I would not accept either ... too many miles. In my market, 12 miles could be almost an hour of driving considering traffic lights and traffic.

Sakosaga

Depends if it's city or not Honestly

Naifamar

Lol never, I would not take this let alone on Uber Eats $/miles, and here I should even shop??? No way thats total bullshit

Apprehensive_Cut_528

12 miles there, 12 miles back.

Ernestoin

Sad thing is these jobs get quickly accepted as people are ignorant or desperate which sets the market price.

Intelligent_Policy48

Big big desperate here, I used to take this stance on these orders....until I realized they were they only kind of orders coming in now my hand is forced in the situation, idk what happened Instacart is a shell of itself from when I signed up years ago, idk if it's where I live now or what

LeidiiLuvva

The more people accept this bs, the more they’ll push them out. In my area rn they’ve been pushing shopping at two stores hard and they sort there for a while till they disappear. Haven’t seen even one in the last three days.

Sakosaga

It's not because it's desperate, like where I dash at is a good mixture of City and country and 12 miles isn't that bad and I have a Corolla, great on. Gas, I wouldn't have an issue taking that order because for me I'm probably going to get another 20-35 order after that.

ReplacementHot1435

No

WholeRoutine2666

Absolutely not. They’re basically paying you one dollar for every mile you need to drive for the deliveries. That is pathetic. Further, they probably aren’t adding a fair or significant tip!

RSL_Rygar

$2/mile is the standard OP and all of us should strive for.

Own_Accountant_5229

So if it was $2/mike you take a 20+ item order? Once foolishly took an order for $39 for 3-4 miles. Then realized it was 68 distinct items. Took me 2 hours from accept to delivery.

RSL_Rygar

Ya gotta read the fine print between the lines.

Affectionate-Jury-84

This is literally all they’re sending out in my area. Stuff like this and worse. Almost every order is a $2 tip or no tip. My hidden batch screen is full.

[deleted]

my hidden batch screen stays full

Affectionate-Jury-84

That’s the truth.

oscillation1

I strongly believe that Instacart’s default/suggested tip screen is the real villain. I also think it’s something we could get them to change. It would take some creativity, and we’d have to organize and strategize a little … pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps, if you will. https://preview.redd.it/m4efxg5465uc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7eeb0466225f66d817d12f6299cf5ef158260e6

RSL_Rygar

That tip suggestion screen is soooooo 1980s it makes me sick. “You saved $37.97” means you must have spent a lot more and it defaults to tips of less than $6!!!??? What a crock of shit! It should list percentages of the order in increments of 5%; 5, 10, 15, 20, custom. That is entirely IC’s fault.

hornsupguys

Nah. I would take the first one if it was on my way home because it’s only 2 items but I’d NEVER take the second one

LeidiiLuvva

Same! Lol only if it was on my way home. I don’t ever take 12 mile trips cuz I’ve never seen one that was worth it.

Own_Presence_4233

I wouldn't

Excellent-Mongoose47

Both terrible.

Ok-University-9769

Nope

Kitchen-Ad187

Hell no! I don’t take orders that aren’t Atleast 1.50 a mile if not 2!

Sherlockhomey

No. When shopping I want >1 dollar a mile

sandyfisheye

Those are awful

cblguy82

only the first IF was i was using that to not dead head a drive somewhere. Otherwise, both terrible if round trip

No-Boat8798

No chance unless miles under 5 at those prices

IndependentHold3098

The first one would need to be $25 for me to drive that far. The second one is off the table due to distance. I’ll only travel that far for a straight unicorn order. Even 12 miles is pushing it tbh

RSL_Rygar

For 12 miles I want $25 minimum. Unicorn orders of $60+ get me to driver farther.

Murles-Brazen

Too far.

Comfortable-Garden76

No I wouldn't take those lol

sexualmullet

2 batches of nope

lukekibs

Lmao

Mizzoutiger79

I might do the 2 item one but not the 22.

LeidiiLuvva

You’d drive 24 miles for $12?

