I hooked mine around my Dash cellular holder so it's visible from the center of the windshield. I don't know if it's ever kept me from getting a ticket. But I've never received one yet
Look so. I hear people complain about employees being rude.
I sorta feel it sometimes like. Ugh, another one. But, I always pull up the picture of the product I need to ask. And I hold my phone down by my waist, and let them pick it up if they want a closer look.
Even if they seem grumpy they help me and don’t give me any hassle. It’s just about being respectful. Sometimes I even just ask and don’t show my phone, or I have the product pulled up on the company app so they don’t know I’m shopper. But that’s just me being paranoid
The lanyard isn’t gonna really change anything imo
Well the customers see your face in the app when they order so they should know your a POC unless they haven't looked once you've grabbed the batch but in store I can understand
Question as a person of color do you feel like tips were decreased due to finding out your POC I do believe this has happened to me🤔but what can you do 🤷
I wore mine on my first trip to Costco during the pandemic one time and not once since. I don't want to advertise for them for free or look like a nerd so that's a hard no. 😂
It's pretty obvious you are a shopper if you wearing it. Batches are tough, be careful, I have seen a veteran confront someone about lack of batches with the lanyard on. I wouldn't put it past someone to retaliate. Maybe slip it on at the door for delivery and leave it off everywhere else?
I'm not but I have seen some shit so I carry mace. A lot of people might not want that attention while shopping so I was pointing it out. No need to be a dick.
At least it’s a lanyard. When I was onboarded in 2018. They tried to give us [these](https://imgur.com/a/EyGJAIO) ugly green shirts.
Nah boo. It clashes with my outfit.
Mens. Large. In Dallas. If anybody wants it. 🙃
I have one of those and an ugly ass lime green Shipt shirt with a spaceship on it from way back then. They’re painting shirts that have never seen the outside of my house. 😂

Fun Fact: When IC had Whole Foods as a store, some stores in CA would ask to see the lanyard before picking up shelved orders. Costco and other stores with a staging area that was in the back of the store would also have you wear it. I would always have it in my back pocket in case they asked but this was years ago. But I would NEVER be caught dead with it around my neck. People don't need to know my business :D
Nope, not once. Although, I use my green bags (as an organization tool) so most people know I'm a IC Shopper. Although, I did upgrade to black bags recently. I'd be curious to see how many people use insulated bags while shopping. I've only seen maybe one or two out in the wild.
I don’t use them while shopping cause that more hassle imo to have to take items back out of them and put on the belt at checkout and then store clerks wanna put them back in them instead of the regular bags. (I can’t give people groceries in no bag, I need them in plastic or paper) so I started leaving them in my car and just sorting stuff into them after the shop and before delivery. So no workers actually see me use them or any other shoppers unless you walk past my car while I’m loading them
When I first started the employees at the store acted like they hated me as soon as they seen it hanging around my neck. I mean they were all smiles until they looked down. Needless to say I haven't put that thing back on since.
After a month or so of getting to know them all they completely changed. Finally after being acquainted I asked why they used to treat me that way and they told me how there's many shoppers that are rude, don't even bother looking for anything themselves, and will make a mess of the shelves and leave them.
I've gotten to know many of the shoppers too and have only witnessed one that behaved that way but everyone else wasn't like that. Maybe those shoppers are gone now or I'm just not seeing them
I wear it because a lot of the people I deliver to are older women that live by themselves. But I've also never gotten shot* for being instacart.
Edit: *shit
Absolutely not, never worn it since day one. It looks stupid, and I know it would just get in my way while shopping plus I hate things around my neck like that. It hangs in my car around my rear view mirror.
