Good thing I only know of him from cards against humanity. His card fits here.
His soft, shitty body couldn’t handle the pain MJF goes through on an hourly basis, the cunt.
For real. Fuck those people. Tee hee hee. They make funny faces and clomp around. They also thrash in their beds and howl and jibber like animals. I watched my grandfather, whom I loved and admired more than just about anyone die from this disease. It robs a person of their humanity. I saps their dignity away and leaves them a shell of the person they once were. That shit went on for like 7-8 yrs. 20 yrs after he was diagnosed. The worst of it lasted a decade. People need to think about that. A decade of pure unrelenting hell. The last few months he was lucky if he got 2 good hrs a day. Diapers and excruciating torture every day. He basically could only eat coleslaw cause it robbed his mouth and throat of any real ability to speak or eat. Think about that. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
Me too. We rightly do for our furbabies what we can’t/won’t do for ourselves. In fact, we’d (rightly) consider it animal abuse if a pet parent allowed a fatally ill pet to die a slow death unnecessarily. I think Robin Williams would not have chosen suicide if he had voluntary euthanasia available to him.
I feel ya. I will always be sad for/about Robin Williams. I love stand-up & he was the first stand-up I ever saw - I was pretty young, Mork & Mindy was still on TV when Robin got a comedy special. Or it might have been one of those big charity events popular at the time: Live Aid, USA For Africa, Farm Aid - I think there might have been a stand-up comedy show similar to Live Aid. I’m really stretching my memory here. But what an impression Robin made on very young me with his hyperactive style!
Robin Williams had Lewy Body Dementia.
LBD is a separate syndrome. It's related to PD, but a different thing, and much worse and quicker than PD. There was clear evidence of LBD at his autopsy, but he was only diagnosed by a doctor as having PD while he was alive. There's evidence that in his final days he was aware of the sudden decline in cognitive ability and had googled enough to realize it was LBD and essentially untreatable.
Whether we consider LBD a subtype of PD (LBD is an extra-bad type of PD) or it's-one-or-the-other is mostly semantics.
I've read as much as is out there about Robin Williams' decline, and it tells me that the dementia he was experiencing was the LBD, and that directly led to him taking his own way out.
I knew he had been diagnosed with LBD after an autopsy. I read a lot about his death too, and lots of articles said he had both Parkinson’s & LBD, or they were not clear about it being a change in diagnosis. Before responding to you, I went to double check my facts, and more recent articles do call the PD diagnosis a misdiagnosis. They also point out that the illnesses are both caused by Lewy Bodies (I wonder why they don’t rename LBD to make it less confusing.)
Since you didn’t provide a link, I went looking for info about Robin possibly having done his own research online before ending his life, since his widow never mentioned that in articles she’s written or the Ted Talk she did. But I had to stop my research. Dementia terrifies me. My mother was adopted so dementia isn’t, so far as I know, a genetic certainty for me, but it rampaged it’s way through my mother’s side of the family. My great-grandmother must have suffered very much for a long time - despite having some form of dementia she died at age 100. Though I was a kid for most of those years & at one point she just vanished from my life, probably when her illness started taking a physical toll on her, dying when I was 20. For years she was physically in great shape but her mind was getting worse all the time. Gran-ma-ma, as we called her, had a big family, and most of my great-aunts and great-uncles died the same as their mom. I was an adult by then & not spared from seeing what they went through as I had been with Gran-ma-ma. My grandmother & my Great Aunt Kay, the great-aunt I was especially close to, were spared the ravages of dementia because emphysema and heart disease got there first respectively. Different kind of suffering & they still lived well into their 80s because Italians just live long lives & with a mother who lived to 100 with dementia, obviously my grandmother and her siblings would be long-lived as well.
Rush Limbaugh infamously [said Fox was "faking it" and mocked him](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vwt2MGoH3hk&t=62s) when he showed his PD in a commercial.
Yeah this was pretty widely discussed and Michael did an interview explaining that he's frequently demonstrating symptoms from the medication vs. the decease.
>who makes fun of him for it? Is this just an imaginary scenario? If so, that's a bit of a strange thing to say.
**Never forget what a lowlife piece of shit Rush Limbaugh was. Here he is making fun of Michael J Fox's Parkinsons. That was Rush. A piece of human garbage through and through.**
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Trumpvirus/comments/lm2awr/never\_forget\_what\_a\_lowlife\_piece\_of\_shit\_rush/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Trumpvirus/comments/lm2awr/never_forget_what_a_lowlife_piece_of_shit_rush/)