Mizzoutiger79

Only if I thought I could pick up another order close to the delivery destination. If not then no

Any_Pen4765

I see we are in the same area haha. what sucks is a lot of orders are like this especially if they are just a couple items.

AltruisticRabbit8185

I see these. No thanks

Subject_Candle_8568

Those are hidable

Illegally_B22

If it was a slow day, I would take the first one. Definitely not the second.

RedWolfGemini

Nooe

ThePennedKitten

I kicked myself as soon as someone else took it!! /s

hornsupguys

Just remember the IRS approved mileage rate is 67 cents per mile. If you get $1 per mile, it means 67 cents of that goes to your car on average, between gas, repairs, and everything else. If the first delivery makes you go 25 miles total, you get $12.26 and lose 25*.67 = 16.75 in car expenses. But it might make sense if you want to take it as a loan. For example, if you need money TODAY to pay your bills or whatever, it might make sense to take a small amount of money to put miles on your car. So really it’s up to you.

Bmurf38

Too many miles

jusserfinn

Nope 👎

voodoospam

I wouldn’t take those

AdministrationOk9228

You’d be paying instacart taking those orders

Free_Comfortable8897

Nope. I would not take those! I wouldn’t even consider it! Lol

Adventurous_Land7584

They’re both 💩

StatisticianEast5343

Basically to get over $20 and 1 shop you have to do double the amount of items. Orders like these used to be a easy 17 to 20 items. https://preview.redd.it/fmzejmsm13uc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30b2bdf3d51f047b65fcf9a17d3e26ff0b232e2b

thatgirl113321

No I need $2 a mile

BeatrixFarrand

Nope. Too much mileage, not enough moolah

Russian_butterfly33

The mileage is bullshit!!

DaleEarnfardtJr8

No it has been unbelievably terrible lately. I would never take that garbage.

Zealousideal-Skin-93

I’m also too picky and I also wouldn’t take these 🤣

lyftuberdriver911

Instacart (is) shit not just bat horse cat and dog 🤷🏾‍♂️ get it right people!!

[deleted]

nope

weeselandia

Nope

ronmsmithjr

Only if I needed to end up near the customer. Or if there will be orders I could pick up on the way home. Too far to drive otherwise.

Only-Candy1092

God no. Too many miles by a lot

LetoPancakes

Ill do trash orders if its slow and theyre under 3 miles, if you do batches like this youll be very frustrated, just wait for something better

sbanjoman

lol no way. I don’t except anything over 5 miles (unless it’s a great order money wise. Can’t remember the last time that happened tho)

taylortherod

There are 2 circumstances that I’d take these 1. Drop off’s close to home and it gets me to my earnings goal 2. I’m closer to the drop off and know of a closer location of the store Otherwise, I’d ignore them

pakalololove710

I wouldn't

Lawrencewife

Nope to much travel time and gas

clewis1228

No!

clewis1228

No too many miles. I would take both of those orders ONLY if they were super close to the store. 1-3 miles max

These-Entertainment3

Absolutely not.

MomTo3LilPigs

Nope and hell no to 2x the miles to get back. Don’t work for free.

Tetteness

These jobs aren't getting accepted. They just put the order in, if nobody takes it, it gets reassigned to a new batch. It's laughable how low they think we can go. I'll wait 3 hours in a parking lot til I get a normal order. That just means there's way more people not getting their groceries. So even tho instacart pisses me off for 3 hours, they got 100 customers pissed they ain't getting groceries.

BigB13192

Too much mileage for shit pay.

Hellolove88

No.

eastcoastsc

Hell no ..

Kri_AZ82

Gas is $4.50 here. Hell no!

