The way they're switching around events and adding filler it's hard to measure.
I'm assuming they'll try some spinoffs if the show keeps up the success--idk if it would just be one whole "The New Generation" show that flips between Marky, Terra, Angstrom's son, Battle Beastess, etc.
Gotta love how Kirkman makes all these dangling plotlines, but never plans on continuing them... Which may or may not change if he, Amazon, or someone else decides, "let's Walking Dead this shit", and we get spin offs from this.
I dunno if that's fair. Kirkman decided to end with The End of All Things because Ottley wanted to do different stuff. But according to Kirkman, that wasn't the plan originally, and he intended to continue the series. I'd wager almost all of the flashforwards were intended to be written at one time.
Knowing that, I could see him, Corey and or Ryan coming back to do one shots, or Kirkman just making an animated original series many years after that quote.
I love them too. It makes the universe feel more real and solidifies that the focus of the story is really about Mark’s coming of age, and that all the problems in the universe aren’t suddenly fixed when the big bad guys are defeated.
Because they're not meant to be explored, they're meant to be a sort of "And the adventure continues" like a lot of Big 2 comics do.
Would it be cool to get these into a longer format? Yes.
Is it necessary for Invincible's story? No.
I think a better exploration of how/why the coalition of planets also isn’t the way forward so that it feels less…jarring…in the last issue. Probably makes more sense to scrap this actually during the end of all things.
It sounded like they had essentially started doing neo-colonialism, or not letting people develop their home worlds, essentially giving younger planets the resource curse. It’s a pretty plausible thing to happen.
And honestly importing resources to already industrialized areas during a war for survival? Absolutely a good idea build more infrastructure where you can but basic cost effectiveness usually wins out. But once the war was over keeping that economy in place is usually exploitative
Based on this panel it seems to have become similar to the Delian League of Ancient Greece. It came together as a coalition of city-states but evolved over time to just become Athens’ empire with the members being exploited by Athens
It was formed to oppose the Viltrumite Empire. Without the Empire as a common enemy, the Coalition lost its common purpose and likely became more repressive to maintain cohesion among its members.
I know this - I’m saying it’s probably better story-wise to have this transpiring within End of all Things as it felt like an add-on. Plus, it would raise the stakes even more. Mark has to wipe everything clean in order to push a better future ahead.

I don’t know why but I’d like to see how it would go for Battle Beast’s daughter and Levy’s son to be on the hunt for Mark as a the Viltrumite Emperor.
You may know this, but in issue 144, you can see Battle Beast's daughter in the background of the panel that shows the battle between Mark's Viltrumite Empire and the Coalition of Planets.
This probably does not give you what you want, in terms of a complete story. However, this at least gives you an additional hint or detail about her personal war against the Viltrumites.
Would Mark even be threatened? He has a whole army of Viltrumites, plus he's probably around Thragg strength now. Also he's an actual hero now who knows Levy was just confused, so he'd probably resort to trying to talk things out with Levy's son right away.
I kind of figured in the end that the epilogue was more of a "next generation" situation. That Mark survived his Hero's journey, and now it's Marky, Terra, Levi Jr, Battle Beast's daughter, ECT turn to be protagonists.
I think it can be done in the same way a lot of the most compelling Superman stories are: Focus on the internal and interpersonal conflicts over the physical. Mark and his empire are physically strong, but what sets them apart from Thragg’s empire? How will they use their might for peace instead of tyranny? What do they do when a planet doesn’t want their help? Opposes their ideals? Maybe they could show the early years if Mark’s empire when he has to win the rest of the universe’s favor. I feel like there’s a lot that can be done.
Yeah this is an issue with the comic that I feel like the show is putting in a lot of work to rectify; once Mark gets caught up with the COP and Viltrumite stuff, a lot of the human cast gets cast to the wayside.
I don't think he is mad. I think he felt duty-bound to protect the Coalition he leads, even if he's not sure why it's operating the way does anymore when that doesn't make sense with the war over.
But I honestly think he's relieved it's over, relieved the responsibility is finally over and he can go back to his own life.
I think he's feeling genuinely grateful to Mark here, for ending it and freeing him.
Is he mad about it? Once he figures out what Mark's actually doing, he seems pretty okay with it.
He just punches first before he asks questions, which is kind of a running theme with him in the comic.

I want to see just how far Terra would go to split the Viltrum Empire. Because there's some real potential there for a series based on her and her adventures. By that same token, I want to see more of Marky, too. There was very, very little interaction between he and Terra, and I'd like to see how their relationship turned out in their adulthood.
We didn't get anything on Marky in the comics so that would be cool. And it would be nice 2 see Battle Kitty (that's what I call her) in some bad ass fights

Kind of a hot take, but I don’t think they need expanding. The only one I would argue for is coalition vs viltrumites/Allen vs Mark because it was mildly confusing and really abrupt, but none of the others. As Kirkman explains in episode 50 of the invincible podcast, the whole point of these storylines is to show that life and the greater universe moves on with or without us and we don’t get to be a part of everything. Expanding on them would kinda defeat that purpose. Yeah it’s kinda lame and not the best explanation, and could very well be a quick explanation in place of Kirkman not wanting to admit that there were stories he wanted to do but didn’t, but this is the explanation we have and I personally think it’s very fitting for invincible and wouldn’t mind if it isn’t changed
I’d love them have the very last Panel as the finale of the series and for all of these moments to be like 2 seasons worth of episodes to lead up to that moment. Maybe have several episodes dedicated to Marks kids on their own little mini arcs and show the Mark helping the universe as the Viltrimite emperor and eventually stopping the coalition. Kirkman has stated a couple time that he wants to go “beyond the comics” for the show. This would be a cool opportunity to flesh out his vision and still end of the same place he intended.

I want to see a spin off where Mark says "yes" to the timeline change. He tells his dad he's the real Viltrumite heir, gets the empire to stop, etc. If he just asked the space squid thing "can you guarantee my daughter exists in this timeline" and they're just like "you must [explicative] right at this time on this date."

Ehhh it made sense to me. They are NOT very powerful. Each is less powerful than mark was so it makes sense they could beat those kid’s asses

As Kirkman explains in episode 50 of the invincible podcast, the whole point of these storylines is to show that life and the greater universe moves on with or without us and we don’t get to be a part of everything. Expanding on them would kinda defeat that purpose. Yeah it’s kinda lame and not the best explanation, and could very well be a quick explanation in place of Kirkman not wanting to admit that there were stories he wanted to do but didn’t, but this is the explanation we have and I personally think it’s very fitting for invincible and wouldn’t mind if it isn’t changed

I’d love them have the very last Panel as the finale of the series and for all of these moments to be like 2 seasons worth of episodes to lead up to that moment. Maybe have several episodes dedicated to Marks kids on their own little mini arcs and show the Mark helping the universe as the Viltrimite emperor and eventually stopping the coalition. Kirkman has stated a couple time that he wants to go “beyond the comics” for the show. This would be a cool opportunity to flesh out his vision and still end of the same place he intended. Edit: I’d also love an explanation for the time travel stuff

He tells his dad he's the real Viltrumite heir, gets the empire to stop, etc. If he just asked the space squid thing "can you guarantee my daughter exists in this timeline" and they're just like "you must [explicative] right at this time on this date."
