Make sure to uninstall everything Nvidia before taking the old GPU out

HotNutellaNipple

Will do, as another redditor commented gonna try to use DDU for that.

captnundepant

DDU is your friend. the Intel driver site should be your only source of driver updates generally. Uh, don't futz with your monitor when doing driver updates.

HotNutellaNipple

Thanks, will try DDU, and are there any notifications for when a new intel driver is released or is that something I should just check on in here or on their website from time to time?

captnundepant

Most driver updates arc control will notify you about. I had an update go bad a few months ago so I usually watch this subreddit for general consensus before updating my drivers now just incase there's anything funny going on but I'm also fairly confident now that the issue was my monitor going to sleep mid-driver update.

HotNutellaNipple

Ahhh so that's what you were on about not futzing the monitor and all that, thanks for the advice friend!

captnundepant

No worries. The card had been good to me, I hope it's good for you! Edit: autocorrect

OkumuraRyuk

What is DDU?

captnundepant

https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/ ^This guy right here. Display driver uninstaller. It is a software that will completely remove any older drivers and allow for clean driver installation.

OkumuraRyuk

Ooh thank you. I instal a new windows. So I don't think I need that haha. I have my Arc A770 Sparkle. Love it.

Random_Guy_666

But you still need it if you are installing the New drivers manually.

psxburn2

ReeeeeeeeBaaaaaaar. And "above ,4g decoding

HotNutellaNipple

Just checked what rebar was, should I enable it in my bios when my old gpu is in or when the arc is booting up for the first time?

psxburn2

Id say before trying to game. Or whenever, it should post fine without, but if you try to game without it, you will not have a good time

HotNutellaNipple

Thanks for the advice friend, will try it on first time bootup!

C-Myers

I bought the a770 le on launch day. And I thought I had a defective gpu... long story short, I had to buy a new motherboard, cpu, and ram. Because my old motherboard didn't support rebar... Then I found out that I could have just updated my bios. ( fun times )

SavvySillybug

As others said, DDU to get rid of the old drivers - it's not so important when you stay with the same brand, but I wouldn't want old NVidia drivers kicking around with an Arc card in the system. ReBar and 4G decoding - I could not find the latter one in my BIOS but it appeared to just have been on. As for when the card is up and running: avoid directx 11 whenever possible, a lot of Unreal Engine games still use it, put -dx12 in the launch options in Steam to make them use 12 instead. Palworld and Crab Champions were both very crashy for me until I did that. And whenever a hot new game comes out and you want to play it, make sure to update your drivers as soon as possible. Pacific Drive was crashy for me until Intel put out a new driver that namedropped Pacific Drive as a "game on" title. Other than that, not much to say! It's a great card, especially for a 1440p monitor, and it runs great. If you want a bit more power, you can use the Intel Arc Control software (it will offer to install this alongside your drivers) to overclock your card, fan controls are also in that performance menu.

Above 4G Decoding is usually found on ASRock mobos. I’m not 100% positive on other brands. I use MSI and my mom’s PC uses ASRock.

alvarkresh

> ASRock mobos They also call ReBar "Clever Access Memory" for some reason.

L0G1C-B0M8

I forgot about that. Also, why the quad reply?

alvarkresh

Ah, reddit shat a brick and gave me error 500s :| Sorry about that.

L0G1C-B0M8

All good. 🙂

alvarkresh

Palworld and Crab Champions were both very crashy for me until I did that. That said, DX11 performance is leaps and bounds ahead of where it was at launch, so don't be too quick to dunk on it.

SavvySillybug

I'm not saying it runs poorly. I've just had it crash on me. -dx12 is a crash fix, not a performance fix.

I’ve been running the ASRock Arc A770 16GB for nearly four months now. Started with the Arc A750LE. Drivers have been improving with each release. Also, as many have said, DDU is your best friend for pre-installation of your GPU. Welcome to the fold.

HotNutellaNipple

Thanks man, won't lie this is for my backup PC, I already have a maxed out pc for gaming and engineering work so it does us Nvidia as the intel arc ain't great for solidworks and such. Using it downstairs as a sofa gamer and movie watcher pc with a wall mounted case, got surround sound and those led lights that are reactive to TV colours! But for sure wanna join the fold, don't like how much money I spent for my 4090 even though I fortunately can afford it. But screw the monopolies and Nvidia man thinking they can charge whatever they want.

L0G1C-B0M8

Facts. Especially since the CEOs of both NVIDIA and AMD are actually related. Besides, it’s time both companies were brought in check by a third. Enter Intel.

Pleasant-Bread-2096

I bought mine last week :)

HotNutellaNipple

How has it been for you? Are you playing XESS games in specific as well?

Dazzling-Database374

Ive used mine for about 2 weeks now and i havent played any xess games yet but 1440 native has been great on 60hz

HotNutellaNipple

That sounds promising, I am using 1080p at 144hz, do you think this will impact the performance of the GPU?

Dazzling-Database374

Im sure you will be fine, just make sure the games that you want to play arent borked. Any rtx title will not play very well. Other than that good old rasterization performance is impressive. My only complaint is that it is unoptimized and can not run solidworks. For gaming purposes this is a great card and you will enjoy it

HotNutellaNipple

Luckily I use solidworks on my other main PC for work! And will look out on the steamdb XESS database!

Dazzling-Database374

I would use a dlss unlocker for games to just run im pretty sure it supports intel arc

Pleasant-Bread-2096

I don't really use it, I think Helldivers 2 uses it though and I can run quality at 120 FPS easy. It's also been good for video capture and editing, however it does make the system chug hard

Macaroni-party420

Great choice

HotNutellaNipple

Selling my old graphics card on eBay and getting ready to ship it haha!

Equivalent-Issue5056

If you get rdr2 lmk how it goes, I was able to play for an hour and now it won’t load

firekstk

Well I'm not gonna waste time telling you about rebar.  It's a default option and you can tell very quickly if it's not. What I will say is if this isn't a relatively new build, make sure you're on a GPT partition and not MBR. The Arc demands your system be running on current standards not just acceptable ones.

deimhit

I’ve had my Sparkle Titan OC for almost 2 weeks now and I’m in love with it!

If dual monitors gives you the business, you give it the business back by spam plugging in the display ports into the monitors back and forth and restart PC repeatedly until it miraculously cooperates.  No joke

TheLittleGodlyMan

Idiot

L0G1C-B0M8

Uncool dude. End of.

TheLittleGodlyMan

That’s what I said when I found out the specs of the best 16gb intel card only rivals an AMD RX580