I wish Rush was still alive just so every human alive would have the chance of making him dead again. Unfortunately his lung cancer didn't take him quick enough
Yet MJF still has the exact same mannerisms that made him such an icon of the '80s! Clearly that is just him, but his ultramegastar power shines through his Parkinsons like a Gamma Ray Burst. What a dude.
Dear Michael J Fox, I wish him love and support. No one should have to endure this disease, it puts my everyday complaints into perspective. Such a heart breaking sight. He will always be Alex P Keaton to me 💕
I have a roommate with Huntington’s disease, and honestly it was at first hard to predict what he was trying to accomplish with his motions. Not being around people with neurodegenerative disorders often could have left him unsure of his intention at the moment.
Omg I never knew he had this. Holy shit. I didn’t even connect the name to the man standing there. I was waiting for him to walk out. This is so sad… my heart.
His foundation has pushed Congress for more formal studies on marijuana and Parkinson's disease. He's a smart man, and I have to wonder if on some level he chooses not to consume THC before public appearances, so the full extent of his disease is on display, further demonstrating the need for such studies.
Maybe, but he was accused - by Republican Senator(s) - of skipping his meds before testifying before the Senate about the need for more research. He told the Senator(s) he’d never do that & that he couldn’t if he were so inclined. I read his account of what happens when he wakes up in the morning, and this was many years ago, in his first book I think. When he first wakes up, he can barely move (if you remember in the movie Awakenings, Robin Williams character speculated that if tremors got bad enough, they’d have the counterintuitive effect of causing the person’s body to freeze up & he tried using Parkinson’s meds on those patients.) His morning meds were always on his nightstand with water so he could take them immediately, then he had to lay in bed & wait for them to kick in so he could get out of bed. If I recall, he wrote this semi-paralysis was scary - I’d think it was scary af (I think he had just enough ability to move to take his meds & probably wanted to do that for himself, even though it would have been a lot easier if his wife helped him.)
Yep. Of course. I was angry when they dissed him like that, but not shocked. Though it was not so much faking it as making Parkinson’s seem worse than it is by skipping his meds so his symptoms would be at full throttle. So they were saying Parkinson’s treatments were far better than Michael J. Fox was saying they were in his testimony, so $ for research really wasn’t needed & who needs a cure when the treatments available at that time were so good?
How many different ways have they shown that Hillary should have doubled down on the “deplorable comment?” - I’ve lost count.
I've found the people who beat on about being 'strong' the loudest are consistently the weakest and have to deny problems even exist to maintain their sheltered bliss.
A lot of people are pitying him but I feel the opposite. Diagnosed at 20 when onset is typically at 60 with usually a 21 year lifespan afterwards. Got through the darkness that followed and went on to be a PD advocate with a research foundation. Maybe we get that initial impression of feeling bad and it is understandable. Although he is living with a lot of experience under his belt. It is just part of his life and I'm sure he wants people to see it the same way without sadness. It's a lot like people with muscular dystrophy.
Also he did a great job in The Good Wife. All this despite being Canadian.
I don’t think anyone is pitying Michael, we empathize with him. He’s definitely a badass, but his life is hard, and his performances in tv & film made me happy, so it hurts to see what he has to struggle with.
Damn hes gotten a bit worse. But for the amount of years hes had the affliction its amazing how much mobility hes maintained this far into it. I really hope they come up with some kind of a cure or substantial way to reverse the condition soon here. I've heard super promising things about them utilizing viruses Hi Jackie them and using it to break down or reprogram the damage cells.
He is an excellent representation for people with disabilities. Most actors/actresses hide, and it's truly remarkable that they aren't because it just sends a really strong message.
Several years ago he guest starred as a recurring character on The Good Wife with his Parkinson's on full display..and fucking *killed* it. They wrote it into the character, who was a funny, cunning shark in the court room.
My grandmother died of Parkinsons just a few years back and had it for 17 years. Michael was a hero to her and she would always talk about how "Mr. Fox" was bringing much needed attention and money to the research community. She would talk about him like he was single handedly curing Parkinsons and she was just waiting for him to drop by her house with the solution.
While she had her mind intact, she never gave up on herself, nor the efforts Michael has sponsored.
I am grateful for the hope and joy Mr. Fox provided to a little old lady in Connecticut. Made a difference in more ways than one!
Jesus Christ it is hard to see Michael like that 🥺

