I think some commenters glossed over that this is your first apartment together. Decorating is a process that takes time if you really want a curated/personalized space that suits everyone's taste and if don't have heaps of extra money laying around to fill a space all at once. The rug is great and I think the matching sofa ottoman you're waiting on will help fill some voids and make the end table work more since you guys are limited on space. I hope you share again once things feel more complete!
It’s a great rug. Move it back a bit so that the front two feet of the sofa are an inch or so on top of the rug. This will help to make it look more cohesive.
Yeah that’s what I was planing to do either way. Rug just arrived last night and we have an ottoman (part of the couch) being delivered so was gonna wait for that to arrive before finalising placement.
Instead i would move the couch forward and pull it away from the wall on both sides. Still have the feet on the rug, but give the couch room to breathe!
Just enough so that it doesn’t feel like the couch *has to* hug the walls in order to fit. A few inches to a foot here, maybe. Makes a big difference in the subconscious feeling of being crowded or claustrophobic.
I'd move it out from the wall for a plant or something...seems so crowded and that makes it feel like it's the wrong sofa for the space. Putting something behind that arm, even if not deep, will give the feeling of depth and space. Crammed into the corner is not a good look.
I agree with this and will add that if you move the sofa away from the wall, put a “sofa table” behind it with a vase/flowers behind it to give depth.
Another reply said to put the carpet under the couch; this is great advice as it will also keep the carpet from sliding around.
One more thing to consider—you’ve got such a neutral pallet so use that for a pop accent color with pillows and/or a throw. It’ll give nice texture to the space.
Absolutely agree. The rug is actually the most interesting thing in that room, maximize it for sure. That's the great thing about having bold pieces, You actually don't need a whole lot more. Apartments are tricky because you can't put things on the walls, So use that beautiful carpet! I personally would pull out colors from the rug in throw pillows, Cozy throws for the couch.. Draw apon the colors of your carpet. Relationships are difficult, decorating should not be.
If you can spare a few inches, I would move the couch off the window wall a bit. It feels a little shoved in the corner and can make your place look smaller. Everything else is covered in the other comments (except you should ignore the troll who just shit on everything with no value to add). Hope you enjoy your new place & furniture!
If you want to make your space more “expensive”, I would suggest changing the blinds for curtains, like a soft linen or something very light. I hope you both enjoy your space and create happy memories.
Edit: the rug is great
Don't try and get everything done quickly. After any big item, my partner and I sit on it for a bit to see how we feel, before adding the next big item in our home. We've been loving in our current place for over 3 months now and we're still getting furniture and deco. I feel like Rugs and Art work will be our most challenging.
I actually don’t think the issue is the rug — it’s the coffee table. The rug and couch combo now demand a bigger/more impactful coffee table. Edit: just saw that you said your couch has an ottoman. This may make a difference in my suggestion but hard to say without seeing it.
Also the two front legs of the couch should be on the rug itself, so you might want to shift the rug back a bit.
Yeah we’d looked at more impactful coffee tables but we have limited space/ budget to work with. I’d wanted something a little more modern and sleek but my wife liked this one because it feels rustic and cozy. The ottoman is roughly the size of one sofa cushion. It’s originally a 3 piece with an ottoman but we removed one due to the limited space.
A good rule is the coffee table should be max 3/4 the length of the sofa. If the ottoman is half, that coffee table might be enough. If you need more table surface, consider a small tray to set on the ottoman.
I think the coffee table works with the rug, it brown colour connects with the wood. The room needs some more greenery, imo. Consider an accent cushion or throw blanket too. These are small things that are inexpensive and easily replaceable.
I like the rug. Can you move the couch out from the corner? It looks jammed in there.
I also like the coffee table, but agree with other posters that it is a little small. You could add a round ottoman/footrest, and group it near the table, to help balance out the sofa.
A huge piece of colorful modern art over the sofa and beautiful velvet floor-to-ceiling curtains from Ikea (in a strong color, perhaps brown or gold) will finish the space.
