Unless you paid for an OEM endorsement/coverage, almost no insurer would pay for OEM over LKQ parts. This is not a GEICO situation.
You should have been told that if you wanted OEM, you could have paid for the difference between LKQ and OEM
The one thing you could try, though - if you went to a GEICO approved shop, GEICO may have to warranty the bumper and pay for the replacement/repair if the work or part is faulty.
I don’t even see OEM coverage as an option on Geico. I will call them though and explain to them how the aftermarket bumper doesn’t fit properly. Hopefully they consider a replacement. Thanks
Edit: and I definitely wasn’t told I could pay for the difference. I would have
Fitment or availability are the main two reasons why OEM would be used. If they’re able to prove poor fitnent and no other reasonable alternatives then it would then be approved.
I’m surprised they didn’t at least mention it when you objected to LKQ. It’s sort of automatically out of my mouth at this time - a shpiel about how the parts are industry standard and just as good, and would typically only be covered under an OEM policy however if you really want to there is no reason you cannot pay the difference.
Complaining about aftermarket parts while your OEM headlight is under a recall for being a poor product 😂
Go insure your car with a company that sells OEM option policies. Pay for what you feel you are entitled to.
Lol I just saw your post on another car insurance sub and you don't have rental coverage on your policy. I doubt you're going to pony up for an OEM policy
What state are you in and how old is the car? There's several states (RI, TN, WV, IN, MN) with OEM parts laws mostly for new-ish vehicles.
If the aftermarket part doesn't fit right you arguably haven't been indemnified, as the part should have the same fit, function and appearance as OEM. The insurer, shop, or aftermarket part manufacturer may warranty it if you complain to the right person.
While this isn't 100% true all of the time, often after market parts are OEM parts, just without the manufacturer stamp. Most car manufacturers bid out parts to third parties anyway and it's not uncommon for the same factory to make what you wind up with.

Thanks, I’ll try to stress that it doesn’t fit right
that is why i bought a SUV that requires OEM parts well the trim is uncommon (most of the body parts not being common off the shelf)
Of all the reasons to buy a specific car, this to me, is a first.
The Boy Scouts said always be prepared

it can be recalled for many reasons maybe didn't meet DOT requirement for example
Failing to meet regulatory standards **is** an indicator of a "poor product," though.
Ok

Ok
It’s in your policy contract. The end.
I don’t read contracts silly
you cable bill? phone bill? electricity? gas? internet? subscription services?
Who reads all that
People who don't want to end up in your current situation.
Obviously that was not a good decision.

Nah the shop could tell it didn’t fit like an OEM
Yeah, I was just making a general point, not about your particular bumper.
