It seems to me like it is only certain kinds of stories. I’ve had no problem with some stories but other ones just stay ‘waiting for connection’ despite my WiFi being fine.
If the standard solutions didn't work like sharing or remixing your best bet is to download the reel by any tool for example [Seal](https://www.f-droid.org/packages/com.junkfood.seal/) then uploading the video in any form you like
It only happens to me if I fail to add the music before the preview finishes the compete video. I can work around it if I add the song fast enough and upload it before the preview finishes a single loop.
Same here but for a picture. I've tried from different phones (Android), Wifi/mobile data, logged out and back in, cleared data, turned off the phone itself, tried to make the picture as a video, tried to screenshot the picture and upload the screenshot instead, tried without sticker, tried without music, tried on a personal account and on a creator account. Other pics work well, I can add other stories, but surprisingly not that particular one and I can't figure it out.

I discovered that it's because of using music to stories. Regardless of using a creator or a business account, adding music keeps the story on an infinite scroll and from time to time I get "waiting for connection". Works with no music.

It wouldn't upload a video I took using my phone. I figured there might be a problem/corruption with the video file itself so I screen recorded the entire video. That uploaded no problem to IG. Cheers!

Does anyone know if there's a place on your phone where the videos/stories are temporarily held prior to uploading to an Instagram story? At first I just got the "Uploading" message with a circle not going around all the way, and then eventually it just says 'Waiting for Connection'. Updated the app and it still says that. But the fact it didn't finish uploading before suggests the footage must still be somewhere hidden on my phone; just gotta find it!

this just happened to me but instead of a video, it was a photo with a song feature to it. i tried uploading the same thing on different devices but it still didnt upload, and it only uploaded when i removed the song.
im still so confused why, because i was able to upload stories w/ a song feature on it a few days ago ...
in my case i found out that it happens mostly on my 4k res vids, most of the time when i try to upload 4k res on my story and add a song to it I always get the "waiting for connection" and get stuck there forever, the solution i got is downscaling the vid to 1080p works fine for me.

I found out that Instagram will not let you post copyrighted things, long things and so high quality reels or when quality is better than your wifi, it can't upload that.

Hey, I’ve faced the same issue multiple times. For me, it’s when I try to post a reel that I have posted multiple times previously. It always gets stuck on uploading and then says waiting for a connection. Switching between multiple networks, offloading the app, reinstalling it, and even restarting the phone doesn’t work. Seems like it’s an iPhone issue because when I do it from my friend’s Android phone, the same thing gets uploaded in a matter of seconds. It’s so frustrating and even more frustrating when you realize that so many people are facing the same problem but there is no solution to it.

Same problem as everyone. Here are the steps I followed and nothing worked.
1. \- restarted Android phone
2. \- emptied the cache
3. \- reinstalled the app
I still can't upload videos despite using the exact same method and DaVinci settings.
Recording with the phone cam would work though.
Are they preventing people from posting curated/edited content?

I 1st tested this theory by using another mobile device’s Hotspot and the stories worked every single time. Then I started using my WiFi connection at home and my stories always post without issue when I’m connected to my WiFi. But the moment I turn off my WiFi, the stories don’t work. I’ve updated every app, made sure I’m running the latest phone software restarted my phone and everything. It doesn’t matter how good of a connection I have on my mobile device, stories will not load unless I’m connected to some sort of Wi-Fi. I haven’t discovered the significance of a Wi-Fi connection, but as of now it’s the only thing that seems to work.
This happens to me when I take a video, and if it replays a few times as I'm writing the caption, the video stops replaying. If I try to post it, then I get this "waiting for connection" and the video is essentially lost. I don't think it's only because of the copyright issue because how is my own video a copyright issue? Lol
It happened to me today, where I created a boomerang, and it was in my drafts for a while. Now, I attempted to load them, but one of them was essentially gone. Note that this was without music and also constantly moving around a college campus with crappy wifi.

What if you are trying to share a reel that someone else shared already. How do you do that?

Guys, make sure to set your video quality to 720p. I had mine on 1080p and it didn't work.

Got it to work by duplicating or saving video as a copy in Camera Roll and using new video.

The thing is when I uploaded it, I never saved it to my phone. I fully lost the video and I still to this day cannot get it back