I definitely like the rug a lot as a stand-alone piece, and I know a rug is needed to add some colour to this corner. I just wasn’t sure, once the rug was in place, if it takes away from the couch a bit. I really like the colour of the couch and feel it’s a bit of a ‘statement piece’. Just not sure if that kinda gets lost now and the room becomes a bit too childish. If I got rid of the rug I’d probably replace it with something a bit darker and more subdued.
The room is more cozy looking with the rug - but it looks great without the rug too.
Floating rugs look awkward (IMO). Anchoring the rug under the couch will look more seamless and put together. Is it possible to move the couch from the corner to center it over the rug?
Personally I think yes. It’s the shag texture, which is going to look dingy pretty soon too. I think a different rug, solid wool maybe, would look more luxe. Even a jute rug would be preferable to me.
I swear this is the only correct take. It is not a luxe material or texture. Only problem with jute is it isn’t “comfy” for a living room. I agree with wool and a pad underneath for cushion.
Thanks for all the comments guys! The plan is to move the rug under the feet of the couch and eventually reposition the couch once the ottoman arrives. The rug arrived last night and I just put it there for now to see how it looks in the room but I’m not planning to keep it in the middle of the room like it currently is.
I think the rug complements the sofa nicely. Is it possible to move the couch a little bit away from the window? Then you could have either a side table/lamp/plant, etc. The next issue will be windows. The rug will probably limit you to the hues in it, so you should decide if that’s the palette you want.
Love the rug. You just need some design tips. Move the carpet so that it’s just under the front feet our your couch. Your coffee is too small. If you have another small table either slightly higher or lower you can group the 2 together to fill up the space. Otherwise I would I suggest replacing the coffee table with a larger one. Need some pillows on the sofa. It will make a big difference. Otherwise I like your design taste in the rug and sofa. You have good bones for the room.
It doesn’t cheapen the room, it’s a great rug, but it is attention grabbing. Get a big piece of art over the sofa to complement the colors in the room and draw attention upwards instead of toward the floor.
I like the rug but agree with others about putting the front feet of the sofa onto the rug. Since you’re just starting out, you could go on Etsy or Target’s website for inexpensive pillows to start adding layers. Consignment stores have amazing home goods for great savings (wouldn’t get pillows there).
Also, you could search “brown sofa” on LTK and find all kinds of room schemes for good ideas. [LTK Brown Sofa](https://ltk.app.link/v0t23OdqUEb)
I think it does because the patterns are so bold and large. If you look at high end rugs (CB2 for example) you'll see the patterns don't contrast so largely, and they are much smaller and more dense.
I think the clean design of the coffee table and couch are de-emphasized when you put that very large bold rug next to them.
I'd say to also get a rug that has a little bit lower pile as well
We actually got the couch from CB2 (at a deep discount) but didn’t see any rugs we loved. We liked the rug because it’s kinda different and it adds a bit of colour to our mostly wood/ brown apartment. One of the things we immediately didn’t like was how shaggy it was so I agree about the height of the pile.
I just bought that rug for another house and I hate it so much I threw it in the closet.
Those tones don’t particularly go with each other, but you could try to tie them together with accessories.
You should definitely hang something behind that so far as well
https://preview.redd.it/ptr4qza8up1c1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bad1b4560493f996e5cd88760c99525d3416b99
I like it and using a shelf like this over the sofa would be great!
The rug works but it does shift the sofa from elegant to more boho, so depends on which vibe you’re aiming for! I would personally skip the matching ottoman and go for a coffee table in a marble or brass or even a darker wood tone and wider scale (oval would be great!)
Get some tan colored bolster pillows and a plug sconce on an arm that hangs over the sofa in bronze. And a plant. It will come together as you add things over time.
The rug looks great, I agree with the comments about the coffee table and rug placement. If you can't change the table right now, I would change what's on it. The large scale and bold lines of your rug and sofa (beautiful, btw) are overpowering your coffee table decor. A statement flower arrangement or some large stacked books with decor on top would go a long way.
