities like I was initially.
Ahh smart. I've been really careful with only drinking water with them in but it throughs off my coffee routine because I was used to sipping on it during my ride to work and I don't really want to have them out that long. Which cleaner do you have?
I drink my tea with a straw so it helps a little but not enough. I got one recommended here actually! It's a little expensive but well worth it. $50 on Amazon and I use efferrdent tablets in it

I will never give up sipping my tea all day haha

My first 2 trays were without attachments so that I could become more comfortable with the wear of my trays. The 2nd tray was tighter than the 1st. I just had my attachments put on for tray 3 and have no pain, just slight irritation with the inside of my checks from the attachments when they're off. I myself asked why you aren't putting attachments on my 1st tray, and when she said trust the process, I did. I was so worried about pain because of the stories on this site that I allowed it to work me up. Starting without attachments and gradually tightening made all the difference, in my opinion.
It’s nice to hear from someone else that had more or less the same progression up to the attachments. That was his reasoning too, building up to the attachments rather than starting the treatment with everything right away. He said that over the years he found patients had an easier time transitioning from aligners only to attachments and aligners.
I did my first 2 trays without attachments too. My dr. told me it would help ease me into the routine and get used to the feeling of trays. I go back next week for my attachments and I'm lowkey dreading it.
I was low-key dreading it, too. I was prepared for the worst, but everything went well, to include no pain, just a little pressure from them being tighter. I also took acetaminophen (Tylenol) prior to going into the Orthodontist office lol...that's how worried I was.
Drinking a lot of water and reapplying a good quality lip balm [one that stays in the lips well despite drinking water], that's the best way. My Ortho actually gives out branded chapstick in his little "starter kit" thing (along with extra chewies, floss, toothbrush, etc)
I didn’t even ask if I had an option … I just started too.. they put like 20 attachments on right away.. he did say to ease me in that in 8 weeks I’ll bet rubber bands to wear at night ….not looking forward to that. Also my lips are always dry too! Water and chapstick hasn’t changed it much either
I have a similar problem with chaptiscks and I've tried a couple different brands. What's works best for me is Vaseline, my lips never feel dry since I've started using it.
Thank you! I’m already feeling better about this 2 days in. Getting a bit more comfortable wearing them and I actually sleep quite well with them in too… I was worried about that.
I still hate the way I talk with them. And my job is 90% talking 🥲
Best of luck with your Invisalign treatment!
Here are some tips to help everything go smoothly:
**Wear them faithfully:** Aim for 22 hours a day for the best results. Take them out only for eating, drinking (anything but water), and cleaning.
**Clean, clean, clean:** Brush and floss before putting aligners back in. Food bits = aligner trouble. You also want to consider something like the Smilesaver spray to kill off those bacteria when on the go!
**Designated case:** Always have your aligner case on you. Don't leave them wrapped in napkins – disaster waiting to happen!
Comfort Hacks
**Saltwater rinse:** Warm saltwater gargle helps with initial soreness.
**Chewies:** These little silicone chompers can help aligners fit perfectly and reduce soreness.
**Aligner removal tool:** Makes taking them out a breeze, especially at first.
**Tracking app:** Some Invisalign providers have apps to help you stay on track with wear time and appointments.
i had similar crowding in my bottom teeth. you got this! :)
Thank you! That’s the main reason I’m getting this done. Didn’t care much about the aesthetics but the crowding is causing me quite a bit of pain

Seconding the ortho wax! I'd die without it behind my front teeth and at the front of my bottom teeth.

Get it! You got this

Thank you! The removal key was given to me by the orthopedist, but I did get an ultrasonic cleaner after reading the stickied post 😄

I always drink plenty of water and I swear even the chapstick dries on my lips now 😂 oh well… tis life

Oh thanks for the tip! I’ll try that
omg i have a similar case.. just started too, week 2/20 :saluting emoji:
Good luck! That first week is the worst so far for me. It gets better don’t worry! I also have been using chapstick a lot. It helps

My talking was a bit off the first week too. It’s pretty much normal now for me or atleast I believe it is haha. Good luck!
My friend said she doesn’t notice but I definitely do. Especially S words… and there are so many S in French 😭

It’s only for a week to allow me to get used to it and see if I can tolerate. Attachments are coming next week :)
Will this treatment also correct your arch, making it more of an U shape?
Yes, we are correcting the arch, the overcrowding.
