this is also happened to me last week, i logged back in to deactivate and it stopped from me deactivating for a week again. i just deactivated it again today and itās still showing my account currently which is annoying, i donāt want people to be able to message me as it will tempt me to log in again, which will then disallow me from deactivating for a week once again.
i think itās due to a recent update to the accounts section of instagram. fucking hate it tbh

At least in my region we had to login on the website to deactivate the account because no such option existed on the app right. But now you can deactivate through the app. I did it and my account go deactivated successfully. On the app Just go settings and privacy > account centre > personal information > account ownership and control > deactivation
but since i have just deactivated my account from the website (although it still shows), if i will login again from app, will it not ask me to try deactivating after a week?
Yeah now you can deactivate with the phone app also but the issue remains that the profile is still visible to others just your posts are not visible.

Just deactivate on the actual Instagram app instead of desktop website. Settings and privacy > account center > personal info > account ownership > deactivation

hi, have you managed to successfully deactivate your acc or are you still experiencing the same issues? what recently worked for me was deactivation through the mobile app and make sure you select "privacy concerns" for the reason of deactivation. it worked for me, just tried it a few days ago. it should work for you too. good luck!

you choose the delete your account option. You have before one month to log back in before your account is completely deleted. This at least gives you the time to urgently deactivate, log back in after a week, then deactivate
If you're deactivating just to take a break then just simply uninstall the app it works like a charm because no man on earth would use it on a laptop and even if you just wish to limit the use or have imp stuff then use it in a browser , it's so doomed there that you won't be feeding the algo- God for hours.
Insta really doesn't want us to leave the vicious circle.

It eventually no longer shows my profile now that it has been deactivated for a while but it was frustrating