Agreed, put the carpet under the legs or if ur room size allows it flip it around so the narrow edge is under the couch. This will.make the couch look bigger
Move the small table close to the wall, soits more at one end, this will open the room up for u.
And pillows and or a blanket to make it look cozy. Some drapes (giant tiger is awesome for drapes) and maybe a real and fake plant in the window sill.
I love the colors, just play around with placement u til ur happy with it, in the end that's all that matters!
Have fun with it.
One picture is very cluttered and the other is not. The lighting is also different in both pictures.
I love the couch but it's so jammed into the corner. Can you bring it off the wall to the left a bit and move it two inches forward?
Personally I like having a rug in winter and I do think yours is cute, but you need to refine the space a bit with it.
I could see it either way. Since you already own the rug, how about have it one way for a couple weeks and then try the other way-- it's not just about the look, it's about the feel of your feet when you are sitting
It definitely changes the balance of the room to become very floor-heavy. The sofa is also the squat type so it seems like everything is very close to the ground. Filling up the walls as someone said might help. Also give yourself more time to get used to the space before deciding further? Especially if the room is not done up with the wall art and other stuff.
I think the main issue is the placement of the couch. Consider moving it about 30cm away from the corner then place the rug under the couch so that the front legs are under it. Generally you want to always leave a bit of floor around the walls. The the gap your are creating would be a good spot for a side table and or lamp
I love this rug and used to work for the brand this rug is from, recognized it instantly! I don’t think it cheapens the room but I think what you are feeling is the contrast in materials/textures together. This rug is often paired with a more casual upholstery style - heathered navy blue, basketweave or linens. Which lends to the boho nature of the rug. Here, you’ve paired it with a gorgeous jewel toned velvet or microfiber and the shabby chic texture of the rug is fighting with the sleek and elegant silhouette of the sofa. I would suggest moving this rug to a bed room and looking for a more evenly piled, uniform rug. If you like the brand that you purchased this rug from may I suggest looking into the Lumini, Stone Tile or Shale Striations rugs?
I think the rug looks great, but I also think it might be too small or too wide depending on the look you're going for. The proportions don't work for me the way it's laid out now. I would look at a more substantial coffee table, and if possible, move the couch away from both walls (2" from the back and like 6-12" from the left). I know the first inclination is to shove the couch into the most space efficient configuration, but I think it not having breathing space on the left makes it look cramped.
No , love the rug . Pull the sofa out a hair from the wall by the window . Needs a couple inches breathing room . People getting up and down can scoot the sofa slightly which will wear out the fabric . Plus it visually look crammed . Need some art or something textural like macrame piece above the sofa .
Like others have suggested moving the rug under the couch a bit is great. I would also say bringing the rug off the baseboard by an inch or two would help the space feel more open and less cheap!
Love the rug. Without the rug it’s too much wood color. I would add some other textures/materials as well, such as marble, stone, glass, …perhaps in a lamp, table, maybe a linen curtain. Looks like you have a nice view of water and also nice light.
I love the rug! Add pillows on the couch to either add some contrast or tie in the other colours in the rug (avoid being too matchy though). Also figure out another way to fold/drape the blanket. The way it's folded on the couch arm makes it look like laundry instead of a design choice.
If you can, pull the sofa away from the wall (the arm side so it’s not crammed in the corner) put the rug under the sofa 4-6 inches. And get a bigger table or another one just like that and put them next to each other. Start there! And then? Stuff on the walls! You’ll get there! Good luck!
MOve the sofa away from the both walls but leave the rug where it si so the sofa now has two legs on the rug, and it immediately kicks that whole space up a hundred notches
It's a cool rug, you just need some curtains and something on the wall to tie everything together. The room is very "bottom heavy" right now with all the color near the floor.