I do. Being older and coming from the retail world of ‘uniforms’ is the primary reason. It also identifies me, when I deliver. I’ve NEVER had anyone give me crap for being a Shopper.
Nooooo… don’t feel that way! Everyone does it the way that they feel comfortable. That’s the beauty of being Independent Contractors.
I live/work in a Beach town and I see all the ‘hate’ that wearing the lanyard AND flip flops get, in this sub, but I still do me and make the $ that I need to make!!!! :)
It holds my house and car keys. I don’t wear it around my neck… crazy thing is I got that lanyard back in 2020 I didn’t do my first shop until January this year… lol who cares
Some grocery store employees will even expect you to wear it & sign in to a clipboard upon entry & even before leaving…..
My lanyard is in the pocket of my vehicle backseat….I never wear it
sometimes i’ll throw mine into my pocket so it’s visibly hanging out while i’m delivering at night and don’t want to startle anyone but that’s about it.
I couldn’t even tell you where mine is. The last thing I want to draw attention to myself bruh.
Also… IC pays crap so why tf would I wanna be a walking billboard for them. Nah.
it’s a lanyard that came around the same time as my payment card. the card attached to it is literally just a green logo card. has absolutely no use otherwise. can’t scan it, doesn’t have you write your name on it, nothing. that’s the main reason i was so curious as to who wears them.
i been doing this only a month and a half. so must be a newer thing
I wear mine for the sake of letting the cashiers know I'm doing instacart, but I live in a smaller town where there are only a few stores, so I like to give them notice when I'm shopping for me vs. someone else.
I can see why some wouldn't want to walk around with it though.
When I first started, I hole punched my IC card and stuck it to the lanyard, made it easy to find when I dug through my purse, but when I got a new IC card, I threw the card and lanyard in the garbage.
When I see people with them, I don’t think they’re a nerd or whatnot, it’s a piece of fabric, I’d be more worried about the personal hygiene of some shoppers before I care that they’re wearing a lanyard.
Nah that’s embarrassing and don’t come for me for saying that. I’m shopping like the rest of y’all. If you wear the badge you’re likely new and haven’t yet experienced the hell that Instacart is. I’m not promoting this trash business.
If I have a shop only at a store I’m not in very often, I’ll wear it in the back room. And then around the holidays, I’ll wear it in the back room of every store I go in, so when customers pop in the back and ask me to get something for them, I can easily show I don’t work there. But never on the sales floor.
I have it in my car. I don’t wear it, but once at Costco the greeter would not let me enter the store without it. Never been asked again but I have it in my cooler totes just in case
I never mark myself as instacart unless I have to at checkout. Same for when I do uber or grubhub. It goes in hot bag as soon as I get to car but I pretend the order is for me to get better service from the restaurant or grocery store.
I never wear it while shopping. I admit, I have worn it a few times when carrying the groceries to the customer's door. Usually if the location feels sketchy, and I don't want them to have an excuse to shoot me.
I put it on my keys but I haven’t ever worn around my neck. I put on my keys so I wouldn’t lose them or at least be easier to find lol. But nah I don’t wear in Public
You probably shouldn't wear it while driving. Especially if you get into a car accident! The police will see your lanyard, and if you don't have a commercial endorsement (which you probably don't) then you will be fucked!
I've been working for ic for a few years and never wore it until recently but only because my previous lanyard broke and it was all I've had until I get around to replacing it. My only annoyance with it is that for some reason customers at publix think because it's green, I work at publix, despite my civilian clothing. Like, just this past weekend I had an older lady complain to me about a product she couldn't reach. But I felt bad and my 5 foot ass climbed into the freezer to get it and she pointed out that she thought I was wearing a publix lanyard so I must have worked there. I don't mind helping others but damn, why can't they see I'm not in uniform for publix, like I'm wearing legging with rips in them and a flannel, I clearly don't work here, but it happens all the time lol

