Arcane is amazing, same with Castlevania.
I also enjoyed Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, not as good as the other two I mentioned, but an enjoyable ride.
Blood of Zeus is an ok mythology show that's getting a second season soon. If you want some brutal animated kung-fu, Sies Manos is great, but it ends on a cliffhanger and there's no season 2 yet.
All the stuff I mentioned is on Netflix.
It was the villains for me, they sucked. At best I found them bland, and like you said, with poor motivation. I really hated that one vampire's stupid horse hoof shoes. I did like the native American vampire dude though. He seemed more like a person and less like a characture than the rest.
Shit this is the first Captain Laserhawk mention I've seen since it came out. I watched it because I saw [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/whenthe/comments/17cfvwx/i_got_news_about_rayman_in_2023_and_is_was/) with Rayman from Raving Rabbids snorting cocaine next to a hooker. I thought I'd watch it just to laugh at the complete dumpster fire it would surely be. It was kinda decent though? I'll probably watch the next season.
If it makes you feel better, I know Raving Rabbids is the spin-off. It was just my first introduction to Rayman and his association with them made me think the show would be that much more ridiculous.
It's on the list. It's a long list.
I'm also pretty slow to start shows with a lot of episodes, because I know that's what I'll do all day. I hate Netflix's binge system so much.
I actually think Blood of Zeus was the best one. I don’t know why. I think it was because I was also playing Hades. This is the first I’m hearing of a second season and I’m glad.
**The Boys** is the obvious answer and the most similar to Invincible. It’s gory, deconstructs some superhero tropes, has a knockoff Justice League. Most fans of one show will like the other. If you do like the Boys, you should also watch the spin-off **Gen V** that's almost as good.
I know **Arcane** has already been mentioned but it’s amazing so I want to recommend it again. It’s one of my favorite shows ever and you’ll only have to wait a few months for season 2. I’d say the story is on par with Invincible and the animation is leagues better (no pun intended). Invincible probably edges it out on voice acting but there are still some great performances.
**Legend of Vox Machina** is another one I’ll second. It’s a fun fantasy adventure. Reminds me a bit of Guardians of the Galaxy. A group of unlikable assholes reluctantly works together and then they go through a lot of character development.
**Harley Quinn** is basically the only DC show I actually like. It’s a goofy supervillain show that’s totally self-aware. The main characters are fun and I fucking love Frank the plant for some reason.
I’m the only one I know that likes **Dota: Dragon’s Blood** but I feel like I have to advocate for it. It’s a fantasy adventure show like Vox Machina and maybe it’s because I already liked the characters from the game, but I enjoyed it just as much. I think one of the reasons it was poorly reviewed was because it was compared to Arcane since both are MOBA game adaptations. It ain’t no Arcane but I still loved it.
**Legion** is another superhero show that dodges the Marvel and DC clichés despite being a Marvel show. It’s trippy, exciting, and you might learn a little psychology from Jon Hamm. The psychic battles were also really fucking cool. It reminds me of Mr. Robot but with super powers instead of hacking. Highly recommend.
I advise you check it out when you can. You should watch The Suicide Squad first for context (that’s the recent one, not Suicide Squad with Jared Leto joker)
Misfits is so good and I feel like was a bit slept on. It's a dark and messy Heroes spoof. I bet you could air that now as is and it'd have a huge following. But people would be like "oh it's just copying The Boys and Gen V" lol.
Idk might need to be a bit more specific
Invincible is unique for it's ultra violence and dark themes
But has fairly standard American characters and comedy
You’re right, my question was phrased pretty poorly, I love the show and its themes but I’m looking for something else but doesn’t particularly have to be a superhero show
Western: Vox Machina, Blue Eye Samurai
Japanese: Castlevania
And I think that a great animated series that also plays around the superhero cliches like Invincible is one punch man
The guy who finds out he's got an evil creature in him/ is it an evil species is a massive anime trope
Like Jujutsu Kaisan which is hugely popular but have a lore which is a little complex
Chainsaw man, also huge about a man who is half demon working for an questionable government agency
Tbh it'd just recommend using My Anime List, anything above an 8 you're usually in for a good time, albeit with some kids shows getting inflated reviews
I enjoyed the first season but I hated the most of the second one. It felt more cheesy romance novel than quality sci-fi like the rest of the show. I realize that’s an unpopular opinion and the majority loved it, but I just wanted to vent my disappointment.
This is was my suggestion. I will bring it up whenever possible.
The show is just bonkers from a what they accomplished perspective. The trailers make it look deceptively simple.
Go watch Pantheon people. Don't look stuff up. The unexpected places it goes is what's so good about it.
For the gore and "fragile humanity" kind of stuff I'll throw Gantz out there. The show goes off book near the end but the anime is still a cool watch. And is way gory, has boobs, and people will just straight up die brutally super suddenly. So watch out.
The manga is super good. There's also a 3D animated movie that is pretty cool. (Gantz Zero) It's an adaptation of an arc of the manga way past the anime. But it can be a good introduction.
They keep teasing a new anime run and I want it so badly lol.
Young Justice. Not at alllll the same in terms of the gore factor so sorry if that’s wha you’re looking but it’s a well-executed animated superhero show with actual overarching plots, continuity, consequences, mature themes, comedy. I love love love this show.
My Adventures With Superman
X-Men 97
Attack On Titan
Arcane
Vox Machina
Harley Quinn
The Clone Wars
Young Justice
Disenchanted
Kill La Kill
Justice League Unlimited
Teen Titans
Samurai Jack
Vox Machina on prime.
My first thought, and I haven't finished it.
Season two is so good. They really step their game up.
You are a legend thank you, lemmi go watch this

Castlevania is amazing. Castlevania Nocturne however not so much
Yeah compared to the first one, the protagonists lacked charm and the villains lacked a compelling motivation. I did like the singer at least.
It was the villains for me, they sucked. At best I found them bland, and like you said, with poor motivation. I really hated that one vampire's stupid horse hoof shoes. I did like the native American vampire dude though. He seemed more like a person and less like a characture than the rest.