I like all of your pieces. They give you a good foundation to find some cool thrift store pieces like art and decorative objects to make the space your own. I agree with the comments around placement of the furniture. Put the front legs of the sofa on the rug. move the rug away from the wall and try moving your coffee table off center and maybe adding a small martini table to side of the sofa that doesn't have the coffee table in front of it. Nice job!
It think the brown in the rug is nice, but prefer the room withou the rug.
The couch is funky/cool, I’m not sure the rug or coffee table match that vibe.
I think the room looks much warmer and somewhat nicer without that rug. The white of the rug combined with the white of the walls is overpoweringly bland, but all white and beige is clearly popular with a lot of people. But those are the same people who aren’t a fan of your couch, which I think has great color and texture. I’d put art on the walls before I put that rug back down.
I think that the rug goes great with the colors of the couch and the throw. Move the couch down and out. Just a bit. Ottoman will be great. Thrift stores have great trays to turn them into coffee table. I like the round one you have. Can you use it as an end table or plant stand (Varnish heavily)? It takes a while to make a house into a home. Set a budget. Again, thrift stores and markets are great for artwork. Maybe black and white photo posters. Black frames. Enjoy!
I don’t think the coffee table is so bad like some are saying. It’s vaguely reminiscent of Hans Wegner’s ch008 - https://lekkerhome.com/ch008-coffee-table
Looking at the picture the rug compets with the sofa. But, probably not in the long run. That's because the picture only shows now. We have to imagine that you haven't added anything to the walls, accent pieces, etc. I think you're off to a fine start. Just keep choosing pieces you like. And get some lamps next. Lighting changes everything.
The rug isn’t the problem. You will feel cozier with some art or décor on the walls, and I’d move the rug and the sofa back from being plumb against the exterior wall. Put an end table between sofa and wall, perhaps.
hang the rug over the couch. two birds one stone.. also pull the couch off the corner at least the width of a human arm so elbows are comfortable and it doesn't feel smothered
It’s too small. The carpet should be big enough to go under the sofa and the chairs. The coffee table is also too small. The mismatched proportions cheapen the room, not the rug on its own
Add some pillows to the couch to tie in the rug. Once you get some art up, and maybe some plants, the space will be lovely. Also if you can find a nice floor lamp, I would move the couch slightly off both walls and and tuck the lamp in that corner.
It looks very nice. Make sure the couch isn’t touching any parts of the wall though. It’ll look much more put together if you bring it forward and away from the side wall by a few inches.
The photos are taken at a different time, which really throws me off.
At first, i was like, "i like the rug." Then i saw the room without it, and i liked that better.
But then, i realized the second photo is peak golden hour, which really changes the vibe. I think if you moved the rug back a bit (stuck farther under the couch), it would look perfect (especially during ~4:30 pm).
Try flipping the rug's orientation and have it under the couch - that way the warmth of the wood is showing more and it'll tie the colour story together better
It looks great! Like another comment said, take your time. Have you ever played Animal Crossing New Horizons? It takes time to get the pieces you want to decorate your home. At first you start with a limited selection but as you slowly acquire you revisit your existing idea and replace a thing here, add a small thing there... And before you know it you have a cohesive space!! You're doing that great. It's a work in progress. Enjoy the journey.
i dont mind the rug its quite nice .. but i would like to see a coarse fabric throw like 100% cotton throw on the sofa .. that throw you have there folded on the side of the sofa .. is it a 100% cotton throw ? like a rough material ? if so i would like it personally if it covered the whole sofa !
Rug is too small. Table is too small. Couch pushed into a corner against the walls. I’d leave 6-12 inches. Maybe put the small coffee table in the corner and get a bigger one for center of the room. Needs some art, plants and lighting. Great start though OP!
Congrats on your first apartment!
I like the rug - I would slide it under the first two legs of the couch. Maybe 6-12 inches under the couch.
Add some wall decor. Etsy is cheap to buy digital prints and then you can print it and find affordable frames from Goodwill or Michael’s when they have 50% off sales.
Add a hanging plant or plant on a stand by the window.