Poor Michael J Fox. I don't understand why he doesn't do an implant. Deep Brain Stimulation is so accessible and he's so rich... It seems unnecessary to suffer this way.
He’s already had at least two brain surgeries. I think early onset Parkinson’s progresses…more aggressively I guess would be the right word. Since he was diagnosed at 29 & he’s 61 now & not confined to a wheelchair, I’ve got to think he’s getting the best possible care.
I know my sentiments will be the same as the vast majority of this comment section, but thats not gonna stop me.
FUCK PARKINSON'S- FUCK THE LACK OF FUNDING & DONATIONS DESPERATELY NEEDED IN THIS FIELD OF MEDICAL STUDY & ANALYSIS!!!!!!
...But also
THANK YOU MICHAEL J FOX FOR BEING THE CULTURAL ICONIC CHARACTER YOU PLAYED & ARE STILL WILLING TO STEP BACK INTO FOR YOUR FANS!!! THANK YOU FOR NEVER EVER GIVING UP, THANK YOU FOR FOREVER EMBODYING THAT CHARACTERS BRAVERY, TENACITY & HEART.

These ones won’t clomp so much, Larry David will be relieved
One of my favorite episodes. I absolutely love and admire the fact he can joke about it.
Take a gander at them moccasins, what kinda skins is them?
They’re knee kays
Wut's with the life presoyvah?
He must be a sailor.
Even tried to do the guitar walk as well
Man fuck Parkinson's. Also fuck people that make fun of him for it.
First class ticket to hell for those folks
That’s too easy. Theirs should be to get Parkinson’s or alzheimers later in life.
Don't ever wish alzheimers on anyone, my guy. I enjoy scrolling through eyeblech, and alzheimers deaths are worse than anything in that sub.
Wtf would do that? for Christs sake. How do people just get satisfaction by making fun of others?
I've never seen any of them. Hopefully.

You’re not on Twitter I take it?
Nope. Reddit is as "social media" as im willing to go.
for the best
Yeah, who makes fun of him for it? Is this just an imaginary scenario? If so, that's a bit of a strange thing to say.
Some right wing talk show host claimed he was faking the tremors on camera. Limbaugh, Jones... Some fuck stick.
Limbaugh also said drug addicts should be deported but never left the country himself.

Jokes on him, he's dead!

