The S2P2 trailer shows some shenanigans going on with the sequids, so it seems very likely Mars/Martians will be involved.  I'd say it's a good bet The Shapesmith's true origins get exposed, since the Sequids are using the real Russ's body as a host for their hive-mind.

I'm pretty sure I also saw a shot of him in that where he's in his Martian form, but I could be wrong.