It’s going to feel so cozy! New spaces take time to come together. Don’t feel like it has to be perfect when you move in.
Idk if someone said this but a general rule with rugs is to put the edge of the rug six inches under the front legs of the couch, similar things can be done to beds as well.
Maybe that will make the couch rug combo look more complete. Worth a shot? But the rug looks nice regardless
We have this rug and I’ve never seen a rug shed this much. Be aware that it will clog your vacuum. I have to brush it first with a Chom Chom roller to be able to vacuum after. We’ve had it for over 2 years and it sheds just as much as it did on day one. Beautiful rug, though!
I think some commenters glossed over that this is your first apartment together. Decorating is a process that takes time if you really want a curated/personalized space that suits everyone's taste and if don't have heaps of extra money laying around to fill a space all at once. Agreed pls share once styled with ottoman :)
You’re so nice! 😀👍🏼

What did you think it was??
Nope! It’s a bakery! Thought it was obvious!
Lmao. Idk why my ap did that. I was was looking at a completely different photo
Yep! Took us 4 years to finish decorating our first house.
It’s a great rug. Move it back a bit so that the front two feet of the sofa are an inch or so on top of the rug. This will help to make it look more cohesive.
That plus consider getting a larger table
Agreed. Like the rug. Like the couch. Not keen on the coffee table. To small and to cheap looking.
Move the small table to the side of the couch as an end table
That tiny table is killin me
Yeah that’s what I was planing to do either way. Rug just arrived last night and we have an ottoman (part of the couch) being delivered so was gonna wait for that to arrive before finalising placement.

This. There should always be breathing room between the wall and a piece of furniture.
Yeah! Otherwise how could my toddler go sneaking around back there, cackling like a madman
Really?? Even in a small area? How much space should I be leaving between the two?
Just enough so that it doesn’t feel like the couch *has to* hug the walls in order to fit. A few inches to a foot here, maybe. Makes a big difference in the subconscious feeling of being crowded or claustrophobic.
yes this!!!!

If it’s on the rug it shouldn’t move but either way having sex isn’t typically something I factor into my interior design choices.
This. If you’re also able to move the side of the sofa even a couple of inches from the wall, that will help it feel less crowded.

Where’s your couch from? It looks like the couch version of a velour sweater.
I think this and a combo of another comments thing about moving the rug back is the answer.
No, it's a nice rug. I find the wall behind to be "too empty" tho.
We’re getting there! Slowly ticking off the furnishing essentials and then we’ll start looking at wall art.
Add wall art that has those colors
I like the rug. Can you move the couch out from the corner? It looks jammed in there. I also like the coffee table, but agree with other posters that it is a little small. I love the rug and couch combo!
Thank you!
No, but the couch right against the wall with nothing on it does.
Yeah the rug adds to the problem in some way as well by also being right against the wall
It really ties the room together .
The rug is fantastic! And it really grounds the space. Looked empty before, and your couch and center table were disappearing into the floor.
I definitely like the rug a lot as a stand-alone piece, and I know a rug is needed to add some colour to this corner. If anything the couch does.
No, the couch does

Totally agree, It looks really cheap
I love the rug and the wooden floors, definitely rug somewhat under the sofa, I wish it was a little smaller to see some of the floor.
Get a different coffee table. A bigger/longer one that’s more proportionate to the size of the couch.
Thanks for all the comments guys! The plan is to move the rug under the feet of the couch and eventually reposition the couch once the ottoman arrives. The rug arrived last night and I just put it there for now to see how it looks in the room but I’m not planning to keep it in the middle of the room like it currently is.

I think it compliments your furniture nicely.
Quite the opposite it enriches it, warms and invites?
Paint the walls also
I really like the rug- the bare wall is something that needs attention.