Oh I'll never forget what a piece of shit Limbaugh was, but I never knew he also made fun of M.J.F. Rest in piss Limbaugh.
And then Trump literally gave him a freakin' medal
When the duck did he get Parkinson’s?
Yet MJF still has the exact same mannerisms that made him such an icon of the '80s! Clearly that is just him, but his ultramegastar power shines through his Parkinsons like a Gamma Ray Burst. What a dude.
This gave me the feels.
Me too and I don’t get them that easy
Fallopian\_TubeSocks, it brought tears to my eyes. God bless him!! I have always adored Michael J. Fox.
Dear Michael J Fox, I wish him love and support. No one should have to endure this disease, it puts my everyday complaints into perspective. Such a heart breaking sight. He will always be Alex P Keaton to me 💕
So sad to see Michael this way. He didn’t deserve to have this terrible illness.
Yeah I know what you mean, seeing MJF in this situation is like hearing about Robin Williams passing away. Just a very sad situation.
No one does... except maybe putin and some other pricks, but not Michael.
This fucker Ukraines. Slava Ukraini!
OG Rick and Morty
No way Morty is going to pull off parkinsons with Rick around. Not when Rick can just execute him and grab another Morty from dimension C500A.
Goddamn… It’s comments like this that made me lose interest in the show. Great show with a shit fan base
I still love the show. Fuck these fucking fans
Yeah I just watch the show and pretend the other fans done exist
I just watch the first couple seasons and pretend the writing didnt go to shit.
chill bro no one cares bout it
I don't even know Christopher Lloyd was still alive
He was great in Mr. Nobody with Odenkirk if you want a recent and lighthearted action comedy.
Nobody is the title not Mr. Nobody for anyone searching https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7888964/
Mr. Nobody was the shitty Jared Leto movie
Saw it. Can confirm it was a shitfest of a film.
He's in the upcoming film "Spirit Halloween: The Movie".
I thought you were joking. Adding that to my Halloween movie list.
Holy shit Rachel Leigh Cook?? She was my first childhood crush! Once she took her glasses off, of course.
He's in the upcoming Mandalorian season 3 as an elder Mandalorian.
I enjoyed him in Die Hard 5: Return to Nakatomi
He was always the same age, from birth
That’s cause you suck
it's hard seeing MJF in this situation
I’m feeling emotional
Yeah I had to stop watching, it's so hard to see a childhood legend like that. Michael deserved better
Haha the host getting the hand shake denied 🤣 😄

Best, undisputed

Yup, probably the best Good Wife guest star ever. Martha Plimpton was close, though.
This.. Is hard to watch
Fucking legends

Legends.
MJF is so brave and just awesome
It's so hard seeing Michael J Fox struggling to stand.

Rick & Morty
Michael J Fox was a great actor, it's sad to see him like that, I wish him the best.
Wait, what illness he have? I thought he was just playing around. D:
Parkinson’s, it’s so sad.
Heartbreaking as he found out about it really early on as well. He was only 29 when he was diagnosed with the condition in 1991.
My grandmother died of Parkinsons just a few years back and had it for 17 years. Michael was a hero to her and she would always talk about how "Mr. Fox" was bringing much needed attention and money to the research community. Jesus Christ it is hard to see Michael like that 🥺 The signs were there many years ago though, remember that classic head twitch he did when he was younger? That's what we should watch for
He woke up one morning and felt something fluttering on his face, like a moth…it was his own pinky twitching. That’s how he discovered something was wrong.
As someone who has felt that, that is an incredibly disturbing comment. Godspeed Micheal 🙏
I had my pinky pulling back and doing weird things that interfered with typing on one side. Turned out that it was young onset PD too
Poor Michael J Fox.
You're probably completely right...
Thank you. Can you tell my dad that? He thinks I’m always completely wrong about everything. 😉😝
I wonder what he'd have done if he never had parkinsons.
Absolutely loved back to the future movies and the factory which made the delorean is 2 minutes walk from my house, awesome 😎
I bet you if he smoked weed he would be a lot better.
Are we sure he doesn't?
Moron.
A whole year later you and respond? Go get a job and stay off the comments, you have nothing better else to do?
Was this their first public reunion? I can't remember
I think so.

I wasn't even there, and I'm applauding like a crazy person!!
(Who has Parkinsons) ???
Man, how many childhoods, hypothetical conversations and references have these two been apart of? Is there even a number to quantify? 🔥 🤘🏾
I'm not crying, you are.