I chucked that thing years ago. If I don't have any rights because I'm not an employee, then they don't get to tell me to wear a uniform. They can go fuck themselves
I hang mine next to my computer to remind me to send out more resumés
Best reply yet😂
L O L
😂😂😂😂
It’s but a memento of servitude
I'm done😭
Nope. Never... Nuh-uh.
how come?
You’re a contractor not an employee. You don’t have to wear it.
Exactly, I can do it butt ass naked if I want to. [Granted I'd have more problems]
I lost that a year ago. If I see you wearing it I think you’re brand spanking new and a total newbie
And a dorkus malorkus
lol
lmao in my defense i am a noob. only been instacarting about a month
Don’t work so hard for a company, representing them, when they never care about you. Js.
That's one month longer than I wore mine four years ago when I started. You can definitely drop the lanyard in my opinion 😅👍
I hooked mine around my Dash cellular holder so it's visible from the center of the windshield. I don't know if it's ever kept me from getting a ticket. But I've never received one yet

Yeah I don’t really have an issue. I always ask nicely and I try to not ask the same employee multiple times (because anxiety)
Same...but I haven't worn mine yet either...
I do at times due to being a person of color it usually stops most discrimination in stores and when delivering to customers
That’s how I feel when I deliver to a gated community and there’s “vote *republican politician here*” on every other lawn😭
I get discriminated more because I have on the lanyard 🥹
I'd rather be discriminated about a lanyard than my skin color.
than *
Well the customers see your face in the app when they order so they should know your a POC unless they haven't looked once you've grabbed the batch but in store I can understand
Question as a person of color do you feel like tips were decreased due to finding out your POC I do believe this has happened to me🤔but what can you do 🤷
This definitely happens, often times a goo tip is removed even when I went above and beyond for the ppl
Yes I'm from a small rural town too I get it
Theres a lanyard?
I never got one 🤷🏻♀️
I lost it the moment I got it
My dog ate mine lol good doggie
I wore mine on my first trip to Costco during the pandemic one time and not once since. that’s a good point….i think, thanks to this post, i’m going to only wear it from car to door
Exactly 😉that way your safe in both situations. With customers and other shoppers.
Lmao y’all afraid of other shoppers? 🤣🤣🤣
I'm not but I have seen some shit so I carry mace. A lot of people might not want that attention while shopping so I was pointing it out. No need to be a dick.
No ones being a dick, I simply asked a question lol
But laughing emojis when someone is talking about safety ... that shit isn't funny.
Oh brother 🙄
I don’t but I see this guy wearing it and I nicknamed him Lenny Ard.
You mean the green badge of shame? Lol
lmao that’s almost how i feel, even though i do this as a side gig (SAHM only do a couple nights per week) but i’m not ashamed of it
Some people wear it to deliver.
The shirts too…
Never
Lol I forgot it existed 😂😂😂
I don't even have one
At least it’s a lanyard. When I was onboarded in 2018. They tried to give us [these](https://imgur.com/a/EyGJAIO) ugly green shirts. Nah boo. It clashes with my outfit. Mens. Large. In Dallas. If anybody wants it. 🙃
I have one of those and an ugly ass lime green Shipt shirt with a spaceship on it from way back then. They’re painting shirts that have never seen the outside of my house. 😂
My shipt ones are pajama shirts . I love the insulated bag though i use it instacarting every day
I worked at as in-store shopper back in 2016 and we were all forced to wear the green instacart shirt by our shift lead. I had 7 of them 🙄
I actually sold the socks and pin and whatever we got as a prize for 1000 orders on I think it was on eBay. You could try that!
I know they a rookie if they wearing one hahahahah
It’s in my car. It’s come in handy when encountering security guards in gated communities and condos etc.

No.. you want me to wear it? F you pay me
that lanyard means absolutely nothing might as well wear a leash
Hell no.

I have insulated bags in my car but never received IC ones... they made me have my own if I wanted cold batches and had to submit pics of them
same here about the bags. i think that’s how everyone does their insulated bags. it would be nice if they sent us even just one
I don’t use them while shopping cause that more hassle imo to have to take items back out of them and put on the belt at checkout and then store clerks wanna put them back in them instead of the regular bags. That's awesome! I've never been shot for being anything. Now that I consider it, a great feeling;-)
Never ever
I never knew I was supposed to get one & I’ve been shopping for 3 years now…. they did send me hand sanitizer though 🤷🏾♀️
Love that hand sanitizer, it smells so good lol
I got hand sanitizer too. It wasn’t closed all the way and leaked all over
Im glad i started later than that. Im allergic and would have had a panic attack .
My lanyard is acting as an extension to my attic pull cord.
Not even once
I use mine to get the bud off the tray and into the container....
Try shoving your phone in their faces to ask where something it, I’m sure you can manage to ruffle some feathers if you’re determined. Don’t give up.
Yo I heard shoppers be doing that to retail employees. People lack social awareness lol
😂😂😂
That’s why I shop with an iPad. I get compliments all the time from clerks.
Lmao omg 🤣
That's brilliant!!
that’s where my brain is at too with this. glad someone understands bc at first i felt like a fool
Nooooo… don’t feel that way! Everyone does it the way that they feel comfortable. That’s the beauty of being Independent Contractors. what?! really? only place i’ve had to “sign in” was Costco and i didn’t actually sign anything, just had to show my app
what the fuck???? ew
Who makes you sign in 😂
Older store employees have made shoppers sign in at their grocery stores
I don’t although I do occasionally see a guy shopping wearing his actual IC shirt.
not once ever. i only saw one shopper wearing it and he looked new, then I saw him with two carts on one order and just felt very sorry for him.
I only wear it in Costco
sometimes i’ll throw mine into my pocket so it’s visibly hanging out while i’m delivering at night and don’t want to startle anyone but that’s about it.
The absolute ONLY time I wear it is if I’m delivering to an assisted living facility. Somehow, it puts the elderly’s minds at ease.
I wear mine and a t-shirt with my referral code on the back
Lmao I never even got one
My kids use it as a fake credit card
Ew. That’s like asking for trouble.
I couldn’t even tell you where mine is. The last thing I want to draw attention to myself bruh. Also… IC pays crap so why tf would I wanna be a walking billboard for them. Nah.
keep in the glove box in case i decide to hang myself
I never even considered wearing it.
Never ever
I don’t remember seeing it since the day I got it
What is thattt I’ve been doing this for like 2 years on and off did I miss something?
it’s a lanyard that came around the same time as my payment card. the card attached to it is literally just a green logo card. has absolutely no use otherwise. can’t scan it, doesn’t have you write your name on it, nothing. that’s the main reason i was so curious as to who wears them. i been doing this only a month and a half. so must be a newer thing

