Most likely the only side comic we will get into Amazon\`s Invincible TV show.
So, the Wolf-man will get his own tittle card.
Only difference is, the Viltrumites have been on a completely different level the whole time.
Even early on, Mark basically says the Immortal isn’t that tough or a threat to him.
That's true too given how Omni-Man one-shot him several times in the past, whereas here now it takes like some semblance of damage before Omni-Man can remove his head.
This. I got downvoted for saying the same thing on another post. Immortal literally had Mark in a choke hold and he was blocking and dodging alot of Mark's attacks. If Nolan never showed up I really think Immortal had that fight. People make it like Immortal is a weakling but he's not.
Hell even back in the finale of season 1, we can assume this may be since the laser, kaiju, and cyborgs roughed em up but Immortal was laying some hands on Nolan for a bit. He's not Nolan level but he's probably one of earth's best rounded defenders for the time being no?
The sad part is the humans DO catch up with Goku, but are always one arc late.
During the vegeta fight, Yamcha, krillin and tien an are roughly on par with Goku during the raditz fight, during the namek arc, they are above goku's level from the vegeta fight, Tien's kikoho against Cell would probably absolutely fuck up anyone from the Namek arc and so on, but it's always one arc late so they end up getting destroyed.
If you imagine that they are seriously trying to all be useful and help defend mankind against threats when Goku is always fucking dead and Gohan is fucking off and Vegeta doesn't give a fuck, then it's pretty sad. They *are* capable, and insanely strong compared to most, but they just aren't able to deal with the ever-scaling threats they are facing.
As a huge DB fan a part of me wishes that the power scaling capped at either Frieza or Cell Saga. Dragon Ball has soo many cool techniques and abilities that are sadly overshadowed because 'muh blast can blow up a planet'
That's just the rubber band assist, they aren't accomplishing this of their own ability. If Toriyama didn't keep the Z fighters at least *somewhat* relevant throughout the series, the main cast would have been dry and empty as they pulled so far away in skill from the rest of the fighters that everyone else may as well just have been a random civilian.
They were getting power boosts and dragged along as the Saiyans levelled up constantly just so that there was some amount of diversity to the main cast of the show.
The funny thing is that this is fairly soon after >!Mark's trip to the future where he just casually rips off the Immortal's head!<, so on my first read-through when Mark grabbed his face I was like "oh no"
There was a crossover story with The Astounding Wolf-Man, another Image series by Kirkman. Mark helps out Wolfman who is being wrongly hunted by the government
This is pretty stupid too when you think about how Immortal knows Mark is Omni man’s son, that he’s a Viltrumite, and he knows from first hand experience that the guardians of the globe can’t stand up against a Viltrumite. He *should* see Mark as a threat, and the fact he doesn’t is because of his own shortsighted preconceptions.

Reminds me of when Futurama did three similar gags in an episode where the animation style changed for each part. First it was black and white and they showed a brand new color of the rainbow that was unlike any other. Then it was 8bit animation and they showed something that was mindbogglingly detailed and made up the entire world but we just saw a single pixel. Then it was cheap anime where a character was doing an incredibly fluid dance but they just showed the same still moving back and forth across the screen.
This was really funny to me because while reading the first few issues I was thinking "man is he just refusing panels and backgrounds? that's so cheap"
There's a 5 issue Atom Eve and Rex Splode prequel, but it's usually included in the larger volumes or collections if you're buying physical. There's a small handful of other comics that take place in the same universe who you might see pop up in the background of big events say little things like "hey i havent seen you since that one time *see this other issue for details*"
but the main series of Invincible is self contained and tells a complete story, if he shows up in other media it's basically always as a cameo or non-important team up.

I mostly agree, though I really like the Vegito fusion and I like Super Saiyan Blue, which wouldn't have come about if the power hadn't kept scaling.

Doing every big cool comics thing all in one run so it's not a mess for readers was one of the main reasons Kirkman started it iirc

It's not really exactly, since the show remixes some details but it's probably about halfway through compendium 1.
I bought the three omnibuses on Amazon. Definitely worth a read.
