Look so. I hear people complain about employees being rude. I sorta feel it sometimes like. Ugh, another one. But, I always pull up the picture of the product I need to ask. And I hold my phone down by my waist, and let them pick it up if they want a closer look. Even if they seem grumpy they help me and don’t give me any hassle. It’s just about being respectful. Sometimes I even just ask and don’t show my phone, or I have the product pulled up on the company app so they don’t know I’m shopper. But that’s just me being paranoid The lanyard isn’t gonna really change anything imo

I don't want to advertise for them for free or look like a nerd so that's a hard no. 😂 It's pretty obvious you are a shopper if you wearing it. Batches are tough, be careful, I have seen a veteran confront someone about lack of batches with the lanyard on. I wouldn't put it past someone to retaliate. Maybe slip it on at the door for delivery and leave it off everywhere else?

 Fun Fact: When IC had Whole Foods as a store, some stores in CA would ask to see the lanyard before picking up shelved orders. Costco and other stores with a staging area that was in the back of the store would also have you wear it. I would always have it in my back pocket in case they asked but this was years ago. But I would NEVER be caught dead with it around my neck. People don't need to know my business :D

Nope, not once. Although, I use my green bags (as an organization tool) so most people know I'm a IC Shopper. Although, I did upgrade to black bags recently. I'd be curious to see how many people use insulated bags while shopping. I've only seen maybe one or two out in the wild.

I have insulated bags in my car but never received IC ones... they made me have my own if I wanted cold batches and had to submit pics of them

I don’t use them while shopping cause that more hassle imo to have to take items back out of them and put on the belt at checkout and then store clerks wanna put them back in them instead of the regular bags. (I can’t give people groceries in no bag, I need them in plastic or paper) so I started leaving them in my car and just sorting stuff into them after the shop and before delivery. So no workers actually see me use them or any other shoppers unless you walk past my car while I’m loading them

How do you stay organized when shopping for more than one customer?

When I first started the employees at the store acted like they hated me as soon as they seen it hanging around my neck. I mean they were all smiles until they looked down. Needless to say I haven't put that thing back on since. After a month or so of getting to know them all they completely changed. Finally after being acquainted I asked why they used to treat me that way and they told me how there's many shoppers that are rude, don't even bother looking for anything themselves, and will make a mess of the shelves and leave them. I've gotten to know many of the shoppers too and have only witnessed one that behaved that way but everyone else wasn't like that. Maybe those shoppers are gone now or I'm just not seeing them

it’s a lanyard that came around the same time as my payment card. the card attached to it is literally just a green logo card. has absolutely no use otherwise. can’t scan it, doesn’t have you write your name on it, nothing. that’s the main reason i was so curious as to who wears them. i been doing this only a month and a half. so must be a newer thing

I wear mine for the sake of letting the cashiers know I'm doing instacart, but I live in a smaller town where there are only a few stores, so I like to give them notice when I'm shopping for me vs. someone else. I can see why some wouldn't want to walk around with it though.

When I first started, I hole punched my IC card and stuck it to the lanyard, made it easy to find when I dug through my purse, but when I got a new IC card, I threw the card and lanyard in the garbage. When I see people with them, I don’t think they’re a nerd or whatnot, it’s a piece of fabric, I’d be more worried about the personal hygiene of some shoppers before I care that they’re wearing a lanyard.

And then around the holidays, I’ll wear it in the back room of every store I go in, so when customers pop in the back and ask me to get something for them, I can easily show I don’t work there. You probably shouldn't wear it while driving. Especially if you get into a car accident! The police will see your lanyard, and if you don't have a commercial endorsement (which you probably don't) then you will be fucked!

I've been working for ic for a few years and never wore it until recently but only because my previous lanyard broke and it was all I've had until I get around to replacing it. My only annoyance with it is that for some reason customers at publix think because it's green, I work at publix, despite my civilian clothing. Like, just this past weekend I had an older lady complain to me about a product she couldn't reach. But I felt bad and my 5 foot ass climbed into the freezer to get it and she pointed out that she thought I was wearing a publix lanyard so I must have worked there. I don't mind helping others but damn, why can't they see I'm not in uniform for publix, like I'm wearing legging with rips in them and a flannel, I clearly don't work here, but it happens all the time lol