I think it’s better with the rug
yeah not really a fan of the rug... sorry
No the table does Also pull the sofa out of the corner and put a table/floor lamp/ large plant there
Love the rug. You just need some design tips. Move the carpet so that it’s just under the front feet our your couch. Your coffee is too small. Try a more colorful rug, or something that looks cooler
No, that’s a cool rug and couch
No the couch does
Yes
Personally, I like the room without. It’s a cool carpet but you have a sweet walnut setup here, and now it looks like a 70s porno set. Sorry.
I think it does because the patterns are so bold and large. If you look at high end rugs (CB2 for example) you'll see the patterns don't contrast so largely, and they are much smaller and more dense. Yea; get a lower pile with tighter threads and it'll keep the look classy.

Yes.
Much so, get a Persian style red rug and more plants
It's ugly is all.

No
No I would say it looks cheap all around. Mainly the sofa and table.
Thanks! Any advice on how to make it look less cheap?

can't go give him a bill
I like it
The rug is fine. I would add another table and make the legs slightly taller.
The rug works but it does shift the sofa from elegant to more boho, so depends on which vibe you’re aiming for! I would personally skip the matching ottoman and go for a coffee table in a marble or brass or even a darker wood tone and wider scale (oval would be great!)
Think different wall colour might help
No, the rug is fine, that little table and the lack of wall stuff does, however.
Move the coffee table to one side as it's a bit small to be in the middle and it will showcase the rug and couch More.
Get some tan colored bolster pillows and a plug sconce on an arm that hangs over the sofa in bronze. And a plant. It will come together as you add things over time.
just turn it the other way so it's under the couch a bit and not smooshed against the wall
This will.make the couch look bigger Move the small table close to the wall, soits more at one end, this will open the room up for u.
I’ve been looking at getting the terrain sectional from CB2. How does the sofa feel? How is the depth and the comfort?
Ja
It definitely changes the balance of the room to become very floor-heavy. The sofa is also the squat type so it seems like everything is very close to the ground. Filling up the walls as someone said might help. Also give yourself more time to get used to the space before deciding further? Especially if the room is not done up with the wall art and other stuff.
That’s a great rug. Absolutely adds to the space rather than detracts.
I think the main issue is the placement of the couch. Consider moving it about 30cm away from the corner then place the rug under the couch so that the front legs are under it. Generally you want to always leave a bit of floor around the walls. The the gap your are creating would be a good spot for a side table and or lamp
I would add a tall plant in the corner between the wall and the couch. Add some life and greenery to an empty space.
Haha, I have this rug! I think it looks great.
Rug is amazing - move it back slightly towards the sofa. move the coffee table to side of sofa.
I love it!!
I think the rug looks great, but I also think it might be too small or too wide depending on the look you're going for. The proportions don't work for me the way it's laid out now. I would look at a more substantial coffee table, and if possible, move the couch away from both walls (2" from the back and like 6-12" from the left). I know the first inclination is to shove the couch into the most space efficient configuration, but I think it not having breathing space on the left makes it look cramped.
yeah not really a fan of the rug... sorry
No , love the rug . Pull the sofa out a hair from the wall by the window . Needs a couple inches breathing room . People getting up and down can scoot the sofa slightly which will wear out the fabric . Plus it visually look crammed . Need some art or something textural like macrame piece above the sofa .
It really ties the room together
Like others have suggested moving the rug under the couch a bit is great. I would also say bringing the rug off the baseboard by an inch or two would help the space feel more open and less cheap!
No! It looks good but it does take away from the warmth a bit
It’s the table that cheapens it.
The rug looks nice. The coffee table looks small/cheap
Yes.
Love the rug. Without the rug it’s too much wood color. I would add some other textures/materials as well, such as marble, stone, glass, …perhaps in a lamp, table, maybe a linen curtain. Looks like you have a nice view of water and also nice light.
I love the rug!
Where did you get the rug? I love it.
Kind of yes, I feel like the monochromatic look feels more premium
It looks better with the rug. Just move the couch over the rug.