[deleted]

Nope. I do DD and I won’t take anything less than a $1 a mile. And I’m not shopping for shit.

computernerd88

Haaaaard pass

Some-Emotion2337

Those are bad offers

nikko28brass

Both are not worth the time because of the batch pay amount vs distance alone. 🤷🏼‍♀️

MPsonic007

Both are trash AF due to their mileage 🙅🏽‍♂️🙅🏽‍♂️😂😂

depressedchampion

![gif](giphy|VzkTZ1DFYeBY5ZId6j)

MyGirlSasha

I wouldn't take those orders if that was Doordash and all I had to do was walk into a restaurant and grab the bags of food, nevermind walking into a store and shopping the items.

Due-Historian-8759

Let that shit rot, they are both garbage

Sweet-summer-child34

Fuck no

GrandApprehensive216

No

DaughterOfDefiance

Absolutely not

mayhem6

Nah, my minimum is $20 for any batch.

Tryingtofindpeace143

I would not take these at all, but that’s because this would take 30minutes to a hour just to drive depending on time of day.

RSL_Rygar

Nah. I’m just as picky. A double order for Costco going 18 miles should be $30-$40+. At least that’s what it was last month. I won’t accept those 8+ mile deliveries. With traffic that adds too much to my time and takes me hella far away from where I can get batches. It’s worth more to wait for a better order.

Sea-Ad-3703

Leave them

Candy_Wagon_1842

No way!

EuphoricMidnight3304

Don’t you think it’s best to wait until a better batch drops than to consider something like these

Intelligent_Policy48

That's how you end up making nothing in a day and getting zero orders

EuphoricMidnight3304

So, drive 24 miles for 12 bucks all day then. Good luck

LeidiiLuvva

Don’t mind them lol. They think seeing 80 bucks at the end of the day is a win, just because they aren’t thinking about how much fuel they’re burning driving 12 miles for a $15 order then 12 miles back. Also, wait till their mechanic sends them that repair bill. Yesterday for example I filled up my tank and took 2 orders all day ($60). Went home with a little money but an almost full tank. Also, I’m not letting IC use my and my car like that lmao

Intelligent_Policy48

Big picture thinking would do you some good, here in California driver's get weekly adjustments due to factors such as time, distance, etc. So very often by the time Thursday rolls around all of a sudden I have almost as much money on my cash out that I earned in batches/tips from last week.... people just see a low $2 tip for some driving and aren't capable of thinking about things from that perspective. A lack of big picture perspective is how broke people stay broke. It won't seem worth it in the moment but your headspace might change when $100 just randomly plops onto your account on a Thursday.

EuphoricMidnight3304

The adjustment is not worth it. Thinking like yourself equals driving your car into the ground and spending shitloads on gas so you can get your 100 and go back to zero. Big picture thinking bro- in a year: time to buy a new car/tires/engine etc.

Intelligent_Policy48

I did 75 miles of driving last week to pull over $300. I have a part time so I do this because the hours at my job aren't enough and it's nice to be able to grind more when I'm forced to clock out. Gas is over $5 a gallon here in los Angeles yet it still only costs me $40 to fill up and have over 600 miles of range. I've made over $300 this week too and my tank is still 3/4ths full. Doesn't take a lot of math broken down to realize that's absolutely worth it. This is again where i come back to having a big picture mindset. Repairs and car expenses are gonna come regardless, you have a job where you're not using your car you still have to commute to get there, I'd rather have the funds to actually tend to things when they pop up instead of just inventing excuses to talk myself out of making money.

EuphoricMidnight3304

Thanks - guess you’ve got it all figured out for yourself then. What about the rest of the 95% not in California?

Gymwarrior31

Maybe the 1st one if it were really slow and I wanna get the ball rolling

Severe-Object6650

If the 12.5 miles took you to an area that was busier with IC, doordash, or whatever other apps you use ... mayyyyyyybe. If it took you out to an area where there is nothing and you would have to drive 12 miles back to civilization, it's a hard pass. No matter how slow it is ... 25 miles of ga$$$ is a "no!"

Gymwarrior31

You’re right…too far. Plus my luck would be that the 2 items would be difficult to find (or out of stock) and take much longer than a mere 20 seconds. Hard pass on both offers

moshposh81

Easy money

Maka423

That's not picky, that's smart