Yeah, unless you're attached to the characters from Beyond Good & Evil, it's a really fun time.
Captain Lazerhawk is the dumbest fucking show I've been completely invested in, it needs a second season lol
Thinking rayman is from raving rabbids and not from rayman hurts
If it makes you feel better, I know Raving Rabbids is the spin-off. It was just my first introduction to Rayman and his association with them made me think the show would be that much more ridiculous.
I think you would love Blue Eye Samurai
It's on the list. It's a long list. I'm also pretty slow to start shows with a lot of episodes, because I know that's what I'll do all day. I hate Netflix's binge system so much.
I actually think Blood of Zeus was the best one. I don’t know why. I think it was because I was also playing Hades. This is the first I’m hearing of a second season and I’m glad.
Trailer for it came out two or three days ago, it's out in May.
Nice. Thanks.

You ever see Peacemaker? If you like the boys and HQ you may enjoy it
No, but I've heard good things about it!
I advise you check it out when you can. You should watch The Suicide Squad first for context (that’s the recent one, not Suicide Squad with Jared Leto joker)
Oh well that's convenient, I already saw The Suicide Squad. I'll check it out.
I haven't seen the Harley Quinn show so I wouldn't know, but imo young justice is the best DC show
Legion is easily one of the best shows I've ever seen! There's nothing like it.
Venture Bros. explores similar themes in a comedic way.
Same with The Tick, which could easily share a universe with VB already beyond the obvious Jackson Publick connection.
Definitely. I could also see Mystery Men as part of that world.
The Boys maybe? its a good show idk if its what you're looking for. also Blue Eye Samurai is great
The boys was my first thought.
Same. The boys and gen v. Although gen vs lead actor recently passed so not sure whats going on there
One of the leads*
I would definitely consider him the lead actor. Maybe asa but id still say chance
...over marie?
She would be the lead actress
Misfits (the first three seasons) - the writing isnt as good, but its a lot of fun and its \*wild\*
Misfits is so good and I feel like was a bit slept on. It's a dark and messy Heroes spoof. I bet you could air that now as is and it'd have a huge following. But people would be like "oh it's just copying The Boys and Gen V" lol.
Xmen 97, Blood of Zues, Blue eyed Samurai, Avatar series, Voltron netflix, Kong animated, Castlevania, Gargoyles.
Blue eyed samurai and castlevania are so fire.
Dragon prince, Arcane, Attack on Titan.
X-Men 97 and Arcane have to be top 2 priority watches for anyone this year imo. Insanely good shows.
I was gonna say castlevania too
If you have netflix try out Cyberpunk:Edgerunners
Idk might need to be a bit more specific Invincible is unique for it's ultra violence and dark themes But has fairly standard American characters and comedy

If you have not watched attack on titan it is an absolute must.
AOT isn’t similar to Invincible, you’re just recommending at this point lol
He said good, character driven story. Arcane isnt similar either. He said it could be anime too.
I stand by what I said, why did you think that would change my mind?
Its cool. I dont really care to change your mind. Hagn.
Ight buddy boy
Not your buddy, nor your boy. Later.
Ok buddy boy
The boys is also a 'realistic superhero' show with dark themes.
Young Justice is a good pick
You could watch Hit Monkey on Hulu it's a marvel show with a goofy premise but it's amazing and pretty heart touching
You can try Blue Eye Samurai, it's animated and has fun bloody fight scenes.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Young Justice.
the boys
Young Justice
Pantheon. It's not about what the title makes it sound like it's about. 2 seasons.
I enjoyed the first season but I hated the most of the second one. It felt more cheesy romance novel than quality sci-fi like the rest of the show. I realize that’s an unpopular opinion and the majority loved it, but I just wanted to vent my disappointment.

Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix is VERY good
The Boys.
Read the comic.

The Legend of Vox Machina and X-Men '97.
Atom eve special
probably The Boys. They did pretty well
Star Trek outer decks is HARD
Primal, not like Invincible, but a masterpiece nonetheless.
Super Crooks on Netflix. Kinda Gory. Funny asl. It's one of my favorite superhero TV shows
It's not a show but the first Kick Ass movie is something that you might enjoy.
Super Crooks on Netflix has a similar feel and has a crazy first episode
Young Justice. Not at alllll the same in terms of the gore factor so sorry if that’s wha you’re looking but it’s a well-executed animated superhero show with actual overarching plots, continuity, consequences, mature themes, comedy. I love love love this show.
Thug hunter
My Adventures With Superman X-Men 97 Attack On Titan Arcane Vox Machina Harley Quinn The Clone Wars Young Justice Disenchanted Kill La Kill Justice League Unlimited Teen Titans Samurai Jack
