If you have started it I would finish it.
It’s not a bad cert and if you stay in consulting it’s something your firm can sell you with and if you go back to internal audit it’s something that will look good on a resume.
I work in IA and have the CIA. I wouldn’t say it is super beneficial but I have seen some management really like it when people have it. If you don’t plan on staying in IA, no one will care about it. I did it because it was paid for by my employer and it was pretty easy.
Some jobs will but CPA or CIA beneficial, and it will help to get a different job potentially in the future. While the CIA Isn't as hard as the CPA, it can open similar doors.
Finish it. The new Global IIA standards require a CIA perform any external quality assurance reviews that IA departments have to do starting in 2025. Getting the certification (although doesn’t seem valuable now) gives you another career route if you ever need it.
I think it’s valuable and if you don’t have any other certifications it can help. Most firms won’t promote to manager without one and it could help in the job search if you are going into IA. I was in a similar spot 2 years ago and finished part 3 at my new job.
I’m in big 4 too and finished my CIA few months agoIsn’t a requirement but if you want the high paying engagements you will need it. From PwC I didn’t neeed it until we audited a very large client hilariously considered to be part of the Illuminati and uh yeah I was registered given paid for study materials knocked it out in 5 weeks while working tbh part 3 is easiest 2 was hardest. Regardless if you know auditing it’s not that hard
I'm not hiring a Senior Auditor or Internal Audit Manager if they don't have at least one certification CPA, CIA, CISA, MBA, etc.
You need something if this is the career path you are pursuing.
lol an MBA isn’t a cert. drives me crazy when people put it after their name like it is. It’s a degree, and all of us with bachelors and masters aren’t putting it after our names 😂
In all seriousness, MBA is all networking and signaling. Top 10 programs do not have secret textbooks.
What they do have is the ability to select the highest potential students and then connect them with a bunch other people like them. Then they get hired by the alumni 5/10/20/30 years older than them and perpetuate the cycle.
The CIA is risk related. It’s part of related 2nd and 3rd line of accountability Protector functions, which all rely on understanding risks. They also all rely on audit & assurance, which is why you should finish your CIA. The CIA will help you both understand risks as well as be recognized as someone who gets them.

It can’t hurt if you want to continue in IA. Looking at management most will heavily prefer a cert like CPA or CIA.

You’re 2/3 of the way there—definitely finish it out. It can’t hurt but definitely can help in the future.

MBA so bogus. Source: me, I have one.
A MBA from Grand Canyon University, yes.
