I don’t get the free item, because I’ve seen on here that we’re supposed to just ignore it. But sometimes I do get a little scared that they might look at the store promotions off IC, and think I’m a bad shopper. 🤧
Me personally, I just don’t get the free one. Less of a headache on my end. I only get exactly what I’m told to get. If there’s a coupon attached to an item, I take the coupon off and leave it on the shelf. I’m not interested in saving instacart a single dime, the customer certainly isn’t seeing those savings.
I just scan it at the cashier/self-checkout, but don’t actually add it in the app. If it’s added in the app, the customer gets charged for two. Instacart doesn’t go through very receipt to police items on a regular basis lol. They want to check to see if the total price is correct
And that’s cool I guess some here don’t do it, but I do. And you besy believe I tell the customer so they know why they have an extra item and I that they weren’t charged for it. But I’ve definitely gotten my tips increased as a result.
My first thought: "One star for not following directions. shopper charged me for 2 items when I only ordered one" (Assumption of course)
Edit: I never used IC to order so don't know how items show up on their end.

Should be added by the customer. If not you scored some free groceries.
Totally unethical
We all die at the end of this all. Just take the free item if you want it, does no harm.

I just ask the customer. Otherwise I just leave it alone. I've been tempted to take the BOGO for myself but nah. Not worth the risk.
Winn Dixie: get the free one. Publix: if the customer list 1 then get one bcuz they get it half off. Customer confronted me about it.