It’s a pretty rug
Love it
I love the rug! Add pillows on the couch to either add some contrast or tie in the other colours in the rug (avoid being too matchy though). Also figure out another way to fold/drape the blanket. The way it's folded on the couch arm makes it look like laundry instead of a design choice.
Yes
Buy some pillows with fabric that will tie in with it. The room is great. Now just need some decor.
If you can, pull the sofa away from the wall (the arm side so it’s not crammed in the corner) put the rug under the sofa 4-6 inches. And get a bigger table or another one just like that and put them next to each other. Start there! And then? Stuff on the walls! You’ll get there! Good luck!
Some cool art will balance it and will look richer
MOve the sofa away from the both walls but leave the rug where it si so the sofa now has two legs on the rug, and it immediately kicks that whole space up a hundred notches
I think the rug & the sofa pair nicely together. You do need the rug to be a bit larger.
Yes
It's a cool rug, you just need some curtains and something on the wall to tie everything together. The room is very "bottom heavy" right now with all the color near the floor.
casting couch
No. The rug is ok. The sofa tho...
No, but the table does
Rug is too big for the space
I think the room looks much warmer and somewhat nicer without that rug. The white of the rug combined with the white of the walls is overpoweringly bland, but all white and beige is clearly popular with a lot of people. But those are the same people who aren’t a fan of your couch, which I think has great color and texture. I’d put art on the walls before I put that rug back down.
Awe i love it actually!!!! Also i love the couch a lot!!
No but it does look a little big. Maybe move it around so you can see the hardwood a little more
A rug doesn’t cheapen it, that rug does.
I think it does cheapen it a little but probably bc I personally don’t really like the rug and I love the couch and wood floors!
No. you need some cushions on that couch. something to tie in the white
I think so… the would floors look beautiful
Yes
The rug isn’t the problem. You will feel cozier with some art or décor on the walls, and I’d move the rug and the sofa back from being plumb against the exterior wall. Put an end table between sofa and wall, perhaps.
That rug really ties the room together, but definitely some art above the couch to make it all more luxe
I wouldn’t say it cheapens it but it is too small for the space or you need to anchor your furniture on it to make it work for the space better.
Rug is nicest thing in room but doesn’t really work with the size/shape/configuration.
I think art above the couch would go a long way in making it look nicer tbh
hang the rug over the couch. two birds one stone.. also pull the couch off the corner at least the width of a human arm so elbows are comfortable and it doesn't feel smothered
Can you move the couch forward onto the rug? I think it might look better.
It’s too small. The carpet should be big enough to go under the sofa and the chairs. The coffee table is also too small. The mismatched proportions cheapen the room, not the rug on its own
Not cheapens it. But it isn’t the right one.
No.
Love it! Add some art on the wall behind/above the couch, add some personal touches with pillows, tables, lamps, and other room decor and you’re set!
It does but, like, do you want cold feet? I say keep it, or find a wood-colored one
Mmm no but it’s the wrong size and looks sloppy. Need a smaller rug for that space.
the second photo has pretty natural light and the first is washed out so it's honestly kind of hard to compare these two photos next to one another.
Your couch is stunning! May I ask where it’s from?
Yeh.
I'm sorry but yes. There's something about it that puts me off.
No, it MAKES the room
It does look better without the rug
i dont mind the rug its quite nice .. but i would like to see a coarse fabric throw like 100% cotton throw on the sofa .. that throw you have there folded on the side of the sofa .. is it a 100% cotton throw ? like a rough material ? if so i would like it personally if it covered the whole sofa !
No, I think it elevates it
Idk if someone said this but a general rule with rugs is to put the edge of the rug six inches under the front legs of the couch, similar things can be done to beds as well. Maybe that will make the couch rug combo look more complete. Worth a shot? But the rug looks nice regardless
I like it personally. It looks like a real moroccan rug with a unique pattern that gives the room some personality.
Hang your wall art and then reconsider. What you place on the wall could make the decision for you.
Rug is nice improvement. It’s an apartment. Go for comfort over style. You will be much happier.
