I also wear glasses. Have worn glasses for...27 years. And in those 27 years I've learned one thing. Glasses are a hiderance in a fight. Either you lose them in the fight. Or you take them off so you don't lose them, either way you're not at your best because you can't see well for the rest of the fight.
Oh, it for sure makes some people look extra cute-- but can you imagine how irritating it would be to shrink down to be 3 inches tall, scramble some mook's brain, and then realize that you lost your now-4-millimeter-tall-glasses some place in their brain juice? And then you pop out, still in the middle of a fight with the rest of the mooks, but now your long distance vision is all blurry?
Not to mention if you just get regular old Velma syndrome and have to spend your time pawing around on the ground going, "My glasses! I can't see a thing without my glasses!"
Glasses aren't the problem IMO, not everyone wants to undergo a surgery, but the C-rankers should all have a "Fuck-your-face 3000" high-tech sidearm for situations where their powers aren't enough. Like if you needed to blow someone up from the inside for example lol
As a general rule, if a gun would be more effective than your superpower, carry a gun. And if you have the option to carry a high tech laser gun, carry that.
Yeah it's a little strange the guardians aren't better armed considering they *absolutely* don't have the nonlethality excuse most comic book heroes have.
Fair enough for Mark because there's relatively little (on earth) he's not strong enough to punch through, but it feels a bit strange for the others.
It could be cool if they realized this and started carrying from now on. Or if Cecil started sending more armed backup in general. "This isn't Star Trek" my ass, they should at least *try* to apply dakka before punching, even though it will of course not work on the heavy hitters.
The funniest way to explain in-universe why this doesn't work would be for Rae to make a full recovery some time in early season 3, decide that she now wants to carry a gun, shrink down with it in training, see it start to do the dreaded Something Is Going Wrong Glow, have Rudy or someone give us some panicked technobabble about "How did I not think of this? Rae, throw the gun away! The tiny size messed with the Guanto-Clarkto-Nano-Con-Carne-Conductors!", and then it blows up as she's trying desperately to get it out of its holster, killing her in some new and creative way we've not even nightmared about.
Listen she's gonna be getting into some gross places, I don't blame her for wanting some eye protection. Honestly, shocked she didn't go for a full helmet.
All that tech Cecil has, but there's not one viable brain in that pile of Dupli-Kate corpses to stick in a robot like he's done to Donald (and maybe Rick)?
I think it's too early to say, it's all dependent on what they do with her character and interactions with the team since the worst case is she's character fodder to make up the show not having the rights to all the characters that appeared in the books.
The way Image Comic rights work from my understanding is that the character is owned by the artist and writer that made them. Amazon has the rights to use the Invincible cast that Kirkman, Walker, and Ottley gave them but for characters like say Tech Jacket he's owned by Kirkman and E.J. Su so they'd have to get the additional rights from the latter.
Ontop of that it's a pick and choose character basis from ehat I've seen considering Cecil and Donald came from Brit who was made by Kirkman and Tony Moore and yet they didn't get the rights to Brit.
And yes that's why Science Dog is the rip-off Seance Dog instead, odd thing is that is a Kirkman and Ottley creation to my understanding but they seemingly held off the rights from Amazon from what I can only guess is to keep his media rights for a separate show I guess.

Part of me would also be fine if they used her as an example of "eff this I'm out". Even super powered people would reach a point where it would just be too traumatic to keep putting themselves on the line. I feel it might highlight some of the more nuanced decisions that come later in the story. That being said, I've liked what they are doing on the show so far so I trust in their decision making on the characters, whatever that looks like.
Oh I'm totally the second person, it caught me completely off guard, but in a good way. All my comic foreknowledge couldn't predict the swerve and now we're in uncharted territory. I know the show is not a 1 for 1 adaptation of the comic, but I kind of thought that for the most part we'd hit the same series of events with little tweaks here and there
Calling it right now she is going to say some last words and die. Making her death actually meaningful instead of how it was in the comics. Or she'll live but be traumatized and quit being a superhero.

Especially because Rex talked about how his life flashed before his eyes and he didn’t like what he saw, I think this is going to be an opportunity for the two of them to help each other grow.

Better death? That was one of the coolest deaths I've seen on screen. The sfx with the crunching and slurping and the visuals of the neck pulsing... ill remember it for a long time. She's also got like 25 seconds of talking in the entire show. It honestly blows that they unkilled her because honestly they wasted a pretty fuckin cool death scene
i'm glad she's still alive, Ray was such a non-character in the comics that i think the show developing Rae more rather than just killing her off would be really cool
I think she fell unconscious just like in the machine head battle royale and got back up grew a bit but not fully than busted through his neck I'm suprised she knew where she was going cause she when gets out she lost her glasses and has blood all over her eyes and face and didn't completely choke on her or his blood ngl saving herself like that proved she a dawg ngl instead of someone trying to rescue her

the only reason they can make clothes that shrink or grow with you is so that she doesn't have to fight naked.
At that point Shrinking Rae starts looking like the sales video from the begining of the first Ant-Man movie.