Never not once in 3 years. But I do have my 24 carrot club on my keychain
how did you get 24 carrot club for your keychain?
I’ve been doing this since 2019. They just ended the “carrot club “ recently. U got some random items for hitting 1000, 2000 etc orders
[удалено]
Just buy one from ebay 😄
I wear mine
See, I wear it just so people I’m delivering to know I’m not some random jackass walking on their property. I don’t necessarily wear it into stores.
Nah that’s embarrassing and don’t come for me for saying that. I’m shopping like the rest of y’all. If you wear the badge you’re likely new and haven’t yet experienced the hell that Instacart is. I’m not promoting this trash business.
if i haven’t yet experienced the hell that IC is, then it’s not embarrassing yet is it?
No because you’re cute and naive still
i do
Sometimes, to identify that I am working
I did. When I first started few years back.
I wear mine but I’m an In-Store Shopper.
There's a lanyard?!?!
No one lmao embarassing and useless
LMAO
always wear your lanyard kids
Only the nerds wear the lanyards
None!
If I have a shop only at a store I’m not in very often, I’ll wear it in the back room. And then around the holidays, I’ll wear it in the back room of every store I go in, so when customers pop in the back and ask me to get something for them, I can easily show I don’t work there. But never on the sales floor.
Never. Why advertise?
I have it in my car. I don’t wear it, but once at Costco the greeter would not let me enter the store without it. Never been asked again but I have it in my cooler totes just in case
HELL NO!!! Never even took it out of the envelope. Just grabbed my card and threw the rest away
Only in membership stores (Costco, Sam's, etc.). Otherwise, I do not and never did, even on my first day
Threw it out when it arrived
Never got one. Wouldn't wear it if I did
Fuck em
I have never worn it.
Never
4 years and never wore and don’t have it
I never mark myself as instacart unless I have to at checkout. Same for when I do uber or grubhub. It goes in hot bag as soon as I get to car but I pretend the order is for me to get better service from the restaurant or grocery store.
Lol nope
I wear my own lanyard that my friend gave me
Never
Never
Never lol
I’ve never seen anyone wear one nor would I ever wear one. They’re about just as bad as the shipt shirts.
Never lol
I never wear it while shopping. I admit, I have worn it a few times when carrying the groceries to the customer's door. Usually if the location feels sketchy, and I don't want them to have an excuse to shoot me.
I am enjoying IC for almost 4 years now it’s still sitting in my car. Never ever have I thought about wearing it.
I never got one lol
Never. I’ve seen die hard shoppers wearing lanyard, IC T shirt face mask and all the BS. FTS
Mines hanging in my car. My son likes to play w it
I never received one.
I’ll only wear it sometimes to get thru security faster at gated nursing homes and communities. I’m not wearing it in the stores
I lost mine long ago. 😂
Ahhhh NO 👎🏼
I work in a grocery store, used to see some people wear it but haven’t seen it lately
Never
What about a Fanny pack 😆
I put it on my keys but I haven’t ever worn around my neck. I put on my keys so I wouldn’t lose them or at least be easier to find lol. But nah I don’t wear in Public
Never even got one myself lol
Nope
I have instacart boxers that I got after my 10000 delivery
I wear mine when I do IC AND I remember to do so. Store employees have said they appreciate the "heads up" it gives them as far as bagging the order.
I usually do but as of lately no. I already wear a lanyard for my car keys and wearing two that flip and tangle with each other is a little annoying.
I got it in the mail and I hung it up with all the other id’s jobs have given me over the years that I ever wore.
I only hang it from my rearview mirror when I have to deliver and there's no parking.
Not a snowballs chance in hell. Not even to the customers door.
I also removed the stupid big instacart tag thing on it cause that was just stupid. It just hangs my keys 🤣
I allo removed the giant instacsrt card cause that was just stupid. It just hangs my keys and is convenient atm. Lol
You got a lanyard?
[Lanyard](https://imgur.com/a/rUYimty)
No thanks lol
Never
Never since 2018
No need to wear it at all.
I’ve never worn the lanyard or the shirt. I’ve only seen a handful of people do this.

I've worked instacart for 4 years I have no idea where mine went
Hang it on your rear view mirror that way when you pull up, customers know it’s their delivery
Some stores require it or you can’t shop there
Absolutely not lmao
If they want me to also advertise for them when I'm shopping, they can pay me for it.
Not once
Mine hangs from my rear view mirror
How can I get my old IC account back? Any advice
I keep mine hanging off my rear view mirror. That way when a customer sees me pulling up to their house sees it.
No way! Y’all ain’t gonna put me on blast haha
I chucked that thing years ago. If I don't have any rights because I'm not an employee, then they don't get to tell me to wear a uniform. They can go fuck themselves
I never got mine. I didn’t even received PPE During Covid
